Program Note

[ Posted Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 – 15:44 UTC ]

OK, we have three program notes today, one small bad one, one good one, and then another bad one.

First, the small bad one. There will be no column today.

The good news is that I have reached a milestone in the writing project I have been working on for the last ten months, which means I will now be paying more attention to this site -- answering comments, writing new articles on Tuesdays and Thursdays, etc. Because I spent my three-day weekend working hard to achieve this milestone, I am taking the day off today.

I would like to publicly thank everyone here -- regular commenters, casual readers, and all of the new folks who have been appearing in the past few months -- for your extended patience with the site while I have been much more focused elsewhere. Hopefully, things will improve now that I'll be able to pay more attention to the site, but I just wanted to say thanks for your support, everyone!

OK, now the bigger bad news -- next week is Netroots Nation week. That's right, my lovely wife and I are off once again to the confab of Lefty bloggers and politicians, this time in picturesque Providence, Rhode Island. We're all hoping Barack Obama drops by to say a few words, but maybe he'll just send his usual video address instead. In any case, a fun time will be had by all.

Now, next Monday is the first available day after the beginning of June, so before I leave I'm going to put together an Obama Poll Watch column to run on Monday. After this, I may set up some re-runs of columns from the archive for you to view. I probably won't be "liveblogging" the convention, because there just isn't enough time in the day while you're at these things (and also, I have a feeling it would be kind of boring reading anyways). Regular columns will likely resume either Tuesday the 12th or Wednesday the 13th.

Sorry to say "I'm going to pay more attention to the site" and then snatch it away again so soon. But it'll be a networking week, so maybe I'll have some fresh perspectives when I return. In any case, once again, thanks for your continued patience.

    Congrats on your milestone, Chris.

So tell me: What do you think is gonna happen in Wisconsin?

Hoo boy, that's a tough one. Whoever wins, it's going to come down to turnout. GOTV is going to win this race, that's for sure.

WI votes right before NRN, I think. Which means it'll either cast a pall over the procedings, or it'll make it a celebration.

I will say this -- if Walker avoids recall, it's definitely going to move WI into the "battleground state" category for the fall.

You can tell the way the wind blows in Wisconsin by listening to the Democrats..

Last week, the Wisconsin Recall was the "bellwether" for the Presidential Election.. The results in Wisconsin will show us that the Left's way is the right way.. etc etc etc ad nasuem..

THIS week, the story goes that Wisconsin isn't that important in the upcoming elections. What happens in Wisconsin is not indicative of anything..

You really have to wonder how these pundits can do such a complete 180 in so short of a time without hurting something..

I read somewhere that, in Wisconsin, Walker got approx a million votes when he was elected.

The Recall group got over 900,000 signatures for the recall...

They must be going nuts trying to figure out HOW they could be losing when they had 90% of the guy's votes in recall signatures.

I'd love to know which rocket surgeon thought it would be a good idea to hold a recall in a swing state a couple of months away from a prez election. If Walker wins — and all indications are that he will, from what the polling says — this will not be a good thing for the DNC and unions.

ROFL! I see Axelrod ran into a little trouble with protestors at his Boston press conference:

"In advance of Axelrod's arrival at the presser, competing groups of Obama and Romney supporters chanted back and forth: "Fired up, ready to go!" on one hand versus "Obama isn't working!" on the other. Both crowds rotated through a number of chants, including -- on the Republican side -- "Co-ry Boo-ker! Co-ry Boo-ker!"

As Axelrod was speaking, they moved on to "Solyn-dra!" and "Axel-fraud!"... http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/

LOL! Meanwhile, why the heck was Axelrod even holding a presser? Did that strike anybody else as odd? Since when do campaign guys hold press conferences?
