Get Out And Vote!

I am not going to write a full column today; instead I thought we could all gather together in the comments as we all watch the returns come in throughout the night.

What I am hoping for in the results (in a sort of “big picture” way) is that all Democrats do well. I want to see progressives and D.S.A. candidates win, and I want to see establishment and mainstream candidates win. I say this because if all of the various wings and factions within the Democratic Party manage some victories here and there, then this will largely avoid a huge round of finger-pointing and blame-gaming. If one faction or the other does well but the other one doesn’t, that could exacerbate the rift between the two, so I am hoping that won’t even be possible because Democrats do well across the board.

Right now, even before the results come in, we are actually experiencing a rare and brief moment of total Democratic Party unity. Because everyone in the party — progressive, establishment, lefty, centrist, Democratic socialist, whatever — has now come together to speak with one voice.

One voice condemning in the worst possible terms the betrayal by Representative Haley Stevens in Michigan. We can all agree on that, right?

(As I said, join me in the comments section throughout the night, and let’s all hope for the best!)

yeah, Stevens should have known better. in similar circumstances i might have made a similar decision privately, but airing the dirt in public with the Senate hanging in the balance is unforgivable.

Please remember that the South has a lot of very incensed voters with something to prove after the Supreme Court gutted their voting rights, and I think it’s going to be obvious.

Ossoff just obliterated his fascist opponent in Georgia. The polling showed Ossoff up by 10 points, but the voting (so far) shows him winning by 20+.

    Dang! That’s a shellacking. 🙂

Don’t get too excited yet. The democrats tend to be concentrated in the big cities and vote early, so there’s likely to be a lot of republican votes counted later in the process. Hopefully Talarico builds up enough of a lead to overcome that. I did my part!

You are preaching to the choir! Just teasing you. What I’m looking at is the margins in multiple counties and not the total votes. Talarico is outperforming Beto O’Rourke by double digits in multiple Red counties and by high double digits in Blue country. It’s looking great so far. 🙂
