Polls may underestimate Republican support. The pollsters I've worked with over the years are smart professionals who take their craft seriously. Yawn. The Oregon governor race is being split by Phil Knight running a moderate to conservative democrat as an independent spoiler while bank rolling the Republican candidate. The problem is as Johnson fades, Kotek is picking up more support than Drazan. The other issue is Governor Brown has had a bunch of recall attempts against her, "attempts" being a rather generous description. None have come even slightly close to getting on the ballot. I'm sure the progressives would be more than happy to return the favor considering all the crazy antics that Drazan pulled while in the state legislature and that recall will get on the ballot. I would be surprised if Drazan, if elected, would make it to the end of her term. Everything else is dominated by Democrats: house representatives, senators, state government. It's not red but momentary light purple flash at most. It's almost like we vote by the people and not land area...

You are spot on as to what the Republicans will do if they retake the House or the Senate or both. And this, again, should be what Democrats are hammering the public with in their ads.

Republicans say that Biden is killing our economy... so what are they going to do legislatively to fix it for him? I've heard them complain about how Biden's policies are destroying everything, but not a single one of them said how they are going to fix it? Hunter Biden cannot fix the economy no matter how much they want to investigate him; so why prioritize him over it?

There have been a lot of articles pointing out that the January 6 Committee failed to convince the people of our nation how serious the evidence against Trump and his administration truly is. I hate to disagree, but the Committee did their job just fine. The American people know that Trump is a criminal. They have known it since before he was elected. We, the People, could not believe that he was permitted to openly commit crimes while he was the President... protected by Republicans who made it clear that party came before the Constitution. Many of us believed that when he was voted out of office, Trump would finally be held accountable. We waited for Biden to be sworn into office so that justice could finally happen and Trump would be prosecuted for his numerous crimes. And we waited. And then we waited more. I've had Republican friends tell me that they believe that Trump must be innocent because he would have already been arrested if he'd done everything they claim he has done. Tough to argue with that logic.

The January 6 Committee did a great job. But they could never do what we needed them to be able to do... hold any of those involved in the failed insurrection accountable for their actions. It is a mistake to avoid indicting Trump and his co-conspirators because people will claim it was done for political reasons just before the elections. All I know is that if there are not mass arrests and indictments filed minutes after the last polling places close in Hawaii, Garland is making his huge mistake even worse.

Americans’ anxiety around the economy looks devastating for the party in power. 84% of voters think the US is in a recession now or will be by next year. An astounding 57% of Americans think their personal financial situation is worsening. Even during most of the pandemic, only 20-30% said the same.

Stacey Abrams is still an election denier

Stacey Abrams, in the gubernatorial debate Monday night, signaled that once again she will not concede if she loses.

“In 2018, you didn’t concede defeat to Gov. Kemp,” the moderator began, “and you talked of systemic problems with the state’s election system. This election, do you commit to accept the outcome of the vote, regardless of what it shows, and do you stand by your use of words like ‘rigged’ four years ago to describe the state’s election system?”

The Georgia Democrat began her answer Monday saying that “in 2018 I began my speech on Nov. 16 acknowledging that Gov. Kemp had won the election.”

That’s false. Watch her speech here. Abrams “began” her 12-minute speech in 2018 with more than four minutes of complaining about how “democracy failed Georgia” and gripes about “misinformation.”

After four-plus minutes of objections, Abrams said, “I acknowledge that former Secretary of State Brian Kemp will be certified as the victor in the 2018 gubernatorial election.” That’s not an admission that he won — and she underscored that when she added, “Let’s be clear, this is not a speech of concession. … My assessment is the law currently allows no further viable remedy.”
