Excellent point! you have to be at least 30 years old to be elected a United States Senator.

Actually, you have to be at least 30 years old to be sworn in as a US senator.

You can win election at 29!

Don Harris -

while CK has wider name recognition nationally, due to politics, I think if you were looking for a sports figure in CA to run you might want to consider some others.

Steph Curry, maybe? In CA, he's currently widely respected (for his 3-pointers).

Or, given the names you said you liked in sports, how about Steve Young?

I could even see Joe Montana winning easily (does he still live here? not sure...).

Actually there is historical precedent for this. The one name that springs to mind is Bill Bradley. Oh, and Jack Kemp, too...

:-)

When you talk of putting sport celebrities diectly into the Oval Office you make a pretty good case that the USA is just another politcal Sick Man of North America...although the election of Trump had already made that point very forcefully.

Don Harris [2] -

Be careful. I was all on Kaepernick's side, right up until I heard he hadn't even bothered to vote in the last election. C'mon, dude, people look up to you -- if you don't vote, you don't get to complain about politics...

Even if you feel it's futile, voting's all you really have to express your opinion in a manner politicians understand...

Although if he decided to run, maybe I'd change my opinion of him.

OK, I'm going to get to answering some comments, here. Before I do, a mea culpa/explanation of sorts. I had some major dental work done, so I've been on painkillers and whatnot and that's my excuse for not answering comments before now.

Sorry for the delay, let me get to the past week or so...
