"Did you see the new statistics showing that fewer people are struggling to pay for medical bills now that Obamacare has been fully implemented? This was one of the biggest reasons why the Affordable Care Act passed, because so many people were going into bankruptcy to cover unexpected illnesses. So it's good to see it's beginning to lift that burden from millions of American families."

And yet, the majority of Americans STILL don't like or want TrainWreckCare...

Apparently polls ARE important, as evidenced by your first Talking Point...

So, care to comment why the majority of Americans STILL don't want Obamacare?? :D

What I do not agree with is that this rises to the level of moral outrage that you and the republicans have made it out to be.

Yet ya'all have so much "moral outrage" over the GOP's moral outrage..

Ya'all "care" a great deal that the GOP cares a great deal...

Funny, iddn't it.. :D

I really just don't care.

But, would you care if it was a GOP POTUS who committed the faux pas???

Judging from the Bush years and everything that the Left "cared" about, I am guessing many here would "care" a great deal.. :D

That's kewl..

So the question is why do the republicans, who did not go themselves, care?

Because they are politicians who found a way to stick it to the opposing Party..

Democrats would be doing the EXACT same thing if it was a GOP POTUS who scrooed up...

goode trickle,
(we don't know you by another name, do we?)

You know, a lot of people have commented that the French are not upset by President Obama's absence.

I think the French have too much class to be publically or visibly upset by this but I have to believe many of the - officials and private citizens - are, at the very least, extremely disappointed that a high level US official, if not the president himself, was not there.

Even DSWS and GT agree... Even OBAMA agrees!!

Hold on there not quite so fast. I agree with what the WH copped too... messing up by not sending someone higher ranking over.

I agree with the statements that the democrats made calling the WH out over not sending someone.

What I do not agree with is that this rises to the level of moral outrage that you and the republicans have made it out to be.

To put it into context not only are the FRENCH not upset but I am willing to wager that the Sixpack clan is too busy trying to make ends meet to really give a hoot as well. I know that I am not upset that the president did not go, heck I'm not even upset that we only had a diplomat there, not only am I not upset....I really just don't care. So the question is why do the republicans, who did not go themselves, care?

I am surprised that if you feel the need to explain, that you would wholeheartedly participate in just about every right wing faux scandal since Obama was elected.

You also forget that I VOTED for Obama... I wasn't participating in any Obama scandals until his total incompetence and lack of leadership ability became clear to people who are not enslaved by Party ideology... :D

The problem is that you define "faux scandal" as anything that puts the Democrat Party in a bad light..

So, you'll forgive me if I don't put too much stock in that, eh? :D

If the GOP is going to bitch anyways, why not do the RIGHT thing??

And just what is the right thing? Who gets to decide? Personally, "the right thing" to me would be to ignore France and figure out something do about Boko Haram in Nigeria...

I am surprised I have to explain this...

The thing about the Charlie Hebdo march is if Obama had gone, the Republicans would have just manufactured a faux scandal about him going.

Just like Democrats manufactured scandals about Bush...

They are partisan politicians.. It's what they do...

I am surprised I have to explain this...

Switch GOP to democrat and that describes the majority of your posts on this site since the Bush administration...

Oh what felgercarb...

If I slam the Democrat Party, I have MULTIPLE examples..

I am also constrained to point out (so much for my resolution :D) that Obama sent *THREE* officials to a funeral for a scumbag thug...

But I guess that some little pissant terrorist attack on one of the basic tenets of American freedoms...??

Well that's just totally unimportant...

But CW is correct that US presidents don't go to rallies,

Yea, I guess rallies are for lesser world leaders, not THE MESSIAH.... :^/

Ya know, if a Republican cop'ed such an elitest attitude, the Left would have a field day castigating him....

No I don't. I sort-of disagreed with ONE of the reasons CW gave: the idea that security good enough for everyone from Angela Merkel to Zoran Milanovi? (Prime Minister of Croatia) isn't good enough for a US president.

"The heads of state of a fifth of the world's countries could attend, but ours has to hide behind walls and guards. That just might say something about us."

I took that to mean you agree that Obama should have gone..

My apologies for the misinterpretation..

But CW is correct that US presidents don't go to rallies,

Really??

So that WASN'T President Bush who spoke to the crowds in the immediate aftermath of 9/11??

It's a non-issue, a manufactured pseudo-scandal.

Of course it is.. Aren't ALL of the scandals that show Democrats frak'ed up nothing but faux scandals?? :D

The track record is AMAZING...

100% of the time ALL scandals that have the GOP on the hot seat are REAL scandals..

100% of the time ALL scandals that have the DEMs on the hot seat are faux scandals..

"Fascinating"
-Spock

That's true even though a few Democrats and a few people on the left have joined the bandwagon.

Up to *AND INCLUDING* President Obama.. :D

All the back-pedaling notwithstanding, Obama himself said it was frak'ed up that no senior official attended...

Now, if you want to argue with him?? (sheeya.. THAT will be the day... :D)

CW,

Um... right... US foreign policy towards SA started with Obama... no red-blooded Republican would EVER have done such a thing... and the last 50 years is all Obama's fault....

You miss my point..

The Left howled and bitched about Saudi under the Bush Administration...

But my point is, the Left fell silent under the Obama Administration because The Messiah yada yada yada yada...

Seriously? You're going to go with that?

Once you understand what I was saying... You betcha.. :D

Still waiting for ANY other historical example of what you're blaming Obama for not doing.

I am not "blaming" Obama.. I am simply saying it looked really REALLY bad.. A point that Obama hisself has agreed with..

Name me ONE American president who joined in with ANY other street demonstration, and I might be willing to listen to you... otherwise, this is just rank political posturing.

OF COURSE it's rank political posturing... Would you expect anything less from Republicans..

Just like it was rank political posturing when Democrats slammed Bush for any one of a million different things..

They're politicians.. Rank political posturing is in the job description...

But that doesn't change the fact that what Obama did (or in this case DIDN'T do) looked really REALLY bad...

Even DSWS and GT agree... Even OBAMA agrees!!

Michale [7] -

OK, that was all laughable, but the funniest part was:

That's because The Messiah has bequeathed that Saudi Arabia is good so the masses must not speak ill of Saudi Arabia..

Um... right... US foreign policy towards SA started with Obama... no red-blooded Republican would EVER have done such a thing... and the last 50 years is all Obama's fault....

Seriously? You're going to go with that?

[8] -

Hoo boy, now you're just off in the weeds...

So who do you predict will be the Dem nominee, if not Hillary?

[9] -

Still waiting for ANY other historical example of what you're blaming Obama for not doing. Just one. Dem or GOP, your choice. ONE example....

Faux outrage is faux outrage. Name me ONE Frenchman (or Frenchwoman) who was outraged, and you might have a sliver of a case... otherwise, not.

This is where you would insert that "Buehler? Anyone?" quote, I might add. Or, from the "old school" snark, I would add: [crickets]

:-)

Republicans ginned this up for their own domestic political agenda. NOBODY in France was outraged. This is because Europeans recognize what ambassadors represent. It's been part of their history for over a thousand years.

You're being played by GOP operatives, dude. Nobody else is outraged -- deal with it. This was never some sort of international snub. It's all fake Obama Derangement Syndrome outrage.

It really does go both ways, don'tcha know... :D

The issue isn't about the complaining. To be clear the WH got what it deserved, they did screw the pooch.

Agreed...

The issue is about the wonderfully comic outrage that the republicans have ginned up. Democrats on this one for a change made the punishment fit the crime they made their statements and moved on. The republicans on the other hand hopped on the train to Hitler town and moral outrageastan.

Ya see, this is my point. Well, one of my many points! :D

ONE GOP moron does something stoopid and the ENTIRE GOP is painted...

Yet, you have ONE Democrat who does something stoopid (and I can give you a LONG list) but that's just an outlier, unreflective of the Party as a whole..

Doesn't that seem just a tad disingenuous??

I don't think that anyone would be talking about republican criticism if they had just made their statements and moved on, which is all the situation required.

You mean, the hammered on a faux pas for political purposes??

Oh the horror!! :D

They are politicians.. It's what they do...

instead they squandered a precious working day not doing the peoples business.

You mean, like never letting a crisis go to waste??

:D

I did not know that the invite was that exclusive.

I guess China, India, Brazil, Canada, Monaco and Serbia had troubles translating the invite.

Afterall, nothing says UNITY Rally like an exclusive world leaders only invite.

Afterall, nothing says UNITY Rally like an exclusive world leaders only invite.

"I would argue that, like alcohol, religion disinhibits violence rather than causing it, and that it does so only when other factors have created conditions favorable toward aggression. I might also argue that under better circumstances religion disinhibits generosity and compassion, increasing giving and helping behaviors. Religion often is centered around authority and text worship (aka “bibliolatry”). Because of this, it has the power to lower the threshold on any behavior sanctioned by either a sacred text or a trusted religious leader and is at its most powerful when one is echoed by the other." - Valerie Tarico

At the end of the day the rally really handed the repubs the opportunity to make a political hay byproduct ....no matter how you slice or spread it.

And the fact that Democrats ALSO complained and the White House ADMITTED that they scrooed the pooch has no meaning whatsoever???

Ya'all go on and on blaming the GOP for every little nit-pick...

What's funn is that is EXACTLY what ya'all accuse the GOP of doing.. :D

I wonder if ya'all can appreciate the irony.. :D

"Have you noticed that, since the midterms, Obama's poll numbers have been climbing? Looks like even before the big speech his public approval is on the rise.",

Have you noticed that, every time Obama's poll numbers rise, it's because Obama is totally awesome....

But every time Obama's poll numbers plunge, it's because the Republicans are being mean and nasty....

Funny how that works, eh? :D

DSWS said it best....

One fifth of the world's leaders were in Paris that day...

The American "leader" wanted to watch the playoffs so he didn't go..

No matter HOW you want to try and spin it, it looks bad...

And I am constrained to point out that Obama agrees with me..

So, when you are arguing with me, you are really arguing with Obama... :D

Medea Benjamin of Code Pink is speaking out about it, but precious few others are doing the same.

That's because The Messiah has bequeathed that Saudi Arabia is good so the masses must not speak ill of Saudi Arabia..

Apparently, this wasn't good enough for some Republicans.

And some Democrats....

Republicans here at home (none of whom attended the march either, by the way) tried to make it some sort of international snub of epic proportions.

And Democrats....

Ever. Neither J.F.K. nor L.B.J. ever marched with Martin Luther King,

Of course not.. They were Democrats and, at the time, it was the Democrats who were AGAINST racial equality...

The problem with Obama or no one senior going is one of optics..

It simply looked bad.. REALLY bad..

Do you know how I know this??

Because Obama's White House said so...

In Drug War news, Mexican cartels have all but stopped smuggling marijuana across the border, because they simply can't compete with legal weed or medicinal weed. They've taken up smuggling meth and heroin instead. The exit of the drug cartels from the marijuana business was indeed predicted by pro-legalization activists as a positive result of legalization, so it's good to see that prediction come true.

Yea, cuz smuggling more meth and herion is MUCH better than smuggling in marijuana... :^/

A clear victory for the freedom of religion!

Since when do liberals take up the causes of organized religions??

Oh, yea.. When they can stick it to GOP Christians.. :D

The two House Democrats who voted for the Republican "Deport them all!" bill certainly deserve at least a (Dis-)Honorable Mention award this week. Even in news reports which meticulously listed all the Republicans who voted against the bill (H.R. 240), few bothered to name the Democrats breaking party ranks. We went to the bill's official roll call to find them, just to set this dishonorable record straight: Brad Ashford (Nebraska's 2nd district) and Collin Peterson (Minnesota's 7th district). Their constituents should feel free to contact them to let them know what you think of their vote.

Isn't it possible they voted that way BECAUSE their constituents wanted them to vote that way??

Remember, those guys work for the people, NOT for the Democrat Party..

Ya'all seem to forget that...

"I'm sorry, but you're complaining that Obama doesn't love the people of France enough? Really? France?!? I'm sorry, but I thought you guys hated France. A decade ago, you were in such a snit you were pouring out French wine into the gutter and demanding we all start saying 'freedom fries,' but now France is, quote, 'our oldest and first ally'? Really? If any Republican honestly thought America wouldn't be properly represented in the march, then why didn't they appear themselves? It's hard to take Republicans' newfound love of France seriously, especially when Bill O'Reilly is still selling a 'Boycott France' bumpersticker on his website. I mean, get your stories straight, guys."

Again, the issue is not France..

The issue is, does our POTUS really want to fight islamic terrorism???

Apparently not, because A> He can't even bring himself to SAY it and 2> He can't be bothered to attend a HUGE historical rally against islamic terrorism. He would rather watch the NFL Playoffs...

France is a red herring. It's Obama's lack of involvement or caring that is the issue here..

And, I am constrained to point out that Obama has stated as much...
