If Blanche does sign a commitment to killing the slush fund and not giving the entire Trump clan immunity forever from tax laws, then he will likely be quickly confirmed.

Nothing a lawyer agrees to on behalf of a client is worth the paper it is written on without the client's agreement via signature thereon. A lawyer cannot even claim that a client refuses to testify in defense of him/herself without the client's agreement given to the Court. This issue is therefore rather moot.

The issue is also already before an appeals Court wherein Judge Williams in the lower court has already ruled against Trump and his DOJ as follows:

* The case was filed in collusion and bad faith for an "improper purpose" in order to manipulate the judicial process rather than to resolve a real dispute.

* The settlement agreement including liability releases and audit immunities is nullified.

* Trump and the federal government are strictly prohibited from citing or using the voided settlement in any future official, administrative, or judicial proceedings.

* Specific attorneys including Blanche have been referred to professional disciplinary bodies to face potential sanctions.

Trump is appealing the issue. Nothing Blanche can concoct on paper or otherwise -- with or without the agreement of Cornyn and/or Tillis -- makes one dang bit of difference without Trump's approval, and a judge has already nullified the agreement.

"Trump is essentially suing himself -- he controls the I.R.S. and the Justice Department, after all."

that alone is a scary thing. as far as I know, he's the only president since Nixon to even try to exert direct authority over those agencies.
