i sometimes have the same sort of thoughts about Zionism. there has been so much definition creep, it's hard to exactly pin down what any individual or group actually believes it is. in my mind there exist both legitimate and illegitimate criticism of the Israeli project, and your article last week about rahm's speech got me thinking about how the names of all these movements can be important. here's a site that talks a little about the labels and why they matter. call gaza an unjust war or an unfair border policy, and most liberal American Jews can get on board. call it "genocide" or "apartheid" and we feel it's us being attacked, not just the cynical righties who currently control the government.
