And here I thought that anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that dark colors absorb wavelengths of light and reflect very few, and (reminder) it's (supposed to be) a reflecting pool. Those absorbed wavelengths of light energy transform into thermal energy -- commonly known as heat -- and will quite obviously raise the temperature of the water contained therein, thus creating a more optimal environment in which algae could thrive. Duh.

There were problems with the paint (not being all the same shade), but they eventually got resolved. The bottom was now "American flag blue," and so they decided to test it out by filling it back up again.

Wait. Don't tell me they filled it with municipal tap water because that would contain phosphates which would actually fertilize algae, and combined with the obviously warmer water environment they created with the heat-absorbing dark paint would essentially constitute an algae utopia.

So when they turned the taps back on, the Reflecting Pool filled up and then almost immediately turned a sickly green. A monstrous algae bloom had taken place (which is a common problem for the Reflecting Pool, but this year's bloom was the worst to happen in many years).

As was easily foreseeable to anyone with a basic understanding of even the simplest concepts of science.

So, to recap: Did we need proof that a narcissist bragging about having an uncle who was a professor at MIT meant diddly-squat for his nephew? No, we didn't, but there you have it.

The word "narcissist" comes from the Greek myth of Narcissus, which tells the story of a young man so enamored of his image in a reflecting pool that he is unable to look away. He eventually dies from his own egotism and turns into a flower.

On reflection, this actually makes total sense in relation to Trump.
