Vance nervously insisted that Trump was just "joking." Vance is currently out on a book tour, essentially launching his 2028 presidential campaign, so he's got to be more than a little worried that he'll soon be looking up at the underside of a rather large bus.

Vance is too busy throwing himself under a bus and therefore needn't concern himself with Trump piling on. Imagine how stupid you would have to be to claim that the Nixon administration's break-in at the Watergate and the subsequent cover-up of the crimes was orchestrated by the "deep state." Vance is an absolute undeniable idiot who needs no help in the bus department, as he is gleefully and voluntarily jumping under the wheels all by himself.

So, to recap: JD Vance claims that Nixon's illegal break-in, illegal government surveillance and obstruction of justice and massive coverup of all of the above -- one of the most heavily documented egregious abuses of presidential power in the history of the United States -- was simply a deep state conspiracy against Poor Richard.
