Damn, I was hoping nobody would notice that...

Not bloody likely!

I have reached out to a musical expert, and will post such a link if I get one, I promise.

Musical expert, you say. Heh.

Praise The Lord And Pass The Snakes
Hot Tuna

SSSSsssssssssss

I said down in Louisiana where a man is a man
And gotta prove his manhood any way that he can
Don't be a coward, show some faith
Praise the Lord and pass the snakes

Praise the Lord, pass the snakes
I said, don't be a coward, show some faith
Praise the Lord, pass the snakes

I said, the whole congregation got to show its guts
There ain't really lot of time, baby we can go first
Don't be a coward, show some faith
Praise the Lord, pass the snakes

Praise the Lord, pass the snakes
I said, don't be a coward, show some faith
Praise the Lord, pass the snakes

Get your mojo workin', get your gris-gris too
Then you jump right in, grab a big handful
Don't be a coward, show some faith
Praise the Lord, pass the snakes

Praise the Lord, pass the snakes
I said, don't be a coward, show some faith
Praise the Lord, pass the snakes

Now they're so very venomous, and they might bite
So you must believe with all your might
Don't be a coward, show some faith
Praise the Lord, pass the snakes

Also, setting aside the relative quality of the insult, this crosses more than one line. Because it is not just the profanity, it crosses a line in politics that Democrats really should respect: never criticize the physical appearance of your opponents.

You seem here to have discounted the fact that the term "ugly" is not solely used to define a person's appearance; the term used here is factual on multiple levels. Having said that, I agree with you that a better quality response was definitely in order, as an example:

Try to keep up, Stephen. James Talarico actually won the nomination several months ago; meanwhile, you're transparently bearing false witness in obvious violation of God's sacred commandments in order to deflect attention away from the Republicans' newly-elected candidate who is in violation of multiple of them. In conclusion, shut up you ugly fuck, and as response in advance to your highly likely hypocritical snowflake whiny weak-ass retort: "Fuck your feelings."

Maybe a little too wordy, but definitely factual. I can see why they likely shortened it. ;)

Galindo actually got the most votes in the Democratic primary, which led to some awfully shady campaign spending, as a "mysterious super PAC with links to Republicans spent nearly $900,000" on her behalf during the runoff election campaign.

She sounds just like a Republican, and it should honestly surprise no one that the Tiki torch carrying "Jews will not replace us" Party of the KKK and white nationalism would boost a demonstrable moron like Galindo. While Democratic leaders rightly denounced and rejected her, you have the flip side of that wherein Trump has pardoned and/or commuted the sentences of hundreds of self-admitted far-right white supremacist neo-Nazis that the leader of the GOP not only condones and champions but also wishes to pay them reparations with your taxpayers' dollars.

To tell the truth, I always kind of saw Springsteen as a guy who could write good songs that Manfred Mann would make better... (many examples!)

And, yeah, Springsteen! Never was a huge fan of him back in the day (was into other things), but he has certainly grown on me over the years (as have others), that's for sure...

@Rusty [6],

while it's undeniable that Democrats face a real challenge on Israel policy, senator Van Hollen didn't do anything impressive about it. his regurgitation of rhetoric and policy prescription from the left is not going to solve the problem any more than status quo apologists taking their AIPAC money and pretending everything is fine. there is a needle to thread, outside of which a policy will lose us more support than it gains. i read the Van Hollen op-ed, and I'm a fan of his work on immigration, but his current take on Israel/Palestine is not workable.

super to see you joining us here in the peanut gallery once again. i for one have been very psyched to see Springsteen reinvent himself as a protest songwriter, from the artistic perspective as much as the political.

And late-breaking news gives us another honorable mention, for going out in style:

'Rep. Frederica Wilson, a Democrat from Florida known for championing education causes and expanding opportunities for Black communities, announced Friday she will not seek reelection.
...
“I know all of you are saying, ‘What is the congresswoman going to do?’ Well, the congresswoman is going to not seek another term,” she said to a collective “aw” from the crowd gathered.'

And for pointing out an obvious problem with the Democratic Party - and IMO which contributed to Kamala's loss - at least an honorable mention goes to Sen. Van Hollen of MD.

The first paragraph of his NYT opinion piece says it all:
'Democrats need to face a hard truth. While Republicans’ approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has failed, so has ours. The Democratic Party has provided reflexive and unconditional support to Israeli governments, even as their actions have increasingly undermined American interests and values.'

Another TX primary winner deserves at least an honorable mention:
'Colin Allred, a former NFL linebacker and Democratic congressman, is projected to win Tuesday’s Democratic primary runoff in Texas’s 33rd Congressional District.
...
The race for the newly redrawn 33rd District set up an awkward successor-versus-predecessor dynamic with Allred and Johnson.'

In the bittersweet MIDOW, we have the probable new Representative from TX:
'Rep. Christian Menefee (D-Texas) has defeated Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) in an unusual Democratic primary runoff election that pitted two current House members against each other for a redrawn district
...
Menefee, 38, highlighted his youth while courting older voters as he fought for the Houston-area seat.'

Speak2 -

Thanks for the kind words!

Damn, I was hoping nobody would notice that...

Look, I was in my usual Friday frenzy, and tried to find lyrics for the song, but for some reason with this particular song, Google seems to not understand, "No I want to see the LYRICS, dammit!" and so I had no link for the citation...

I have reached out to a musical expert, and will post such a link if I get one, I promise.

(For those who haven't heard it, Google does provide video/audio links, and it is pretty hilarious!!)
