You seem here to have discounted the fact that the term "ugly" is not solely used to define a person's appearance; the term used here is factual on multiple levels. Having said that, I agree with you that a better quality response was definitely in order, as an example:

while it's undeniable that Democrats face a real challenge on Israel policy, senator Van Hollen didn't do anything impressive about it. his regurgitation of rhetoric and policy prescription from the left is not going to solve the problem any more than status quo apologists taking their AIPAC money and pretending everything is fine. there is a needle to thread, outside of which a policy will lose us more support than it gains. i read the Van Hollen op-ed, and I'm a fan of his work on immigration, but his current take on Israel/Palestine is not workable.

Look, I was in my usual Friday frenzy, and tried to find lyrics for the song, but for some reason with this particular song, Google seems to not understand, "No I want to see the LYRICS, dammit!" and so I had no link for the citation...
