In all honesty, we here in Texas have known Cornyn was going to lose since he failed to garner 50% +1 vote in order to avoid a runoff. I may have mentioned a time or ten that a runoff election in Texas is where incumbents generally go to die, and there's a simple explanation for that (which, not surprisingly, generally goes unmentioned by the mainstream news media): Texas has open primaries.

* No one registers by Party in the State of Texas.
* On primary election day, everyone can make the choice to vote in either Party's primary.
* Everyone can vote in one Party’s primary per election cycle but not both Parties. When you vote during the primary, you are asked in which primary you choose to participate during that cycle and receive the ballot for that Party.

Contrary to the popular belief of many, it definitely was not just Republicans who chose Paxton, and hundreds of thousands of those who chose him in the primary will most definitely not be choosing him again in the general.

Making Republicans divert many more millions that could have gone to other races all over America is a win for Democrats nationwide whether or not they win the Senate seat in Texas. :)
