Because all the economic indicators are pointing the wrong direction for what Trump desperately wants: lower interest rates. In fact, with inflation heading through the roof with no relief in sight, the new Fed chair may just be forced to increase interest rates to try to calm inflation down.

I know, right!? It's freaking hysterical, and the inflation that'll either raise the fed or at the very least leave it in place (not lower it) is all on Trump and his very own ignorant decisions to start a unilateral illegal global trade war that caused inflation to soar to new heights and add to that by Trump starting his war of choice in Iran that caused inflation in gasoline, jet fuel, and energy prices in general.

Personally, I can't wait to see Trump explode into a tantrum if that happens!

Lowering the fed at the present time in order to please Trump would be absolute nuts, a catalyst for an even worse economy, and Trump owes it all to his own greed.

At what point do the MAGAts finally clue in that Trump could not care less about them... and never did. It's hysterical to watch them make excuses for their grifting con artist.

And at least a dishonorable mention goes to a person who otherwise would hardly be newsworthy. One has to wonder, why announce it to the world and why now?

'A Pennsylvania state Supreme Court justice said Monday he is leaving the Democratic Party over what he sees as a rise in antisemitism from mainstream party figures.

Justice David Wecht, who was elected to the court as a
Democrat in 2015, said in a statement he is switching his party affiliation to independent due to an “acquiescence to Jew-hatred” becoming “disturbingly common among activists, leaders and even many elected officials in the Democratic Party.”'

At least an honorable mention goes to a victor in the Democratic primary in "fly-over country".

'Denise Powell won the Democratic primary in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District on Wednesday in a contest focused on the state’s “blue dot” status in presidential elections.

The Omaha-area district, where Republican U.S. Rep. Don Bacon is retiring, is one of Democrats’ biggest targets this midterm season. It’s also a national focus every four years in presidential contests because Nebraska is one of just two states that splits its electoral votes. '

I'll have to mark 14 May on my calendar as a red-letter day - Fetterman receives the MDDOW!

I'm still mystified why CW has, up until yesterday, completely omitted any mention of the Senator from Pennsylvania. Despite his faithful allegiance to the GOP, as was made clear early in the current Congress when he approved almost every one of Trump's Cabinet nominees (look it up if you don't remember), it is clear that CW has a blind spot when it comes Sen. Fetterman.

In addition to the vote cited by CW in awarding him MDDOW, Sen. Fetterman was the lone Democrat in another important vote this week:
'The Senate confirmed Kevin Warsh’s nomination to a 14-year term on the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors on Tuesday, teeing up a final vote to make the ally of President Donald Trump the central bank’s next chair.

The 51-45 vote was largely along party lines, with Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania the only Democrat to vote in favor of Warsh ....'

I stopped lamenting months ago, accepting that CW has lost the plot. But CW has cited it in this week's FTP column - 'We began writing this column series lo these many years ago to help tongue-tied Democrats formulate snappy lines ' - I will note once again that rarely more than half of the TPs each week are clear and 'snappy'.

This week, for example, Nos 1, 2, 4, and 6 meet this definition. The others are befuddling ('Road Trip!'?), unless they're supposed to make someone 'click here to learn more'.

whoops mis posted this on yesterday's column:

as long as Donald is naming military operations after Peter Gabriel songs, I think "no self-control" would be a better choice.
