How long will it take for America to recover from this disaster? If in fact we ever can - he was, after all, elected twice by our American voters.

I can't help thinking if Elizabeth Miller were here, she would definitely have something to say about it, and it would highly likely include the words "Augean" and "stables" and maybe Hercules (Roman) or Heracles (original Greek).

Thanks, nyp [1]:

"fatigue and anger" is almost my perpetual feeling for many years now at the thought that this American president - in the seat of Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, etc. - habitually lies, steals, abuses power, abuses women, expresses his racism openly, and hires only incompetent sycophants to run his government.

Affordability problems were, simultaneously, a "dirty, rotten lie" spread by devilish Democrats -- but also somehow a real problem that they had caused (not him!). The more astute viewer of the speech might have wondered how it could be both of those things, but consistency is a hobgoblin Trump's little mind simply doesn't even register.

I know, right!? When has Trump's tiny little mind ever been able to connect any dots whatsoever? It's freaking hysterical to watch him prattling on and on repetitively, spending an inordinate amount of time in blame-shifting to Joe Biden when one (obviously) needn't shift blame at all if things are actually so freaking wonderful... not exactly rocket science.

Trump suggests tariffs paid for by foreign countries (nope, actually paid by importers/Americans) will replace income taxes!? Spew alert. That's nuts, a special kind of stupid, effing hysterical and absolute garbage.

Just when you think it can't get more stupid than that:

I've always wanted the Congressional Medal of Honor, but I was informed I'm not allowed to give it to myself, and I wouldn't know why I'd be taking it. But if they ever opened up that law I will be there with you someday.

~ Donald Trump, 2026 State of the Union

*laughs* Under federal law, the Medal of Honor is awarded exclusively to U.S. military service members, and Cadet Bone Spurs is definitely not one, has never been one and far from it. Why would they change the law?

Poor Dumb Donald presents on a global stage and whines like a toddler about not being able to award himself with a Congressional Medal of Honor... but not before he ridiculously claims how the United States is more respected in the world because of him. *laughs*

It's the golden age of comedy, and Trump and his MAGA cult minions have no idea how absolutely ridiculous he appears to anyone with an IQ over 100.

i had it on silent with closed captions. it's hard to put a finger on the feelings it brought up. mainly sadness, i think, but also fatigue and anger at the damage this administration is doing to the United States.
