@bashi,

it doesn't take very many to be intimidating. 2 ice agents at 11,000 particular polling places would not be sneezed at.

Steve Bannon is an idiot. 22,000 ICE agents, over 100,000 polling places last election. Even just targeting swing states "surround" seems very optimistic...

steve bannon says ice will surround polling places in november. does anyone doubt that might actually come to pass? perhaps democratic congresscritters will grow a backbone when they realize this is about their own jobs as well as the lives of citizens.

For starters, ICE agents and other federal officers will no longer be allowed to wear masks to conceal their identities from the public.

ICE/CBP agents didn't generally begin wearing masks until March 2025 so it shouldn't be all too much of an inconvenience for them to go back to not wearing them.

I mean, how hard is it for the GOP and MAGAt morons to grasp the FACT that many of these lawmakers and masked morons are the same ones who demanded they not be forced via mandates to wear any masks during the COVID pandemic?

Remember GOP morons like Tucker Carlson (then on FOX) telling MAGAts that if they saw anyone wearing a mask, they should confront them? Remember the MAGAts mocking George Floyd's death and claiming "I can't breathe," while protesting the mask mandates? You think any of these low-info Righties clamoring for the use of masks have an inkling of a clue of how absolutely batshit they appear doing a complete 180 now and advocating for masking?

After all, no other police force regularly allows officers to wear masks when performing their duties, so why should ICE?

They shouldn't. ICE, DHS, and the MAGAt minions argue hysterically that they have a right to wear masks to protect themselves and their families, a complete 180 from their arguments during the COVID pandemic that they shouldn't have to mask; so apparently protecting the public doesn't seem to be something they are particularly concerned about... despite the fact that it's literally their job.

Some Republicans (again, mostly in the House) are already balking at Schumer's list of reforms. In particular, Speaker Mike Johnson is pushing back against the "no masks" rule and the requirement for judicial warrants.

Johnson claims Democrats are being hypocritical for demanding the mask mandates during the COVID pandemic that was killing people and now demanding the unmasking of officers (long after the COVID pandemic has eased). Does Mike actually think for one minute that Democrats wouldn't reinstate mask mandates in order to prevent the spread of a deadly virus? He can't be this stupid.

Little Johnson concedes that masks protect the officers and their families from people, and therein lies the fault in his tiny little mind. Republicans repeatedly fail to understand that the prime directive of law enforcement is to protect and to serve the people... and not the other way around. You will note that Mike Johnson didn't give a hang about the officers taking measures to mask and protect people during a deadly pandemic and only now is concerned about the officers masking up, however, in order to protect themselves. He simply cannot be this stupid.

@cw,
perhaps I'm not understanding this correctly, because i thought the shutdown had already been averted when the five other bills were passed. if the Democratic demands aren't met, can't Schumer just let DHS funding expire and let that be that until they are?
