I don't usually agree with george monbiot, but this time he's got it on the nose:

It's some deep psychological thing, but when you win the presidency, you don't win the midterms.

~ Donald Trump

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FACT CHECK: False

* FDR's (first midterms) gained +9 House and +9 Senate

* JFK lost only -4 in the House but gained +4 in the Senate

* Bill Clinton (as a lame duck) picked up +5 House lost 0 in the Senate

* George W. Bush picked up +8 House and +2 in the Senate
(via off-year gerrymandering)

Even Joe Biden only lost -9 in the House +1 in the Senate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Trump is obviously no JFK or FDR, and it appears Trump is poised to get his ass kicked in his lame duck midterms while even Bill Clinton picked up seats in his.

Trump told the news agency, before boasting that he had achieved so much that "when you think of it, we shouldn't even have an election."

In point of fact, when you think of it and have a brain, it's actually written into the Constitution (Article I, Section 4) and would be a violation of Trump's sworn oath to God and America to uphold that thing. Congress could change it, but Trump doesn't even have the votes in the House to do that.

The presence of Caesar and his legion in Italy forced Pompey, the consuls, and a large part of the senate to flee Rome. Caesar's victory in the subsequent civil war ensured that he would never be punished for his actions.

~ Wikipedia

Never be punished?

Did Wikipedia perchance mention that Caesar was assassinated primarily by Gaius Cassius Longinus and Marcus Junius Brutus and that after the Battle of Pharsalus in the civil war, Caesar had pardoned and granted them office despite the fact they fought with Pompey against him? Maybe Wikipedia explained how Cassius and Brutus along with many multiple other Senators assassinated Caesar on 15 March 44 BC?

Basically, Caesar's "punishment" was becoming Rome's absolute ruler for which he was assassinated by the frenemies he pardoned because they were convinced he aimed to establish a monarchy, a system that they despised since overthrowing their last king.

Any of this ringing a bell? ;)
