Coffee prices have skyrocketed this year, but Trump will deserve exactly zero credit for "fixing" the problem. He's like a guy who sets fire to your house and then puts it out and wants to be congratulated for dousing the fire -- that he himself lit.

Trump is like the juvenile delinquent who fatally wounded his mother and father and petitioned the Court for leniency because he was recently orphaned.

As pointed out by Lawrence O'Donnell, 3 of those Dems had already been voting with the GOP, so 5 changed position. I don't know if it was the right decision or not. It did seem like the GOP was willing to inflict a lot of pain. Las Vegas is dependent on air travel, so that explains the two NV senators' votes and Kaine represents a lot of federal workers who were not getting paid.

...
City Council President Mary Sheffield is on track to soon take office as Detroit’s next mayor, making history as the first woman to be elected to serve in the position.'

'As Johnson prepared to take questions from reporters in front of the House steps, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.), shouting from behind a row of reporters, asked Johnson if he needed a phone number for House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.).
...
“YOU should respect free speech,” Houlahan responded. “I’m asking you a question, if you’re ready to have a conversation with the other side. …. You have an obligation to call the leadership of both parties and bring us together and solve this problem together, Mr. Speaker.”'

' some of the party’s most astounding wins played out down lower on ballots, and they won’t get as much national attention. These were races for things like school boards, city councils, state legislative seats and an obscure public service commission.
...
There were lots of school board elections on Tuesday, in red and blue states like Pennsylvania, Washington, Kansas, Idaho, Colorado and Texas.
...
Democrats in the Mississippi state Senate appear to have picked up two new seats on Tuesday — and throttled the GOP’s supermajority hold of the Senate for the first time in 13 years.
...
In New Jersey, Democrats have picked up at least three new seats and may gain more as election officials process late-arriving mail ballots. Those three new seats mean Democrats will control at least 55 of the chamber’s 80 seats, ...
...
In Virginia, Democrats boosted their majority in the state House from 51 to 64 seats, with one race still undecidd.
...
Democrats won county seats all over Pennsylvania.
...
... two Democrats just trounced Republican incumbents [for Georgia Public Service Commission] in a statewide race in Georgia, marking the first time Democrats have won a statewide constitutional office here since 2006.
...
City councils, like school boards, shifted left all across red and blue states.'

'New Mexico became on Saturday [Nov 1] the first U.S. state to offer free child care to all residents in a bid to boost its economy and lift education and child welfare levels ranked the worst in the country.

Under the program, families, regardless of income, can receive state vouchers to cover public and private child care fees. It culminates efforts New Mexico has made to expand access to free child care since the governor and state legislature created the Early Childhood Education and Care Department in 2019.'

So here the belated nominees:

'As the government shutdown enters its second month, Senate Democrats are taking their fight for enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies to the red state of Florida, which leads the nation in Obamacare enrollees at nearly 5 million people.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) will hold a roundtable discussion with residents and health care providers in Miami on Monday as part of an effort to spotlight Republicans' refusal to extend the tax credits, which are due to expire at the end of the year.'

I don't have a dog in this fight (as they say in Arkansas), but the omission of Mr Mandani as MIDOW is astounding.
