Donald Trump and his administration seem rather ill-equipped to handle such news.

Oh, really!? You, sir, seem blissfully unaware of the breaking Fox news:

They have this new word called "affordability," and they [referring to Republicans] don't talk about it enough. Democrats did.

~ Donald Trump, yesterday, 11/05/25

*

I don't want to hear about the affordability.

~ Donald Trump, today, 11/06/25

Imagine being that totally daft and absolute stone-cold batshit bonkers!

Their answer to bad economic news, from Trump on down, is to deny it and lie about it.

When Trump has his US Solicitor General, D. John Sauer, argue before the United States Supreme Court that Trump's taxes (and I quote) "are not revenue-raising tariffs," referring to the tens of billions of dollars in taxes as (and I again quote) "only incidental," it doesn't get more knowingly false than that bullshit. Sauer literally lied to the SCOTUS that Trump's taxes "are clearly regulatory tariffs, not taxes."

Got that? The tariffs are not revenue-raising tariffs and also not taxes but regulatory tariffs.

Not to get hung up on those darn pesky facts, but the Trump Tariffs aren't just massive taxes on Americans that are the catalyst for skyrocketing prices and also the record layoff announcements being reported near daily, they are unconstitutional taxes because (no big secret) the sole power to levy taxes belongs to the Legislative Branch -- Article I, Section 8 -- which includes the power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts, and excises to fund federal debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare and cannot be exercised by the POTUS or other branches without an Act of Congress; however, Republicans in Congress are helots and cowards who would lose their ever-loving shit if either Obama or Biden unconstitutionally raised taxes on Americans because one of them got their knickers in a twist over a freaking commercial that aired during the World Series! Speaking of which, you just know those GOP helots would be just fine and dandy if Obama unilaterally disappeared the entirety of the East Wing of the White House in order to install a ballroom resembling a whore house, but I digress.

In conclusion, not all Americans are stupid so I strongly urge Trump's Little Johnson, the MAGAts, the Castrated Caucus of subservient helots, and the Guardians Of Pedophiles to continue to lie to Americans how great things are while still pushing the absolute fantasy that their nonexistent healthcare plan that is being introduced [checks notes] any day now and is going to be just wonderful for the millions of Americans being thrown off their health insurance by Trump and the GOP.

Rant over. :)

So there's no data on how many people got hired during the same period, to counterbalance the layoffs. But even so, the numbers are a bit alarming.

Um, in this economic environment and with these numbers I doubt that there will be any significant hiring to counterbalance the losses.
