Being that Hitler has (famously and obviously) been dead since April 1945, and Pol Pot has been dead since April 1998, no real reason to waste two good bullets on two corpses. <--- bad joke

Give me a dang break, this was obviously a tasteless joke about how much the guy [who here had even had ever heard of Jay Jones before this?] obviously disliked the other guy and felt the feeling was mutual. Seen this one before with Hitler, bin-Laden, and Toby -- The Office -- where they even demonstrate how to kill them all with one bullet:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIoqlLU4E74

Am I supposed to seriously get my knickers all in a twist about a dumb joke that a guy sent in 2022 in a private text to the wrong person? Too bad it missed its "mark" because I would wager Mark would have understood its meaning.

Disqualifying? I would say that is for the voters of Virginia to decide. If I was a Virginia voter, I definitely would not vote for a Republican based on a private text containing a stupid joke that was inadvertently sent to the wrong person, but that's just me, and I've heard that stupid joke many times, albeit with different names... except almost always Hitler.

It really bothers me when you talk about hurting people or wishing death on them
It isn't ok
No matter who they are

~ Carrie Coyner

Republicans are obviously stupid because it is never not "ok" to wish death on Hitler.

Imagine if Kamala had proposed a $15 minimum wage and legalization of weed. But fucking Joe Biden insisted she run her campaign “with zero daylight” from his policies and therefore America was willing to once again roll the dice on Trump.

FPC
This is easier to read and presents the case that the Overton Window should be considerably more to “the left” than legacy media would have us believe.

And what might We the People want?
Let’s check polling support for the following ideas:

86% to 93%
Universal Background Checks

81%
Improving Enforcement of Existing Laws

81%
Raising Legal Age to Buy a Gun to 21

80%
"Red Flag" Laws (Extreme Risk Protection Orders)

70% - 74%
Universal Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K)

66% - 70%
Prioritizing Renewable Energy over Fossil Fuels

65% - 75%
Making the ACA's Tax Credits Permanent

61% to 63%
Banning Assault-Style Weapons

63% - 79%
Wealth Tax (on the ultra-rich)

63% to 64%
Abortion Legal in All/Most Cases, versus Illegal in All/Most Cases around 36%

63% - 66%
Ending Qualified Immunity for Police

60% - 67%
$15 Federal Minimum Wage (or $12 in some States)

59% - 81%
Green New Deal support when described in terms of its goals (jobs, clean energy)

55% - 60%
Medicare for All (Single-Payer)

50% - 60%
Public Financing of Elections (aka Getting Money Out of Politics)

The bottom line is that the country as a whole are Radical Marxist Socialist Commies and therefore the Overton Window should be farther to the left of where it is.

Dems will win if they return to their Progressive roots and will lose if they keep running as “Republican-lite” who do not address this most fundamental issue plaguing America. Rolling back Reaganism will solve most of our problems and restore the American Dream!

Enough with the Establishment so-called Democrats. They don’t even whisper the notion of Rolling back the Reaganism that’s killing our New Deal.
But they sure to blame Progressives when they lose.

**Full disclosure: I used Google Gemini AI to obtain these polling numbers. It was easy! It was fun!

I'd say this guy is reckless and bizarre and probably shouldn't be VA AG. On the other hand, he wasn't making public statements. I don't know about calling text messages "rhetoric".

I also don't know who he's running against but "knuckle-dragging ghoul" is more likely than not. I would not encourage Dems to play by the old rules while MAGAts say and do whatever they please.

What if he wins and then resigns? Does the gov get to pick his replacement? I'd favor that outcome.

I'm with Chris here. Dems can hardly bemoan the GOP's descent into brutal and Fascist rhetoric if they are indulging their own side's similar performances.
This isn't the same as "playing hardball" in terms of political tactics, which the Dems should be doing more of. This is about stopping politics from becoming blood sport with real blood.

really??? I mean, I'm not suggesting the guy get any person of the year awards, but quit a campaign just because you said something nasty and inappropriate? half the white house and their friends have been party to rape and pedophilia, and a Democrat should quit over some mean words?
