This is hopefully easier to read

And what might We the People want?
Let’s check polling support for the following ideas:

86% to 93%
Universal Background Checks

81%
Improving Enforcement of Existing Laws

81%
Raising Legal Age to Buy a Gun to 21

80%
"Red Flag" Laws (Extreme Risk Protection Orders)

70% - 74%
Universal Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K)

66% - 70%
Prioritizing Renewable Energy over Fossil Fuels

65% - 75%
Making the ACA's Tax Credits Permanent

61% to 63%
Banning Assault-Style Weapons

63% - 79%
Wealth Tax (on the ultra-rich)

63% to 64%
Abortion Legal in All/Most Cases, versus Illegal in All/Most Cases around 36%

63% - 66%
Ending Qualified Immunity for Police

60% - 67%
$15 Federal Minimum Wage (or $12 in some States)

59% - 81%
Green New Deal support when described in terms of its goals (jobs, clean energy)

55% - 60%
Medicare for All (Single-Payer)

50% - 60%
Public Financing of Elections (aka Getting Money Out of Politics)

This ** concludes by reminding that,
“Deep Partisan and Racial Splits:
Issues related to social and racial justice (like reparations or qualified immunity) and large-scale economic overhauls see the most significant and entrenched partisan and racial divisions.”

Bottom line, either the country as a whole are Radical Marxist Socialist Commies or else the Overton Window should be far to the left of where it is.

Dems will win if they return to their Progressive roots. Enough with the Establishment so-called Democrats. They don’t even whisper the notion of Rolling back Reaganism and that’s killing our New Deal.
But they sure to blame Progressives when they lose.
**Full disclosure: I used Google Gemini AI to obtain these polling numbers.

OK, finally kicked out and had to re-login this morning. I had the comment box open last night. This is pretty standard across the three macs I use to surf. A M1 laptop, M3 imac and an older i5 intel Mac. All Firefox with UBlock Origin installed. Two have "Disable JavaScript" installed as well, but that's off unless I turn it on per site and it's off for this one...

@Liz,
it's annoying but not complicated. for whatever reason on many browsers this site times out a login in a shorter time than most people can write a post. the only sure-fire workaround is to log in, write a post, click select all and click copy. then go back on the browser to log in again, quickly paste and post before it times out again.

STRICTLY SPEAKING I didn’t say which Friday I’d offer y’all my promised autopsy of last year along with the Democrat’s Way Out.

First, how and why wadis we get here:

IN THE BEGINNING there was the New Deal, which gave us the many benefits that makes us a modern country. Republicans fought it tooth and nail back then and they’ve never stopped trying to undo it ever since. Much like they want to roll us back to the 1950s. Or maybe the 1850s with some of them. Democrats ceased to be the party of FDR going back to Carter’s 1980 reelection. Carter declined to campaign against Reagan’s claims that “government is the problem and I’m going to shrink it.” So Carter, every subsequent Democratic Presidential candidate and the party in general did not campaign against “voodoo economics” and “so y’all want Social Security and food inspections and FEMA to go away? That’s what Republicans want!” at all in four decades tells me that the Democratic donor class likes all of these tax cuts as much as their Republican counterparts and thus we have “Establishment Democrats”. Why else would Dems not attack these weaknesses? This is why I despise both Slick Willy and Obama — and they got four votes out of me. Both Hillary and Kamala lost because they didn’t offer any change to the status quo. People are angry because they know America isn’t working for them. Rolling back Reaganism’s tax cuts for the rich. Yup, back to a 70% top rate. Truth is our GDP grew best when it was 91% (“…that’s ONE for you and TEN for me, cuz I’m the tax man…”) Except for those making up to $150/$300k per year. Because when we 90% get extra money we spend it, which is great for our economy. The rich spend some but tuck most of their thousands away. The cure for the Democrats is for them to (1) undo Reaganism and get our $50 trillion back, and (2) otherwise give the People what they want. What things? Let’s look at polling support for the following proposals: 86% to 93% Universal Background Checks 81% Improving Enforcement of Existing Laws 81% Raising Legal Age to Buy a Gun to 21 80% "Red Flag" Laws (Extreme Risk Protection Orders) 70% - 74% Universal Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) 66% - 70% Prioritizing Renewable Energy over Fossil Fuels 65% - 75% Making the ACA's Tax Credits Permanent 61% to 63% Banning Assault-Style Weapons 63% - 79% Wealth Tax (on the ultra-rich) 63% to 64% Abortion Legal in All/Most Cases, versus Illegal in All/Most Cases around 36% 63% - 66% Ending Qualified Immunity for Police 60% - 67% $15 Federal Minimum Wage (or $12 in some States) 59% - 81% Green New Deal support when described in terms of its goals (jobs, clean energy) 55% - 60% Medicare for All (Single-Payer) 50% - 60% Public Financing of Elections (aka Getting Money Out of Politics) Mind you, it says at the bottom: • “Deep Partisan and Racial Splits: Issues related to social and racial justice (like reparations or qualified immunity) and large-scale economic overhauls see the most significant and entrenched partisan and racial divisions.” EVEN SO these numbers reveal that the majority of us are apparently Radical Commie Socialists Democrats! Dems will win if they return to their Progressive roots. Death to the Establishment Democrats! They won’t undo Reaganism and won’t try Progressivism — they just blame it when they lose.

I’d love to hear Weigantia feedback!

[Full disclosure: I used AI Google Gemini to research these polling numbers.]

Ah, Jane Fonda *sigh*. I’ve always been the biggest fanboy of that Gal.

These are both reasonable things to demand, since achieving these goals would mean 15 million Americans will not be kicked off Medicaid, and people who buy health insurance on the Obamacare exchanges won't see their premiums go up by 75 or 100 percent (or even more) when the new year dawns.

Personally, though, we think reversing the Medicaid cuts is going to be too big an ask, at least at this point. It would mean adding a trillion dollars of spending, instead of a few hundred billion, for one. And the Medicaid cuts are not as immediate, since they were designed to all take place after the midterm elections.

So which is it? IMO this second paragraph reflects Democratic timidness and lack of a spine. Republicans are perfectly willing to add trillions to the debt along with their #NoMillionairesLeftBehind tax cut but Democrats should be afraid to restore a trillion dollars to a pillar of our Social safety net? Jesus no wonder Democrats are called the Mommy Party!
