I'm impressed by the subtlety of your proposed strategy for the Dems, but I worry that 1) it's too subtle for the Dems' messaging wing, which trips trying to do 'obvious' and has never succeeded at all with 'subtle'; and 2) it seems to beg to be included in the already-long list that you mention of 'the party that tries a shut-down to get its message across to the American people always finds out it doesn't work that way'. Having said that, if Democrats are actually going to follow through on the shutdown stupidity, they should demand that the GOP "put on your big boy pants and release the files." Obviously, this will require a huge diaper for Fat Donny (as per usual) and an end to the coverup of the Epstein files they're refusing to release. Shutdowns are stupid and nonproductive (in my opinion) regardless of which Party is doing them.
