I noticed Craig Gurian got the exact same answers from Cuomo to his hard hitting and only slightly leading questions. Are both Cuomo and Mamdani hiding from the issues or is Craig Gurian too small a fry in the local NYC political media scene to get his questions answered?

This is why I never supported Bernie. If he had made it to the general, this is exactly what it would have looked like. Well, maybe with a lot more Ronald Reagan quotes...

economic populism, even when its intentions are good (which is far from a certainty in most cases), can be a double edged sword. this is the main reason why i'm suspicious of the democratic nominee for NYC mayor. he's making populist claims left and right, but mostly left, some of which I might support if I trusted him to be an honest broker for those reforms.

but even before we get into mamdani's views on middle-east policy, everything i've seen about him leads me to believe that he's trolling the populism for personal power, just like Donald does, rather than sincerely trying to implement people-friendly policy with no ulterior personal agenda.

so yes, stuff costs too much, and the government should help. but expanding executive power and refusing to engage in compromise are authoritarian tactics, not democratic-socialist ones.
