Today, Donald Trump rolled out the red carpet for authoritarian thug Vladimir Putin. Instead of standing with Ukraine and our allies, Trump stood shoulder to shoulder with an autocrat that has terrorized the Ukrainian people and the globe for years.

While we wait for critical details of what was discussed -- on first take it appears Trump handed Putin legitimacy, a global stage, zero accountability, and got nothing in return.

~ Chuck Shumer

Nothing in return!?

So it appears Chuck Shumer is also just going to totally discount the lovely photo that Putin sent to Trump! ;)

Trump was (as usual) optimistic about the meeting and his own ability to make a deal, saying: "I believe a peace agreement at the end of all of this is something that's very attainable, and it can be done in the near future.... We will come to a resolution today, I think, on almost everything."

Almost everything! *laughs*

In the end, they came to a resolution on almost nothing.

But wait, CW! Did you not see that picture that Putin sent to Trump which he held up and bragged about!?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTgfCm6bfbs&list=RDNSJTgfCm6bfbs&start_radio=1

Fat Donny got a picture from Putin to show for it; all he needs now is a heart-shaped frame to display it in.

The key subjects of the talks (the security guarantees and the future summit meetings) were based on Trump either lying about what Putin had promised, or just proving how badly he got duped by Putin (take your pick...).

You're just going to continue to discount the lovely photo!? ;) *laughs*

Arms deals (with the EU for starters), energy corridors — spanning Canada from ocean to ocean and deftly handling our Man-Baby President shows Carney is the right choice in the moment.

BTW Elizabeth, I’ve been closely following developments in Canada and I’m proud that first, Maple Trump guy not only (came from ahead) and got himself unmistakably repudiated to the degree that he even lost his own Riding (that’s metric, I think. In Freedom Units we call it a Congressional Seat).

At least y’all had the sensibility to make something out of what Murica is putting itself through…

John M from Ct.,

Thanks for posting that! Orlando has always been champions for the LGBTQ+ community and its members. The cowardice of DeSantis and Republicans in Florida is sickening to witness. The crosswalk was installed BY THE STATE to honor the 49 lives that were stolen in the Pulse massacre in 2017. While they could only use chalk to re-color the crosswalk and not paint, I have a feeling that they will keep that crosswalk chalked for quite some time.

LWYH on [1] and [2]:

This just in, I saw from Newsweek on my political news feed:

"in Orlando have defied Republican Governor Ron DeSantis and reinstated a rainbow crosswalk outside the Pulse nightclub, after Florida officials removed the painted crossing installed in memory of the 49 people killed at the site in 2016.

"The restoration was led by local community members and LGBTQ+ advocates who gathered at the intersection following the overnight state-directed repainting. In a video shared to social media by the account @jeremy_rodrigue, people can be seen DIY-ing the rainbow crosswalk and drawing the colors back onto the ground.

" 'While this attack was meant to demoralize us and push us back in the closet, Orlando refused to be erased,' Democratic state Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith, who became the first openly gay Latino elected to the Florida legislature in 2016, told Newsweek. 'It was inspiring to see so many local residents spring into action in response to the Governor's cowardly abuse of power.' "

A rainbow crosswalk honouring the victims of the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting in Florida, Orlando, has been painted over by the state's department of transportation.

The crosswalk was part of a larger memorial to the 49 people who were killed after a gunman opened fire at the gay nightclub in June 2016, in what was then the largest mass shooting in US history.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said he was "devastated" by its removal, calling it a "cruel political act" on social media.

"This crosswalk not only enhanced safety and visibility for the large number of pedestrians visiting the memorial, it also served as a visual reminder of Orlando's commitment to honour the 49 lives taken," he said.
