As for Trump, I'm left wondering if he doesn't understand that the so-called 'minerals' deal he ostensibly wanted to sign with Z is wholly without substance.

Absolutely totally without substance. He definitely seems to not understand, but Trump will do what he always does and profusely propagandize and confuse the MAGAts with lies and gaslighting.

"The U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) most recent Mineral Commodity Summaries does not list Ukraine as having any rare earths reserves. The country also has zero existing rare earths mines, processing facilities or known reserves."

You will confuse them with Science.

Of course, the maps being used throughout the media tell a different story. That's because they come from the notorious Institute For the Study of War, run by the same neocons who cheer-leaded the 2003 Iraq War. Quelle surprise!

There’s no way a MAGAt is going to listen to a long paragraph in conversation.

And if one does, it's almost guaranteed the subject matter will fly right over its tiny little unfocused mind. They generally prattle on and on with a list of whining grievances that are usually dead-on accurate depictions of themselves. You can't fix stupid, but the hats make it easy to identify.

I prefer, for example, Racism** puts the “R” in “Republican”.

**or Rich Bastards/Rifle Freaks/Religious Freaks/Reactionaries

Russian useful idiots.

Is THAT the "bubble" you are referring to, you retarded Democrat moron?? :eyeroll:

For example, retard... Here is a comment whose basis comes from MSNBC...

The recent commentary blaming President Trump for the downward trend in economic data is not only misguided but also lacks a factual basis. The author seems to be engaging in a hysterical fear-mongering campaign, attempting to pin the blame for complex economic issues squarely on Trump’s shoulders, despite the fact that he has not been in office long enough to enact policies that would significantly impact the real world.

The assertion that Trump's economic agenda has "spooked" consumers and businesses is a gross oversimplification. Economic sentiment can fluctuate for a myriad of reasons, and attributing this solely to Trump's tariffs and policies ignores the broader context. For instance, the Consumer Confidence survey's recent decline is just one data point in a noisy series, and it’s important to recognize that economic conditions are influenced by a multitude of factors, including global events and pre-existing economic stressors.

Moreover, the author fails to acknowledge that the "hard data"—such as jobs, GDP, and unemployment—still reflect a robust economy. The claim that businesses are "clearly concerned" and know who to blame is laughable. Businesses have always navigated uncertainty, and to suggest that they are solely attributing their challenges to Trump’s policies is an oversimplification of the complexities they face.

In essence, the author is long on alarmist rhetoric but short on actual facts. It’s easy to point fingers and create a narrative of doom, but the reality is that economic trends take time to develop and are influenced by a wide array of factors. Instead of scapegoating Trump, perhaps a more nuanced analysis of the economic landscape is warranted.

You really are a retarded Democrat, ain'tcha Bash??? :eyeroll:

Considering how many dates you have gotten completely wrong in the last bunch of posts, I wouldn't be criticizing anyone on "facts" at the moment...

But for shits and giggles, if Putin is untrustworthy, how is Trump going to make a deal under the same conditions? Seems like you just argued yourself in a box there.

Yunno what.. Don't bother answering...

Not improving the coherency. Obama did not meet with Netanyahu in 2010 because he was on a foreign visit. Do you mean 2012? Or is this some FoxNews/delusion thing? AI hallucination and you forgot to check your work?

It's funny how you woke progressive Democrats always cheered on Odumbo and Biden when THEY were dumping on Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel....

The treatment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by Odumbo and Biden starkly contrasts with the cordial relationship that President Trump maintained with Zelensky. While PRESIDENT Trump is facing criticism for throwing Zelensky out of the Oval Office, the humiliation and disrespect directed at Netanyahu by Odumbo and Biden were far more severe and damaging.

Odumbo's public snubbing of Netanyahu during a 2010 White House meeting set a precedent for the disrespect that would continue under Biden. The Odumbo administration's refusal to engage with Netanyahu on equal footing, including a notable incident where Obama held a private dinner without the Israeli leader, exemplified a deliberate attempt to create "daylight" between the U.S. and Israel. This was not merely a matter of diplomatic disagreement; it was a systematic undermining of Netanyahu's position, which was further exacerbated by derogatory comments made by anonymous officials within the Odumbo administration.

In stark contrast, Zelensky's attempts to extort the United States for military aid during a critical time for Ukraine cannot be overlooked. While Zelensky engaged in questionable tactics, Netanyahu has never resorted to such measures. This fundamental difference highlights the integrity with which Netanyahu has approached his role as a leader, even in the face of significant challenges.

Biden's treatment of Netanyahu has been equally troubling. Reports of Biden using profanity to describe Netanyahu, calling him a "fucking liar" and a "pain in my ass," reveal a level of disrespect that is unbecoming of a U.S. president. Such language not only undermines diplomatic relations but also sends a message of disdain to allies. In contrast, PRESIDENT Trump consistently maintained a cordial demeanor towards Zelensky, despite the controversies surrounding their interactions.

The media's reaction to the spats between Trump and Zelensky has been overwhelmingly sympathetic towards Zelensky, while Netanyahu's struggles for support from European leaders and the media during the Obama and Biden administrations were met with indifference. This disparity raises questions about the fairness and consistency of international responses to leaders facing existential threats.

So, let's recap... the treatment of Netanyahu by Odumbo and Biden was not only disrespectful but also damaging to U.S.-Israel relations. The contrast with PRESIDENT Trump's approach to Zelensky underscores a troubling trend in how woke progressive Democrat presidents engage with foreign leaders, particularly those who are allies in the fight against anti-democratic regimes.

Hypocrisy. It's not a bug in Democrat programming. It's a feature.

Ya'all remember when 2025 CW, at the beginning of the Ukraine war, said that Ukraine should make peace with Russia to save lives and prevent the destruction of Ukraine??

2025 CW said that Russia would steamroll over Ukraine and the war would be over in a matter of hours and Ukraine would lose…

Then PRESIDENT Trump started saying the same thing..

Started saying that Ukraine should accept their losses and make peace..

THEN... ALL OF THE SUDDEN 2025 CW changed his stance and now says that Ukraine should fight to the bitter end..

You see the pattern?? CW and all the woke progressive Democrats’ positions are simply the diametric opposite of what PRESIDENT Trump says.. :eyeroll:

No better proof that 2025 CW and woke progressive Democrats are RULED by their Trump/America hate and their PTDS…

The positions they take on ANY given subject is simply the OPPOSITE of whatever PRESIDENT Trump’s position is. :eyeroll:

JL,

Oh, I see ... you think because I said that Russia is winning I meant that they are on their way to Kyiv?

That would be a silly interpretation of what I said. They are winning because they are gaining ground but at a snail's pace.

Russia has been winning, such as it is, for the last 19 months.

But, if Z and the Europeans can play their cards right, then this war could end soon and well, with the WH having sidelined itself.

I remain hopeful. I only wish I could be as hopeful of looking as good as Cher when I'm 78!

yes, cher is tremendous.

Russia would want a deal now because they're in a position of advantage, but with big underlying challenges as they try to press that advantage. right now Europe would love to get out of doing what they now feel like they'll have to, and there's a rapidly approaching expiration date for putin's ability to exploit that, before fear turns into mobilization.

let's say the Russian armies do make it to kyiv before the end of Donald's second term; as awful as that would be for Ukraine, it would be almost as awful for Russia. they're paying for the ground they gain, losing troops much faster than they did at the outset, and in the meantime most of the rest of Europe will be re-arming at breakneck pace, getting ready to impose a settlement more favorable to them, and with less interest in any involvement by the U.S., no matter who the next president is.

so yes, Russia IS winning, for the moment. but that moment will pass if it isn't seized upon to gain a favorable peace settlement.

Michale and Caddy,

This one is for you two! It's Cher in a live performance for the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live.

She bucks the trend in so many ways and here she does it by singing fully live without editing of any kind. She and her voice are the real deal. This fully live performance has received the seal of authenticity - AUTHENTIC VOCAL - by Fil Henley of Wings of Pegasus.

Authentic Vocal Seal of Authenticity

And, man oh man, what an outfit. It inspires me to get back on track with my workout routine. :)

Cher - If I Could Turn Back Time

Enjoy!

And, in any event, Russia is winning so why would they want a deal right now?

At the rate that “Russia is winning” they’ll finish conquering Ukraine in 83 years. Except that Russia no longer has a bottomless supply of young men for the meat waves. No country has been sanctioned as much as Russia. The inflation rate is 9%, the prime rate is 21% and Western technical knowledge critical to Russia’s energy extraction — they can’t keep their systems going without it are gone. Four million barrels of Russian crude will fall off the market this year or next and meanwhile Putin’s Bitch won the election so I think Ukraine will start sinking the Russian shadow fleet.

I’d rather not be “winning” in the way that you think Russia is winning.

That's just moronic. Everyone wants peace but a fair peace that allows Ukraine to exist.

A Mob style shakedown was the last thing anyone who wants peace needed...

Trump said he was going to make a deal. He failed. Another campaign promise down the tubes.

We will see how the opinion polls go this week. I think there is a good chance of a European deal quietly being signed by all sides with an intermediary going between Trump and Zelensky. But will Putin sign anything regardless of who makes the deal? That's the question...

Liz. You may be right about President Trump not knowing the right thing to do. I disagree but am intelligent and mature enough to concede that I may be wrong and you may be right.

But that's not really the point in the here and now.

What IS the point in the here and now is that President Trump is the *ONLY* one who has the right idea...

President Trump is the *ONLY* one who knows that this war needs to stop!! All the woke progressive Democrats can do is FEED this war... Biden et al just FEED the war.

You just HAVE to concede this fact.. President Trump is the ONLY one who has the RIGHT idea... He may not know HOW to do it... yet... But he is the ONLY one who has the right idea...

And he is getting *ZERO* help from woke progressive Democrats and *ZERO* help from Zelensky. Which is strange because Zelensky is the one who has the most to lose..

Michale,

I'm not yet convinced that Team Trump knows how to craft a sustainable deal to end this war.

And, in any event, Russia is winning so why would they want a deal right now?

What I'd like to see now, in the wake of that oval office meeting, is Europe and the rest of NATO and Z step up to the plate and formulate a real plan for peace and security that can be presented to Putin as an opening for negotiations and sideline the US altogether.

But, I know that won't happen.

In the recent Oval Office debacle, it became painfully clear that PRESIDENT Trump is the true advocate for peace, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is acting like a warmonger, driven by misguided advice from the retarded woke progressive Democrats. Instead of seizing the opportunity to sign a beneficial mineral deal that could have helped stabilize Ukraine, Zelensky chose to listen to the Democrats, who are more interested in political games than in the welfare of the Ukrainian people.

Zelensky's arrogance and refusal to accept Trump's offer demonstrate a troubling mindset. He came to the meeting with an agenda fueled by the retarded woke progressive Democrats, who have consistently pushed for a prolonged conflict rather than a resolution. By rejecting the mineral deal, Zelensky not only insulted PRESIDENT Trump but also jeopardized the military and diplomatic support that only the U.S. can provide. His actions are a betrayal of his countrymen, leaving them vulnerable to further aggression from Russia.

While PRESIDENT Trump has made it clear that he wants to end the violence and destruction, Zelensky's behavior suggests he is more interested in continuing the war. The retarded woke progressive Democrats have led him down a dangerous path, one that could lead to further devastation for Ukraine. It’s time for Zelensky to recognize that aligning with these Democrats is not the answer and that embracing Trump's vision for peace is the only way forward for his nation.

Bash,

We don't know what concessions Russia will be forced to make because Zelensky already frak'ed up the deal before we even GOT to that point..

If Zelensky was TRULY interested in peace, he would have gone along with PRESIDENT Trump with something along the lines of, "OK.. I agree to this deal in principle, but I am withholding final approval until I see what Putin is willing to concede.."

THAT would have been the SMARTEST move to make..

But Zelensky thought he was still dealing with senile and dementia-riddled Biden and could bully PRESIDENT Trump like Zelensky bullied Biden...

Zelensky thought wrong..

And now Zelensky is totally frak'ed..

His ONLY options now are to stay the course and see Russia take over Ukraine COMPLETELY or return to the Oval Office with his hat in hand and bend the knee to PRESIDENT Trump...

Zelensky totally misread the room and now Zelensky... AND Ukraine... are going to pay the price..

Did I dumb it down enough for you???

Or do you need pictures??

Liz,

Glad to hear from you! :D I have waited for you to bring semblance of sanity to these discussions. Such clarity of thought is a welcome change from all the Trump/America hate and wallowing in PTDS...

It's always not only fun and exciting but it's valuable to engage in discussions about such important topics. I appreciate your perspective on the recent events in the White House, and I’d like to offer a different viewpoint regarding PRESIDENT Trump and his intentions.

First and foremost, it's essential to recognize that PRESIDENT Trump has consistently expressed a desire to end the violence and destruction in Ukraine. His focus has been on finding a path to peace, which is a commendable goal in the face of such a devastating conflict. In contrast, it appears that President Zelensky is more interested in prolonging the war, seeking military guarantees rather than genuinely pursuing peace. This approach not only complicates the situation but also stands in the way of achieving lasting peace.

It's also a perplexing stance, given the FACT that Zelensky is getting his ass kicked all up one side of Ukraine and down the other side of Ukraine.. What could Zelensky POSSIBLY hope to gain by sacrificing more of his people and his infrastructure to his war???

Regarding the minerals deal, while there may be skepticism about Ukraine's resources, the broader context is that PRESIDENT Trump was advocating for a strategy that could provide security through economic engagement. His emphasis on working together to stabilize the region reflects a desire to create a foundation for peace rather than escalating tensions.

It doesn't matter if there are rare earth metals in Ukraine or not.. By making the deal, Zelensky could have achieved the very security arrangements that Zelensky wanted!! Why Zelensky would intentionally scroo over that arrangement is one of the biggest mysteries of this whole debacle..

It's also worth noting that the dynamics of the meeting were complex, and Zelensky's confrontational stance may have hindered the potential for constructive dialogue. Instead of collaborating towards a peaceful resolution, his actions seemed to alienate key allies who genuinely want to help.

In other words, Zelensky should have wanted to AVOID a fight.. Instead, Zelensky INSISTED on a fight.. Weird..

So, To recap, PRESIDENT Trump's intentions are rooted in a desire to stop the killing and destruction which I am sure you agree is the ONLY worthwhile goal to have..

Zelensky's approach on the other hand, will likely and ???inadvertently??? prolong the conflict. Or maybe it WASN'T "inadertently", eh??

It's crucial for all parties involved to prioritize peace and work together towards a resolution that benefits Ukraine and its people.

The ONLY goal of ANYONE with more than 2 brain cells to rub together should be to end the killing and end the destruction.. Wouldn't you agree??

Again, awesome comment.. As I said above, you seem to be the ONLY one here who can discuss this issue without any Trump/America hate or ANY PTDS...

It's a breath of fresh air... :D

Peace that requires no concessions from the invader is not peace. Trying to shake down a country for money is disgusting. That you don't understand how cheaply Russia has been defanged shows how little you know about international affairs or even warfare...

I realize that retarded woke progressive Democrat morons like you people have a short attention span and reading a long list of facts can be intimidating when there isn't any Trump/America hate or PTDS to latch onto..

So let me condense the above comment to something ya'all's very limited intellect can handle...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent behavior in the Oval Office reveals a troubling desire for military guarantees rather than a genuine pursuit of peace. Instead of seeking a resolution to the conflict, Zelensky seemed more focused on securing a commitment from PRESIDENT Trump to send troops into Ukraine, effectively preparing for the next war. His approach suggests a fundamental misunderstanding of the geopolitical landscape, particularly as he appeared to believe he was dealing with a senile and dementia-riddled Biden, ignoring the significant shift in U.S. policy that occurred with PRESIDENT Trump's election.

During the meeting, Zelensky acted like a petulant child, disregarding the diplomatic norms expected in such high-stakes discussions. He openly criticized PRESIDENT Trump and Vice President Vance, insisting that Ukraine was the aggrieved party and showing no interest in a ceasefire. This behavior not only alienated his most crucial ally but also demonstrated a lack of respect for the United States.

It is absurd to think that opposing Ukraine equates to supporting Russia; only a retardedd fool would believe such a notion. The reality is that PRESIDENT Trump emphasized the need for peace, not conflict, and Zelensky's failure to recognize this could have dire consequences for Ukraine. If he continues down this path, he risks losing vital support and further endangering his country.

Did I dumb it down enough for ya'all?? :eyeroll:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent diplomatic blunder highlights a critical misunderstanding of the shifting political landscape in the United States, particularly regarding his relationship with PRESIDENT Trump. Instead of genuinely seeking peace, Zelensky appeared more focused on securing a military commitment from PRESIDENT Trump, essentially preparing for the next conflict rather than working towards resolution. This miscalculation not only jeopardized Ukraine's standing but also showcased a fundamental disconnect with the realities of U.S. foreign policy.

For years, Zelensky was celebrated in the U.S. as a heroic figure, receiving accolades and support from various political and media circles. However, during a pivotal meeting in the Oval Office, he publicly questioned whether PRESIDENT Trump and Vice President Vance truly understood the complexities of the war in Ukraine and the threat posed by Russia. This confrontation was not only ill-timed but also demonstrated a lack of respect for his most significant ally. Instead of fostering cooperation, Zelensky's approach alienated PRESIDENT Trump and his administration.

Zelensky's perception of PRESIDENT Biden as a senile leader led him to ignore the substantial shift in U.S. policy that occurred with PRESIDENT Trump's election. The new administration had a different approach to foreign relations, one that emphasized negotiation and mutual concessions rather than unilateral military support. Zelensky's insistence on a security guarantee from the U.S. was misguided, as PRESIDENT Trump had already made it clear that he was not inclined to provide such assurances. Instead, PRESIDENT Trump proposed a minerals deal that would allow for U.S. presence in Ukraine, which he argued would offer a form of security without the need for troop deployment.

The meeting quickly devolved into a contentious exchange, with Zelensky's defiance and interruptions leading to a breakdown in communication. PRESIDENT Trump, frustrated by Zelensky's attitude, warned him that he was "gambling with World War III" and that he was in no position to dictate terms to the United States. This moment marked a significant turning point, as the White House rescinded its invitation for a deal signing, leaving Zelensky without the support he desperately sought.

Observers noted that Zelensky's failure to adjust his diplomatic approach could cost him dearly. He seemed to be living in a "pro-Ukrainian American bubble," disconnected from the realities of U.S. politics and the polarized nature of the Ukraine issue. Scholars pointed out that PRESIDENT Trump thrives on flattery and control, and any public challenge to his authority is perceived as a personal affront. Zelensky's missteps not only jeopardized his relationship with PRESIDENT Trump but also risked diminishing Ukraine's leverage in negotiations.

In the aftermath, Zelensky attempted to salvage his image by expressing gratitude to the U.S. and other world leaders, but he still refused to offer an apology to PRESIDENT Trump. This reluctance to acknowledge his errors may further strain their relationship. As Zelensky navigates this complex political landscape, he must recognize that his approach needs to evolve if he hopes to secure the support Ukraine needs in its ongoing conflict with Russia. The stakes are high, and the future of Ukraine may depend on his ability to adapt and engage constructively with the current U.S. administration.

Part 3: A list of "talking points" for the coming week. To my mind, this list should be exclusively 'short and snappy, meme-worthy' - and in the past, CW has had some good ones.

Once again...

How many people must notice the FACT that there is a HUGE difference between 2010 Weigantia and 2025 Weigantia before the Weigantian Peanut Gallery acknowledges the facts and the objective reality, eh??

:eyeroll:

2025 Weigantia exists for one reason and one reason only..

To further the Trump/America hate agenda...

To spread the disease that is PRESIDENT Trump Derangement Syndrome (PTDS)...

The facts are clear.. To anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together...

yeah, I don't even know how to respond. it is a sad day in world history. a day that will live in infamy, so to speak. Donald has a lot of 'splainin' to do.

So..

You prefer the war to continue??

You prefer more killing and more death and destruction??

Welcome to the woke progressive Democrat Party 2025..

Nothing else matters but the Trump/America hate and the PTDS... :eyeroll:

All of these facts should have become painfully obvious to even the most retarded woke progressive Democrat when their Party prostrated themselves before and bent the knee to and kissed the ring of Dick 'Darth Vader' Cheney himself..

Trump/America Hate Uber Alles...

PTDS to the max...

:eyeroll:

Hey, everyone! Did the Friday drama in the WH remind anyone here of anything? :-)

That's right. It was as if the CW.com comments section came alive, right before our eyes. What a train wreck. And, an exercise in getting lost in translation, to boot.

Who's to blame? Yes, now there's a game many of us here love to play. Ahem.

Well, how about, ah, JD? All he was trying to do was find some semblance of relevance for himself as the new number three. Heh. Did he have his interjection pre-planned? He probably didn't come up with the idea just sitting there on the oval office couch.

And, what about Zelenskyy? Clearly, he didn't get the proverbial memo and came to the WH quite unprepared. If he wished to avoid being kicked unceremoniously out of the meeting, then he would have refrained from getting into the fray with the bull-in-china-shop experts in the Trump administration. And, for the record and to ensure that nothing gets lost in translation, I don't mean that he should have prostrated himself in front of Team Trump like other international leaders have done.

As for Trump, I'm left wondering if he doesn't understand that the so-called 'minerals' deal he ostensibly wanted to sign with Z is wholly without substance.

"The U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) most recent Mineral Commodity Summaries does not list Ukraine as having any rare earths reserves. The country also has zero existing rare earths mines, processing facilities or known reserves."

Of course, the maps being used throughout the media tell a different story. That's because they come from the notorious Institute For the Study of War, run by the same neocons who cheer-leaded the 2003 Iraq War. Quelle surprise!

Ukraine Minerals Deal - High Risk, Low Reward

I agree with you on the value of the shorter points--I suppose my ideal would be memorable headlines followed by something that you could quote or adapt for a letter or conversation. But Chris does what he does, and I certainly couldn't come up with what I think we both would like.

I, too, found the FTP weekly column via Huffington Post, back before it had a click-bait makeover by its Buzzfeed owners.

I continue to appreciate the format:
Part 1: an essay noting the past week's events - more than once I learned about important news that one of my reliable sources has omitted

Part 2: MIDOW and MDDOW - food for thought and also a reinforcement of what "Democrat" should represent

Part 3: A list of "talking points" for the coming week. To my mind, this list should be exclusively 'short and snappy, meme-worthy' - and in the past, CW has had some good ones.

I assume at least some people who read the weekly column never return to the 'comments' section. So depending on someone else to clean up the 'talking points' misses at least some of the intended audience.

Let me ask you all a question can you eat even consider the possibility that you people are wrong and the vast majority of Americans and Tech Geniuses and all the other people that are supporting president Trump are right.

When you say "vast majority" you are talking 1.6% more votes than Kamala from 64% of eligible voters. 1/3 of America is not the vast majority of anything. As for your "tech geniuses" If you are talking about Melakon and Thiel, they are paypal mafia and the scum of silicon valley. Why would I respect them? Bezos? The James Bond villain lookalike with his Fiancée that looks to have freaky amounts of plastic surgery. I still wonder where his secret volcano base is hidden. Ellison is the creepiest with his AI powered cameras everywhere watching everyone in a 1984 fueled nightmare. Just like Trump, just because they made money does not make them good people. So far Trump has done nothing good. Shat on the constitution, thwarted democracy both home and abroad, treated long allies like he treats his diaper. The list goers on and on. Can you accept you made a horrible mistake or are you a "fanatic. Ideolog... cult member... Retard..."

Not worthy of ANY consideration of ANY intelligence whatsoever... Not even in the same GALAXY of objective reality...

And yet here you are thoroughly addicted to dealing with us. Interesting that...

In fact, I've posited that very question more than once in the comments section. No one has bothered to address it, least of CW. I agree that most of us who comment are preaching to the choir. Unfortunately, that seems to have been Kamala's and the Democrats' playbook in 2024, with the expected results.

Shit! I accidentally read a cho’mo post and we’re only 24 hours into March!

Cho’mo is a deluded fascist who is dying to felch Putin’s sperm out of Trump’s ass. Like all Repugs he knows that the only chance they have to win is to Gerrymander and suppress the vote. Soon enough cho’mo will disappear from Weigantia like he always does when the going gets tough. Looking forward to President Musk cutting funding for his job as PAIN is the only cure for MAGA.

Yikes you’re right! So many Rules of Acquisition are being violated by Trump that I tell y’all:

Everything that Trump does is at Daddy Vladdy’s direction. Destroying our New Deal, messing with our allies and cozying up to Russia — how is Trump NOT #PutinsBitch?

House Republicans are becoming weary and wary of in-person town hall meetings after a number of lawmakers have faced hometown crowds angry about the Trump administration’s push to slash government programs and staffing.

Party leaders suggest that if lawmakers feel the need to hold such events, they do tele-town halls or at least vet attendees to avoid scenes that become viral clips, according to GOP sources.

A GOP aide said House Republican leaders are urging lawmakers to stop engaging in them altogether.

Not a show of strength by Republicans. Democrats should go in to these areas and give these people a megaphone. Let them air their grievances.

But to your analogy, that you think Trump and Vance would fit in anywhere in the federation says you really don't get Star Trek at all...

I think Vance would make a good Vorta. He has that annoying yes man thing going for him.

For Trump you really have to jump to star Wars where he would make a great Hut. He's failed too many businesses to be a Ferengi even if the skin tones are close...

Do ya'all remember the year before the election ya'all went apeshit hysterical trying to deny the fact that Biden was senile and dementia-riddled???

Apparently, ya'all weren't the only ones who were hysterical about covering up the FACTS to keep the American people from finding out.

The situation surrounding Biden's cognitive abilities had became crystal clear for all Americans who witnessed first hand Biden's senility and dementia. The recent comments from Michael LaRosa, a former press secretary for Jill Biden, reveal a troubling FACT: the Biden campaign had been constantly gaslighting the public about these very concerns. LaRosa admitted that the administration was aware of the issues from “day one,” yet they chose to downplay them and lie about them writing them off as "cheap fakes and insisting that everything was fine Insisting that Biden was "sharp as a tack". This dishonesty was not just a political tactic; it is a blatant attempt to mislead the American people.

During the disastrous presidential debate with Donald Trump, Biden frequently lost his train of thought and stumbled over his words, leading Trump to remark, “I don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence, and I don’t think he does either.” This moment was not just a slip; it was a glaring indication of Biden's cognitive decline. Yet, despite this clear evidence, the Biden administration and its allies refused to acknowledge the reality of the situation. Instead, they engaged in a campaign of denial, attempting to convince the public that concerns about Biden's age and mental fitness were unfounded.

LaRosa's comments further highlight the administration's dishonesty. While he claims that the term “cover-up” is too harsh, he simultaneously admits that they tried to cover up Biden's cognitive issues. This contradiction is VERY telling. If they were aware of the concerns and chose to downplay them and lie about them then how could they deny that they were engaged in a cover-up? The fact is that the Biden administration had been dishonest with the American people, and this gaslighting was unacceptable.

Moreover, LaRosa's admission that the campaign was “scared to death” of letting Biden do unscripted interviews speaks volumes about their lack of confidence in his abilities. They knew that impromptu moments could expose Biden's cognitive decline, so they kept him under wraps, avoiding any situation that could lead to further embarrassment. This is not the behavior of a confident administration; it is the behavior of a team that knows their candidate is not fit for the job.

As Biden's approval ratings continued to plummet, it became clearer and clearer that the American people were not buying the gaslighting. The Biden camp's attempts to downplay concerns about Biden's age and cognitive abilities fell completely flat in the aftermath of Biden's disastrous debate. The reality was that Biden's senility and dementia was completely plain for all to see and the dishonesty of his campaing in trying to cover it up is a disservice to the American public.

It's amazing to me that ya'all believe ya'all have ANY credibility whatsoever after saying for YEARS that Biden was "sharp as a tack" and could handle the job of POTUS... :eyeroll:

Basically Zelensky wanted PRESIDENT Trump to promise American troops on the ground in Ukraine if Russia ever attacked again...

PRESIDENT Trump told Zelensky to fuck off and die...

Zelensky didn't come to the White House to get peace..

Zekensky came to the White House to prepare for the next war...

And the funny thing is, Zelensky is a retarded moron..

If Zekensky had just signed the peace treaty/rare earth minerals deal, then THAT would have committed US support for Ukraine because the US would support Ukraine because it was in the US's best interest to support Ukraine..

Zelensky outsmarted himself and left with NOTHING but being hung out to dry.. Now the US has no vested interest in pulling Zelensky's ass out of the fire..

It's going to be a rare pleasure to see Zelensky return to PRESIDENT Trump, hat in hand begging for PRESIDENT Trump to make a deal..

Zelenskyy has recently demonstrated a troubling pattern of behavior that raises serious questions about his intentions and respect for the United States. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent highlighted that Zelenskyy had twice refused to sign a minerals deal with the U.S., which would have exchanged billions in aid for vital resources. This refusal is not just a diplomatic blunder; it reflects a deeper issue of Zelenskyy's approach to his relationship with the U.S. and, more importantly, with PRESIDENT Trump. It appears that Zelenskyy was attempting to embarrass and extort PRESIDENT Trump into providing guarantees that U.S. troops would be sent to Ukraine in the event of another Russian invasion. This is a significant point that cannot be overlooked. Zelenskyy's actions suggest he was trying to leverage the U.S. military presence for his own political gain, which is both disrespectful and dangerous.

During a tense meeting, PRESIDENT Trump and Vice President JD Vance confronted Zelenskyy about his lack of gratitude for the support the U.S. has provided over the years. In fact, it was only after it was pointed out that Zelenskyy had never thanked America that he finally expressed his gratitude. This lack of appreciation is alarming, especially considering the substantial aid the U.S. has provided to Ukraine. It raises the question: how can Zelenskyy expect unwavering support from the U.S. while simultaneously failing to acknowledge the sacrifices made by American taxpayers? PRESIDENT Trump, in his role as a leader, is right to demand respect and gratitude from foreign leaders, especially when American lives and resources are at stake.

Moreover, it is crucial to clarify a common misconception: just because someone does not support Zelenskyy and Ukraine does not mean they support Putin and Russia. This binary thinking is not only simplistic and retarded but also dangerous. Many Americans are concerned about the implications of sending U.S. troops into a foreign conflict, especially one as complex and bloody as the war in Ukraine. PRESIDENT Trump has consistently emphasized the need for peace, not prolonged conflict. He has made it clear that he does not want to embroil the U.S. in a ten-year war. Instead, he seeks a resolution that prioritizes American interests and the safety of American lives.

In the recent exchange between PRESIDENT Trump and Zelenskyy, it became evident that Zelenskyy was not ready for peace. PRESIDENT Trump stated, “I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for peace if America is involved.” This statement underscores the reality that Zelenskyy may be more interested in leveraging U.S. support for his own political agenda rather than genuinely seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict. PRESIDENT Trump’s insistence on peace over conflict is a testament to his commitment to protecting American interests.

The meeting culminated in a canceled press conference and a clear message from PRESIDENT Trump: he will not be extorted or manipulated into committing U.S. troops to a foreign war. Zelenskyy’s attempts to play the U.S. against Russia are not only disrespectful but also indicative of a leader who may not have the best interests of his country at heart. PRESIDENT Trump’s approach is one of caution and pragmatism, recognizing that the stakes are high and that American lives should not be gambled in a foreign conflict.

So... To recap... PRESIDENT Trump is the good guy in this scenario, standing firm against attempts by Zelenskyy to extort military guarantees while also advocating for peace. The narrative that opposing Zelenskyy equates to supporting Putin is misleading and harmful. Americans deserve a leader who prioritizes their safety and well-being, and PRESIDENT Trump has shown that he is willing to take a stand for what is right, even in the face of international pressure. It is time to recognize the complexities of this situation and support a leader who is genuinely looking out for America and Americans.

So say we all....

I have been saying for YEARS now how much CW and Weigantia have changed..

I have been saying for YEARS now how Trump/America Hate and PTDS have completely degraded the quality of the commentaries and the comments..

And, apparently.....

This week's TPs were not punchy enough. And I will NEVER advocate including any Republican "turncoat" in a TP (Steve Bannon?!?!)
-Italy Rusty

I completely agree. I’m going on six years hanging out down here and I’m still trying to figure out what FTPs are designed to accomplish. So how and where, exactly, are these FTPs to be used?
-MtnCaddy

I've been reading these since Huffpo days, and they have always come across to me as something for a letter to the editor, or to bring up in a discussion, not a for a slogan or tweet or FB meme or anything that demands short and snappy above all else. Short and snappy is a particular skill--a valuable one in most social media now--but is often pretty shallow. Being able to summarise well (the short bit) doesn't always go with the meme/slogan/snappy bit.
-Mezzomama

I am not the ONLY one who has noticed this...

Oh sure... The Weigantian Trolls LOVE 2025 Weigantia. Victoria, Russ et al LOVE the hate and the bigotry and the intolerance because that is all that they are about...

I am sure Victoria Troll will come waltzing in here and lay into IR and MM and telling them to get with the hate/bigotry/intolerance program or go start their own blog!!

Nothing says "tolerance" and "inclusiveness" like "TOE THE HATE/BIGOTRY LINE OR GET THE FUCK OUT!!!"....

:eyeroll:

Weigantia has become a school playground for 3rd graders who have just learned a bunch of new curse words...

And, as I pointed out above, I am not the only one who has noticed it...

You people are such caricatures of hate and bigotry and intolerance it's so pathetic!!

I can predict EACH and EVERY comment ya'all will make with pinpoint accuracy...

ANY comment ya'all make will be variations on a theme...

"TRUMP IS BAD"

"TRUMP IS EVIL"

"TRUMP IS HITLER"

That's it..

That is ya'all's ENTIRE comment repertoire.. :eyeroll:

Liz is the only one left here who actually has REAL comments anymore...

All of the rest of ya'all are simply caricatures of one trick pony comments.. :eyeroll:

I would like to see some short and snappy, meme-worthy summaries of Chris's points. I can generally summarise pretty well, but as I say.... So who can turn Chris's points into memes/slogans that the rest of us can use in social media?

I completely agree. I’m going on six years hanging out down here and I’m still trying to figure out what FTPs are designed to accomplish. There’s no way a MAGAt is going to listen to a long paragraph in conversation. And we non-MAGAts largely speaking “the choir” and who largely speaking already know what’s in that long paragraph. So how and where, exactly, are these FTPs to be used?

I prefer, for example, Racism** puts the “R” in “Republican”.

**or Rich Bastards/Rifle Freaks/Religious Freaks/Reactionaries
