They could talk about how Republicans keep clinging to the fantasy that giving expensive tax breaks to the millionaire and billionaire class (who don't need it and largely haven't asked for it) do not trickle down to benefit the rest of the country economically.

They could talk about the Republican fantasy that these tax cuts for the very rich can be paid for by cutting government spending.

They could talk about how reducing government regulations that protect people - financially and otherwise - benefits no one but the very rich.

They could talk about the Democratic versus Republican record on job creation and other economic indicators.

And, Dems don't have to get into the weeds on any of this - just talk about it in ways that just make a lot of sense. And repeat it until it sinks in.

The last person I heard anyone in public service talk about economic policy like this was when Tim Geithner would speak about these issues as treasury secretary in the Obama administration. And, even then, he was the only one who made the case for Democrats using effective arguments. Unfortunately, for reasons that would take up a whole other blog post, he was the wrong messenger.

But that changed. President Trump is now back on top in the betting markets..
