Joshua,

if michael jackson played with the pitch electronically, it was certainly by choice, since he was too damn talented to ever actually need it.

Unfortunately, that really has nothing to do with it.

I mean, they even pitch corrected Freddie Mercury's voice! Arguably the best voice of the seventies!

As I understand it, record labels and producers and the like have been trying for twenty years to make pitch correction the industry standard. And, they have pretty much succeeded. The refrain you most often hear nowadays when discussing the use of pitch correction and auto-tune is that "everybody uses it!"

What's infinitely depressing to me is knowing that before too long there won't be any real music to be found anywhere, including at live performances which can now be auto-tuned or, mimed to pre-recorded AND pitch corrected vocals! And, we haven't even mentioned how AI will impact everything.

What most people don't understand about all of this, I think, is that pitch correction and auto-tuning don't just add an effect to a natural voice - rather the use of these technologies changes a natural voice into some whole other set of sounds that doesn't actually exist.

Whether an artist NEEDS to use this technology or whether it even makes their voice sound "better" doesn't seem to matter.

The pervasive use of pitch correction and auto-tune only serve the music industry money game by making everyone sound the same ... more artists producing more product and selling more units. The only problem is that these practices are sucking the life out of modern recordings (and of re-releases of our old favourites!) creating voices that are un-natural, hit perfect pitch according to A 440Hz tuning and, most importantly, devoid of any artistic expression or emotional storytelling.

Fil has another great analysis video comparing Billy Joel's amazing live performance at the Grammys this year of his new song, Turn the Lights Back On with the official studio release of the song. What Fil found will blow your mind! Well, it blew mine. :)

mike really is living rent free in your head. perhaps an eviction notice is in order?

The douchebag formally known as Michale is not to be seen in Weigantia since Trump got slammed in 2020...

necessary?

Yeah, it was. The so-called man who doesn’t pay his losing wagers is not a man but rather a douchebag, and I’m still pissed. After November’s Blue Tsunami he won’t show his face until 2026. Or not even then if this Einstein catches Covid one time too many.

Sadly, I can imagine that there will come a time, in the not so distant future, when there will be no real music, replete with artistic expression and emotional storytelling, to enjoy anywhere.

Nothing depresses me more than this sad realization.

... and, good song!

Speaking of good songs ... been listening to some versions of the Eagles' Desperado and analysis by Fil Henley from Wings of Pegasus. He was sent some live performance videos of them doing this song and the sender wanted Fil to take a deep dive into them because all three live performances from different years sounded like EXACTLY the same vocal.

It was pretty amazing what Fil discovered in this video just released this evening ...

This is HUGE ... and changes EVERYRHING!

It would only be projection if I was the type of poster who would claim repeatedly and verifiably on a regular basis on this archived forum that other commenters simply aren't capable of understanding my posts. That's actually your repetitive modus operandi on this forum and no one else's.

Here is an example of projection:

... they are so attached to their own sense of reality that they are unable to see what is actually going on.

~ Elizabeth Miller

That's an example of projection.

You're welcome. :)

What's actually most amusing is your oft-repeated ridiculous assertion that other posters who disagree with your views are having a problem understanding them. In point of fact, there isn't a single post of yours on this entire forum that is even remotely the least bit complicated... and actually quite the opposite.

I've seen no one who responded in "overly emotional" fashion... with the obvious exception of yourself seeming irretrievably butthurt and unable to stop yourself from the repetitive whining, whimpering obsecration and lather... rinse... repeat. :)

Of course, I don't expect some commenters to get it. Heh.

I know, right! Some people never "get it." For instance, there is a commenter on this board who claims repeatedly to value muscular political debate, but alas the commentaries are archived and undeniable proof that the policing of other posters' language is what is important to that one.

Is it any wonder why Trump is so popular? He is a reflection of the people.

Trump obviously is not a reflection of any of the posters on this forum at present so you're obviously in the wrong place to spew your pathetic attempt at an insult toward the people here. Only a douchebag would vote for Trump.

What's most amusing, in my own experience here, is that the childish name-calling is often done in the name of misguided and wrong-headed assumptions on the parts of the name-callers, usually in the case where these commenters become overly emotional to the point where they can't understand the written word, apparently, or they are so attached to their own sense of reality that they are unable to see what is actually going on.

This is clearly evident throughout the comments sections of this blog whenever the subject of the wars in Ukraine or Gaza is broached ...

Let's grow up and have some real conversations!

Was that necessary?

Another very good definition of "juvenile" would be the incessant whining windbaggery that name-calling is occurring in a political commentary.

Whenever you get a glimpse of such "affront to humanity" occurring and begin to feel disoriented, you should gather yourself together and utilize your smelling salts... if your hands are not otherwise preoccupied clutching your pearls. :)

It is comments like that that mean Chris's blog will never attract the kind of people who aren't hypersensitive and love to talk politics without the juvenile name-calling that has become a hallmark of the CW.com comments sections.

By the way, the polls today are not looking good for the Biden re-election campaign.

Dem supporters are saying that a lot can change and the polls can shift between now and election day.

That is for sure - they could get a lot worse!

Want a “sign that it’ll all work out in November”?

Easy! The douchebag formally known as Michale is not to be seen in Weigantia since Trump got slammed in 2020.

Caddy,

I actually think that president Clinton could have helped push Gore over the top. That was a different time ...

I can think of, oh, twenty-six million reasonsto have two two-term former Presidents help Joe out.

Also, Al Gore eschewed Slick Willy’s help, being all worried about Monicagate.

We sincerely hope to see both Obama and Clinton at some future rallies for Biden, since they were somewhat of a forgotten Democratic resource the last time around.

I'm not sure about how effective, in terms of helping the Biden re-election campaign, president Obama would actually be but, I suppose his presence wouldn't hurt, much.

However, in the case of president Clinton, unfortunately his efforts last time around could not be forgotten enough. Oh, I suppose it could be worse. Team Biden could recruit Hillary to, ah, help the campaign ... lose. ;)

I applaud Chris' choices for MIDOW this week.

It's critical that Democrats never lose sight of the fact that in the U.S., there's no such thing as a 'national election'. What happens in each state - even the 'red' ones - affects the composition of the U.S. Congress and who occupies the White House.

Mayor Brandon Scott was instantly accused by rightwing racists of somehow being a "D.E.I. hire."

This goes a long way to proving just how absolutely brainless those particular rightwing racists actually are because the City of Baltimore has a makeup that is a majority of Black citizens -- approximately 62% -- so a "D.E.I. hire" there would obviously be one of those pathetic dull-witted racist righty rubes.

He's out there hawking $60 Bibles to his army of rubes, because he never passes up a chance to make a quick buck off his own name. Add this to the $400 tacky gold sneakers he recently unveiled. What will be next?

Now that Donald's Big Lie helped bankrupt the "MyPillow" moron, Trump should sell those lousy pillows so all the other rubes who got suckered by him will have something to cry into when they finally come to grips with the fact their "icon" is a grifting con.

The MyPillow CEO has claimed that his company lost $100 million after retailers dropped his products. Meanwhile, Lindell is also facing major lawsuits that could bankrupt his company.

Thanks to his allegations of election fraud, Lindell is the subject of a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems and a separate defamation lawsuit filed by another voting machine company, Smartmatic. He also owes Fox News nearly $8 million in unpaid advertising bills.
