John,

Biden's best time to run for president was in 2004, since he was the only one on the planet who was working on a serious plan of action for US policy in Iraq (in 2007, that plan received about 75 votes in favour in the US Senate!!!). A policy which, by then, was in shambles, thanks to Bush Jr and company.

But, Biden said he was too busy working on trying to right the ship called US Policy in Iraq to spend time running for president. Besides, his buddy John Kerry would be the nominee and, if elected, would tap Biden for his real favourite job - Secretary of State. Of course, as Biden told anyone who'd listen, he'd rather be chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, assuming Dems would have control there. Otherwise, SoS would be fine by him! :)

Next best time happened in 2008, while the situation in Iraq remained a disaster after another four years of Bush and company. But, he got less than one percent of the primary vote in Iowa. And ... I know, I know ... Barack Obama.

But, all's well that ends well - if not for Biden, who knows where we'd ALL be after eight years of Trump. And, I mean that most sincerely. I'm not trying to be facetious here.

I liked these words of political wisdom about Biden's rumored interest in running for president in the fall of 2015:

"Due to his age, this is probably the last chance he'll ever have."
