By the way, I have an idea to reignite our little Sunday Night Shindigs ...

... lately, I've been playing a couple or three albums to death - note for note, cut for cut, in the style of Classic Albums Live!

So, I thought it would be fun to post our favourite albums (bonus points if you can post the full album youtube playlist!), the ones we always love to play from beginning to end and enjoy the complete album experience.

Here is an open invitation to all music lovers at CW.com to come out this Sunday evening and showcase your favourite albums - new, classic, and everything in between.

Joshua,

I just didn't have time to read the column and I didn't really want to spend any time at all reading about Rudy, even if it was about a dream to lock him up. Heh.

CW

Great blog post regarding Rudy being a target in the Georgia investigation into fake electors.

As to speculation regarding a pardon for anyone convicted in Georgia being dependent on the governor, if I recall correctly, Georgia is one of the states wherein the power to pardon does not belong to the governor but to an independent board of pardons (but appointed by governor) *be right back*

https://pap.georgia.gov/

Unless the Georgia constitution has changed recently, the pardon power in Georgia belongs to them. :)

@liz,

whether alcohol makes sex better or worse is, in my opinion, entirely dependent on the quality of the beverage, the quantity relative to the individual's tolerance, and the skill and timing with which it's employed.

and the whole reason we're discussing this (i.e. on-topic) is that CW wrote regarding beto o'rourke, who responded to a heckler who laughed out loud when he was speechifying about people using military-style weapons to kill schoolchildren.

my question was, when beto said "It may be funny to you, motherfucker, but it's not funny to me!" which metaphorical meaning of the word did he mean?

It's actually not that great with much alcohol.

Heh. I won't "say" what I'm thinking. My comment had nothing whatsoever to do with anyone drinking and copulating. I'm not going to attempt to explain this to you except the following: Humans used to be trained to do what computers do now.

And, I'm about one hundred percent sure gt doesn't need it for that, either.

You're missing the point of the comment.

Besides, there weren't many details disclosed.

Well, you couldn't be more wrong about that. :)

It's only pejorative if it referes to one fucking their own Mother. I've long preferred "Fuck yo Momma and tell yo Daddy he's next@"

Other than that we're in MILF-universe the best place to be.

Interesting semantic question, does the insult mf'er refer to any mother, a specific class of mother, or only to one's own mother?

I believe it is meant as an accusation that a person suffers from an extreme oedipus complex. It's not really an insult if it refers to anybody's mom. Any male parent of a child can be called it without insult being the intent. It's a statement of fact.

So who would Trump have sold any of our secrets to??? The Saudis gave Jared $2.5 BILLION as an "investment" into his private equity firm. The newly formed private equity firm. What does Jared have lined up that could come close to deserving such a large investment by the Saudis?

Given his history of business failures, this would seem like a HUGE risk for the Saudis. Of course if they were purchasing something instead of investing, then it makes a lot more sense. Plus, it would be way too obvious if they made the check out to Donald. Because no one would ever think that Jared was in on any illegal activities.

What makes you think alcohol must be involved?

The Devil's in the details.

I mean you don't need alcohol to have fun, you know ...

No, I personally do not (lucky guess on your part), but I won't pretend to know GT's requirements. :)

I, for one, would be THRILLED to hear that this is the case!

Me too. Please let it be a civil servant who ratted out the former POTUS/criminal con in keeping their sworn oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and "bear true faith and allegiance to the same."

I have wondered how the Secret Service was going to be able to work with this criminal when he was president; but now that he is out of office, would they sit back and just allow him to commit crimes in their presence?

You know Donald Trump didn't pack up approximately 20 boxes of stolen/classified documents all by his lonesome so whomever was involved in doing this has got some 'splainin' to do. :)

The talking heads on TV keep asking: Couldn't it be that the DOJ just wants the documents back and that's all this is about?

Their experts say: Yes, that's possible . . .

How could that be true? How will they even know if they've got them back? Did they search his phone? How many copies could he have already distributed in 18 months? Have they asked Putin to return his copies?

goode trickle

This is what happens when @airfrance loses my luggage and I have to return CONUS to resupply.

Heh.

Can I admit that as currently single dirty middle aged man I like fucking?

You just did.

Most of the dating "field" at my age have had offspring, hence, Mothers.

I think I see where this is going.

Since when did Motherfucker become such a pejorative? I enjoy it. It is fun and no one get hurt.

How many of the little bottles of alcohol have you had?

I dunno if elevating Beto's use is worthy of an HM.

(A) Beto has trolls for Greg Abbott who follow him around heckling him at every campaign stop.

(B) Rather than kick the trolls out and encourage his supporters to "knock the crap out of them" in Trumpian fashion, Beto allows them to attend his campaign rallies.

(C) Beto tends to drop F-bombs when he's fired up.

A + B = C

The whole thing feels staged and over produced.

It isn't an act; it's just Beto. He also speaks fluent Spanish just as well as he speaks English. You ought to hear him when he's fired up in Spanish, hijoputa.

Kick,

I'll just leave it right here that I've heard from a source of mine that the confidential informant is a member of the Secret Service.

I, for one, would be THRILLED to hear that this is the case! I have wondered how the Secret Service was going to be able to work with this criminal when he was president; but now that he is out of office, would they sit back and just allow him to commit crimes in their presence?

These folks are law enforcement, but their main function is to protect the life of the President and his family -- first and foremost! Does that mean that they would test Donald Jr's cocaine to make sure it didn't have fentanyl in it? It would be great for the public to know if it was SS folks who reported this. It could go a long way in restoring the agency's reputation after the destroyed text messages.

GT,

However, I have no issues with certain very common sense restrictions on how you get to own said weapon of choice, like proving you are capable of owning said weapon and know how to utilize it in the appropriate fashion ( think AR15, AK47, bottles of propane and thermite on a range), not being a felon, not being on SSI / the government dole... are kind of on the top of my list, if you want a gun great, have at it, just don't squander my tax payer dollars (which the GOP intentionally blocked) and prove in person with real ramifications that you are going to be responsible.

What about having proper ways to store the weapon safely? This is a huge problem, especially with hand guns, that is responsible for their use in suicides.

I still think the best way to discourage gun purchases is to require gun makes to make all "assault rifles" to come in one color: HOT PINK! Every square inch of the gun must be pink in color. We have required toy gun makers to make their toys this color so that police would not confuse the toy for real guns, but flipping this would work even better.

This attacks the "macho" factor of the gun -- that guns are meant to make the user feel tougher and more "macho" just by handling it. Toy makers found that sells of their toy models dropped massively once they were cast in pink plastic. They still looked like the real guns that they were modeled from, but because of their color, little kids didn't want them anymore.

You would think that criminals would have picked up on the fact that if they painted their handguns pink, the police might overlook them as being toys; but I have never heard of any confiscated guns being found painted pink. Again, the "macho" factor in play.

Requiring the gun makers to make their guns pink does not interfere or place any restrictions on the Second Amendment at all. It does not affect the purpose or function of the firearm in any way. It would make them more visible when carried in public.

Of course, there will be huge fines and mandatory prison time for anyone caught altering the color of the firearm, but that was a given. The gun lobby will oppose this as they openly sell firearms as penis-replacements and penile-enhancers as their ads prove. But I think this is the way to cut down the number of people wanting to use AR15's in mass shootings... because they know they will be laughed at for using a pink gun.

The wingnuts cry a big game with the anonymity of being online or drinking beer with their peeps but when it comes down to real civil war, they like the idea and would love to be there but you know gotta be at work in the morning. Those big trucks and AR-15 variants don't pay for themselves...

I think it will be mostly lone wolves who have lost it due to the venomous rhetoric like the nut who tried to attack regional F.B.I. office.

This is what happens when @airfrance loses my luggage and I have to return CONUS to resupply.

Can I admit that as currently single dirty middle aged man I like fucking?

Most of the dating "field" at my age have had offspring, hence, Mothers.

Since when did Motherfucker become such a pejorative? I enjoy it. It is fun and no one get hurt.

I dunno if elevating Beto's use is worthy of an HM. The whole thing feels staged and over produced. Onboard with sentiment, not onboard with execution.

I consider myself to be a center left leaning libertarian.

When it comes to guns, I believe any person should be allowed to own the gun they want. Restricting and removing that choice is to me a violation of that right.

I think helmet laws are backwards, they should have all been structured to have been written to have the effect of "If you want to ride without protection, fine you can do that, however, if you get into an accident and you do not have your own insurance and you are not wearing a helmet, you are on your own. I don't want my tax dollars going to keep stupid alive.

I can go on and on, but as I look at the case of gun ownership unfettered I see that the liberty as it is harms more people than it should, so reasonable restrictions should be created. Helmet laws that also provide for treatment of the uninsured are also harmful as we the taxpayer have to support the care of an individual who made a choice to ride without protection.

One now might ask what I am getting at? Gun ownership and riding without a helmet are choices, getting pregnant or the ability to see a pregnancy to term is not always a choice. If one considers the 9th amendment I fail to see how removing any avenue for any person to receive a legal and medically conducted abortion is not a reduction in liberties... no matter how you put it. When one takes taxpayer dollars and choice out of the equation, I ask how is this removal of liberty solving a "problem".

Personally, I would like to see the argument reframed in terms of "how is my right to access to an abortion harming any of the "pro-life" supporters liberties, and start breaking out 9th amendment arguments, given the "adjustments" in how slaves were viewed, women's right to vote (I hate suffrage as it encompassed some moral and religious POV's), marriage equality, equal pay, etc, etc.

Don't you think the 9th amendment comes into play with the argument that the court has already recognized so many cases that are considered "liberties" that perhaps abortion falls into that category? The court needs to explain how allowing the states to remove a persons agency over their own body, especially when it causes no harm to any of the parties forcing their legal POV onto the rest of us, is a popular and sound "legal" decision in context of the current "originalist" view.

I am going to assume someone is off pouting.

IRT the whole documents thing, it will not matter to the minority that goes trump.

Kash Patel has already laid the groundwork for trump and his merry bag of dicks to claim " by my royal vocal decree I declare thee unclassified", all the while ignoring the actual requirements for document declassification. Yes the president can declassify anything his heart desires... but it still must go through a process and after said process it would no longer be marked, CLASSIFIED, SECRET, TOP SECRET, TOP SECRET/SCI. It simply would have UNCLASSIFIED, UCLASS or FOUO on it.... and if it was really mundane and released to the public nothing at all.

At the end of the day the GOP is going to run the " by royal decree, well it's different" assault and the dems are going to take a passive stance and go with the whole " we got the docs back no harm no foul, you didn't lock up HRC" approach.

Unfortunately the political calculus will win over the "rule of law".

FTP 1: Lock him up!

I'll just leave it right here that I've heard from a source of mine that the confidential informant is a member of the Secret Service. I also wouldn't rule out there being more than one confidential informant either. Apparently, some of the documents taken improperly appeared to be an attempt to conceal them from discovery of investigators, i.e., obstruction of justice.

It appears that the somebody put somebody else under oath (maybe multiple witnesses) and asked them the correct questions, whereupon the witness(es) chose to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Trump didn't get busy all by his lonesome and in single-handed fashion moving a shit-ton of top secret documents belonging to the people of the United States under the control of the National Archives to his personal residence without the help of other people. No way. Others knew and had to have been involved so this investigation by no means involves Trump alone.

But the winner of this week's Most Impressive Democrat Of The Week this week was President Joe Biden.

I just knew President Biden was going to earn your MIDOTW award for this FTP 672, but imagine my surprise upon reading your faulty reasoning!

While anybody (and his dog) can catch COVID and push through a massive legislative presidential legacy with a 50-50 Senate makeup and zero support from the Party of No, how many people on the planet do you know that have ever gone from "senile old man who knows nothing about a single thing (including the location of his bony ass)" to overnight becoming "man who knows everything and mastermind of a diabolical plot to frame a private citizen/former president."

It's a transformation that no one in history has ever accomplished, and it happened so dang fast that if you blinked, you missed it. :)

A month ago it seemed the best Democrats could do was to bring some good bills to the floor for an unsuccessful vote but at least get the Republicans on record as opposing them. Now Democrats can point to some real successes and they still have the Republicans on record as opposing them.
