It is not delusional to think democracy can work.

It is definitely delusional to keep claiming it doesn't work if it isn't perfect according to your own personal definition. It's no different than an employee; it works to some extent even if you personally think it's shitty at doing its job.

Yes, CW is responsible to address One Demand.

Now that's what I call delusional; not even a scintilla of fact in that sentence.

He is a public figure by virtue of this blog and is subject to the same requirements he puts on other public figures to address issues as well as the requirements he puts on himself in his mission statement.

By your own definition, you are a public figure by virtue of your website and are subject to the same requirements you're placing on CW to address issues. You are therefore responsible for promoting CW's political agenda on your website. Instead of performing your responsibility of promoting CW on your website, you're on his website pissing all over his agenda on a repetitive basis while insisting he promote your political agenda.

You see the problem?

You, of course, are not required to address One Demand.

Not a single person on Earth is required to address your personal bullshit.

Now where is the damn article on pie that CW is required to address?
I just know it's coming any day now... especially if I keep trolling CW and hurling insults at his beliefs. I have a recipe for chocolate pie that is going to save the world's hypocrisy... I mean, democracy.

An asshole would look at the speech for talking points.

Said the commenter who quoted multiple parts of the speech and used them to argue/discuss his political agenda... the very definition of a talking point.

So you're admitting you're an "asshole." You'll get no argument from me there.

A thinking person would look to it for insight and education.

A "thinking person" wouldn't define himself as an "asshole."

Why me? And then I realized: because I an the biggest threat to your hollow, hateful scheme.

~ Mallory McMorrow

Why does that sound so familiar?

Because you think everything is about you.

Close your eyes and imagine a world where not a single person quoted or a single thing posted above the comments section is about you personally... open your eyes to the realization you're living in it.

You are not doing anything to solve the problem.

You have that in common, you know. :)

As opposed to vile and disgusting smears that the Democrat Party gleefully latches onto to demonize THEIR opponents, eh??

So you're saying you're a Democrat?

I mean, tell me who it was that spent weeks and weeks in the comments section of this very blog attacking another commenter over using a word that he himself had used multiple times repeatedly? And remind me who it was who whined for days on end that he was disgusted that certain other commenters wouldn't join him in vilifying of the other commenter?

Maybe Democrats won't be so quick to latch onto vile and disgusting smears of racism, eh?? :^/

So you're saying you're a Democrat? Or are you saying it's only a "vile and disgusting smear" when someone you claim is a Democrat is doing it? Or are you excusing the GOP "vile and disgusting smears" because they're not Democrats?

Hypocrisy. It's not a bug in Democrat programming. It's a feature..

What is it if not hypocrisy to whine repeatedly about "vile and disgusting smears of racism" after that pathetic crusade of yours to demonize MtnCaddy as racist for using language you've used multiple times yourself? What is it if not hypocrisy to make excuses for those who would demonize their opponents as "groomers" and "pedophiles" because "Democrats" have made accusations of racism. If you applied your "simple logic" to yourself, you're a Democrat for accusing someone of racism and a groomer and a pedophile . It's your pervasive "simple logic" I'm applying here... certainly not mine.

The Point

Actually, multiple points:

(1) You are the living embodiment of what I refer to as someone who "preaches what he practices"... constantly whining about your so-called loathing of something while being fully immersed in the doing of it and excusing it when it suits your agenda.

(2) You'll convince precious few people of your so-called loathing of hypocrisy if you're constantly engaged in:

(a) Being hypocritical.
(b) Getting your knickers in a twist that others won't join you in your hypocritical crusades.
(c) Making excuses for hypocrisy.
(d) All of the above.

So, to recap:

Not only do you not loathe hypocrisy, there's a very strong case to be made that you're addicted to it and would qualify as highly nonfunctional without it.

Class dismissed... oh, and please let the door hit you on the way out in the sincere hope that it'll knock some sense into you. If the swinging door is a miss, please remember to check your mirror. :)

Russ,

While CPA may typically be associated with death from heart disease, George Floyd didn't die from heart disease. Who is to say how many more years Floyd would have lived had he not had an encounter with the police?

Yes, the police are accustomed to people in their custody screaming and complaining that they can't breathe and then were perfectly fine once they got to jail. You must admit that the circumstances in the Floyd case might have ended up in precisely that benign way if police hadn't kept him pinned down on the pavement for 10 minutes, including for some time after Floyd stopped speaking.

Are police not trained in how to handle a person in custody who is having difficulty breathing? As far as being able to speak is concerned, Floyd wasn't exactly speaking with any force at all or in complete sentences and his ability to speak was obviously getting more and more arduous. In the Floyd case, the officers involved clearly had all the information they needed to know that the man in their custody was in distress and not getting adequate airflow.

Handcuffs that serve as a "pulse oximeter" is a great idea and, perhaps, would have saved Floyd's life.

The situation should not have deteriorated to the point where providing CPR was even necessary.

The officers in this case could very easily have turned Floyd on his side or even sat him up against their vehicle. They could have used a foot hold or whatever that is called. Keeping him pinned face down on the hard pavement for ten minutes was completely unnecessary.

Floyd was pinned down in a prone position on the pavement with his hands handcuffed behind his back. I find it very difficult to understand how these officers could not control him even if they sat him up leaning against the vehicle. There was no way Floyd would be able to "rise up" or "kick" anyone from that position.

From your description one might surmise that Floyd would have keeled over and died that day even if he didn't run into Chauvin. Which is ridiculous. You ask what actions did each officer take that, on its own, would have caused Floyd's death. Are you saying that had Floyd been in perfect health without any hint of heart disease (which would make him a very unique individual, by the way) the actions taken by the officers that day would NOT have caused his death?

I don't know that any police officers are afraid or control freaks or a combination of both or if neither applies. All I can do is form an opinion about that based solely on their behavior.

As for my "real and brutal criminals running free" ... I don't know what the hell I was talking about there. :)

I am aware of the differences in how the term homicide (yikes - did I actually write "homocide"!?) is used in a medical as compared to legal sense. So, the ME said the manner of death was homicide, right? But, the cause of death was police restraint. So, in the Floyd case, was not the manner and cause of death both related to police action? In other words, medically speaking, the death was a homicide and legally speaking, the death was caused by the actions of the officers.

And, no, "Chauvin’s sneering and his apparent arrogance" does NOT make me want him to be held responsible for killing Floyd. I don't operate that way. I'm actually a bit offended that you would think I do.

Finally, you equate the actions by these officers on Floyd to putting pressure on the back of your neck for 10 minutes while seated. Well, that ain't what the officers did to Floyd! It wasn't just a knee to the neck for 10 minutes! Floyd wasn't able to breathe in the absolute mechanical sense of what breathing actually is because he was pinned down against the hard pavement and wasn't able to perform the actual mechanics of breathing! If you can't see that, then I don't know what more to say.

Here is one critical point that I hope we can both wholeheartedly agree upon - going forward, this case and court proceeding should become part of the training that all police officers receive.

Russ,

I have learned a lot from your very insightful posts and you have never failed, not even spectacularly, in your contributions here. Quite the opposite, in fact! That is particularly true with respect to these cases involving use of force by police - by a very small number of police officers.

Because of your comments, I have actually changed my mind on how I see the behavior of the officers involved in these cases and agree with your perspective most of the time.

However, you appear to be missing the forest for the trees when it comes to police culpability in the Floyd case.

More later!

And Disney is catering to barely HALF A PERCENT of Americans and totally and completely IGNORING 99.45% of Americans..

Again, where is the LOGIC of this???

There is ABSOLUTELY NO LOGIC to that thinking, because NO ONE BUT YOU thinks that is happening!

Disney is the KING of customer service! I think it is amazing that they are willing to be considerate to such a marginalized group and work to make these folks feel included. Who is dumb enough to think that a corporation as successful as Disney wouldn’t be able to find ways to be inclusive to 100% instead of just 99.45%? Of course you aren’t demonstrating what a hateful bigot you are by being angry that Disney wanted to include people you want to think that you are superior to for some unknown reason.

Michale,

Instead of Disney saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls…Welcome to Disney World, we hope you enjoy the show”, they decide to go with, “We at Disney World would like to welcome each and every one of you to our park and hope that you enjoy the show!” and you feel frak’d by that?

You poor fragile little thing… needing to be constantly acknowledged as being a “man”. Sad? Nah. Pathetic? BINGO!!!

Liz,

You've tapped out some pretty amusing posts here. I may respond - in this thread - at some point when I have time but, not sure it would do any good ...

Amusing? I promise you that my posts were not intended for your amusement! I took responding to your comments and questions very seriously and attempted to give you as comprehensively accurate insights into policing as I could. If anything I said made you believe that I was making light of your questions, I apologize…that was not my intent. I realize that you might not like the answers that I gave. I can do nothing about that. My goal was to provide accuracy, not amusement! I look forward to learning how I managed to fail so spectacularly.

Disney diversity and inclusion manager Vivian Ware says the company has eliminated all mentions of "ladies," "gentlemen," "boys," and "girls" in its theme parks in order to create "that magical moment" for children who do not identify with traditional gender roles.

So, let's cater to the .55%...

Frak the other 99.45% of Americans... :^/

What kind of complete and utter MORON would think this is a good idea???

Again, I am no fan of GZ’s,

That's because you don't know him, Russ..

I do and he's the nicest guy you would ever hope to meet..

Imagine how YOU would fare if millions of people who hate your guts and think you are the scum of the earth crawled up your ass with a microscope and examined every minute aspect of your life..

How would YOU fare???

Glass house, my friend.. Glass houses..

But the general public had been lied to and made to believe that Trayvon Martin was a 11 year old child that YOU had hunted down and attacked for being Black in his neighborhood! What a living hell it must have been to realize that the only way he could have avoided being made the most hated man in this country (& perhaps the world) was to have let Martin kill him!

Exactly...

The entire prosecution against Z was totally whacked from the get go...

But try and convince those who refuse to look at FACTS....

Less than 5% of Americans identify as gay/lesbian in the US.. That's 16.5 million Americans..

Only 11% of THAT identify as non binary...

So, .55% of Americans identify as a nonsensical gender..

And Disney is catering to barely HALF A PERCENT of Americans and totally and completely IGNORING 99.45% of Americans..

Again, where is the LOGIC of this???

Woke needs to be classified as a mental illness..

Because only a complete and utter MORON would think that it makes good business sense to cater to a HALF a percent of people while ignoring the other 99.5%...

What *IS* it with Democrats that they are such complete and utter MORONS??

Asking for a friend..

JL,

Trayvon Martin is the case nobody can really say, because there are only two people who know precisely what happened, and one of them is dead. M's buddy Zim was engaging in vigilantism well before the Trayvon incident, and disparaged the police for not doing more. So even if legally he's not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, i think his failure to respect the law is what put him in a fistfight with a teenager, from which he escaped by pulling the trigger.

A fistfight would suggest that both parties were willing combatants. Only one person had scrapes and bruising to their knuckles consistent with punching a person and bashing their skull into the asphalt. The other had bruises to his face and skull and multiple lacerations to the scalp that were consistent with being punched multiple times and having one’s skull grasped and repeatedly bashed upon the asphalt; but had no wounds to his knuckles or hands that you would expect if he had landed even a single punch.

Unless Zimmerman was trying to break Martin’s hands by launching his face into Martin’s fists…what occurred that night was a physical attack.

And based on the testimony of Martin’s best friend — whom he was talking to on his cell phone when he encountered GZ — Martin was enraged at how GZ had stared at Martin. She testified that Martin told her that he was “gonna teach that crackah’” a lesson. Martin said he was going to double back and surprise GZ, who was a total stranger to Martin and whose only crime was looking at Martin in a way that angered Martin.

I am not suggesting that GZ doesn’t have the personality of pond scum. He’s about as attractive as a flesh-eating virus. But even pond scum should have the right to defend it’s own life if threatened by someone who did not like how the scum looked at it!

Again, I am no fan of GZ’s, but can you imagine after surviving being physically attacked like that, having to shoot your attacker because you believed you would die if you didn’t stop them, and then being told by the police that the evidence clearly supported your claim of self-defense that you would think that the worst was over? How confused would you feel being told that you were about to be indicted by the State AG for murder after being told the evidence supported that you shot your attacker in self-defense? Had evidence been discovered that offered a different timeline than they first thought? No. No new evidence had been found.

JL

The effect of Chauvin's behavior toward Floyd was much more significant than one restraining hold.

That is the understatement of the year, my friend! The apparent indifference that he demonstrates throughout the call is as palpable as it was nauseating! That is why his attorneys should have allowed him to testify — his defense needed to try to humanize him any way it could. Of course, he might suffer from the worst case of resting bitchface ever recorded and humanizing him was never a real possibility so they did not see any reason to try.

If my brother and i are playing around and he puts a knee on my neck for ten minutes, it's not the same as if I'm sitting in my car with groceries, and police pull me out, handcuff me, don't notice I'm having a heart attack and THEN put a knee on my neck for ten minutes. I will stipulate that the hold itself can't kill anyone, but as far as I'm concerned Chauvin's actions still qualify as depraved indifference, and he's guilty.

Josh, you are overlooking the one key factor that everyone seems to want to pretend never took place — the justification for why the police contacted Floyd in the first place and what caused them to place him handcuffed, face down on the ground, restraining his movement.

Floyd tried to pass what was clearly counterfeit money at the local market and the police were called. When they arrived and questioned him, it was clear that he was not well. In the video showing the police contacting Floyd and asking him to answer a few questions, Floyd was diaphoretic and needed assistance sitting on the ground against the side of the building and assistance in standing up afterwards. This is when medics were called.

How shocking do you think it was for the officers when the person that they had thought was in such poor health that he needed an ambulance suddenly chooses to fight the police and resists arrest; and despite him being sick enough to need medical aid, he was still strong enough that it required 4 to 5 officers to get him into their custody? Floyd was restrained because he had demonstrated that he would not go with them peacefully! That was HIS choice, not theirs!

Depraved indifference? I can understand why you would want Chauvin found guilty of this based solely on the video of Floyd dying. I find myself wanting that anytime I force myself to view the video, honestly. But we know that the video fails to tell the whole story.

Junior and Alex Jones are in discussions about voluntarily appearing before the J6C.

And...Jones wants immunity first.

DeSantis better hope Disney does not play hardball. Threaten to move.

Now THAT's funny... :D

I would love to see Disney pack up the Matterhorn and take it somewhere else.. :D

Disney threatening to move is an empty threat and everyone knows it..

I think any challenger can probably peal off some votes from the Orlando area as they get to absorb a billion in debt, which is about a $2000 property tax increase.

Disney actually paying taxes will more than offset any financial obligations the counties will acquire..

Disney wants to run with the Big Dogs??

Let's see if they can keep up.. :D

We will see on Disney. First it has to pass the courts as the existing law is a bit vague as to whether DeSantis even has the power to dissolve a special district. I think any challenger can probably peal off some votes from the Orlando area as they get to absorb a billion in debt, which is about a $2000 property tax increase. DeSantis better hope Disney does not play hardball. Threaten to move. Does not have to be a serious threat, just spin up an exploratory committee, that should get plenty of media attention then watch DeSantis sweat as multiple states offer eye raising bids in the 10's of billions.

What I think will really happen is once everyone figures out exactly what is involved of the Orlando counties absorbing Disney responsibilities the whole thing will be quietly swept under the rug in about a year, a bit before the 2023 deadline.

M's buddy Zim was engaging in vigilantism well before the Trayvon incident, and disparaged the police for not doing more.

No facts to support.

What you call "vigilantism" normal people would call being a good citizen..

So even if legally he's not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, i think his failure to respect the law is what put him in a fistfight with a teenager, from which he escaped by pulling the trigger.

Except for the fact that Zimmerman had disengaged and was heading back to his vehicle when he was jumped from behind by Martin...

This was established as fact in court..

In part, the jury punished Chauvin for his indifference..

Another part was the jury was afraid of riots and looting..

Neither of which is a sufficient reason to find a man guilty of a murder he did not commit..

JL,

Depraved is in the eye of the beholder..

And indifference is not a crime..

The ONLY question that the jury needed to answer is DID CHAUVIN CAUSE FLOYD'S DEATH...

The answer is NO...

These are the facts of the case..

As to Eric Garner, i accept that he already had an arrest warrant out, and was resisting, so it's not fair to blame the officers for failing to restrain him peacefully. Putting him in a headlock and refusing medical attention when he needed it wasn't exactly great policing, but it's understandable given the circumstances.

@Russ,

The effect of Chauvin's behavior toward Floyd was much more significant than one restraining hold.

As far as I'm concerned, Disney can play the world's saddest song on the world's smallest violin. They made billions playing politicians for special tax breaks, so one miscalculation on their part doesn't bother me either way.

REAL Americans don't like woke shit..

How woke is too woke? Corporate America's sharp left turn prompts unprecedented backlash

Critics of corporate wokeness say enough, mobilize to combat firms' embrace of far-left causes

A diverse coalition of ministers, politicians, former corporate executives, and others is saying enough to corporate America's embrace of far-left politics, launching a wave of new initiatives to stop a years-long trend of corporations going woke.

Former McDonald's CEO Ed Rensi on Wednesday said companies have "no business" being in politics and has launched a new advocacy coalition to fight woke corporate politics.

"Corporations have no business being on the right or the left because they represent everybody there and their sole job is to build equity for their investors," Rensi told Fox Business, adding he believes progressive policies are negatively affecting shareholders.
https://justthenews.com/nation/economy/how-woke-too-woke-corporate-americas-sharp-left-turn-prompts-unprecedented-backlash

It's time that businesses just concentrated on their business and not try to be the keeper of the morals..

Disney has absolutely *NO PROBLEM* keeping quiet about China's government practices and activities. It's only GOOD business to not piss off the country yer serving..

So, why doesn't Disney show that same good sense in America???

It's funny how ya'all celebrate over TRUTH SOCIAL....

? Obama comes out to get mad about disinformation:

Yesterday at Stanford, President Obama gave a sweeping speech about disinformation, my favorite thing to complain about people complaining about. He called for more government regulation of platforms (they should be “be required to have a higher standard of care when it comes to advertising on their site”) and criticized big tech’s business model (“inflammatory content attracts engagement”).

“These companies need to have some other north star other than just making money and increasing market share,” the former president said.

We have an idea of what that North Star can be: how about the constitution? There’s a First Amendment in there that seems like a pretty great articulation of what the values of a social media company ought to be.

? CNN+ shuts down: A reported $300 million was spent on CNN+ and it lasted less than a month. (And we thought Quibi’s demise was epic.) It turns out Americans just aren’t interested in paying for content from Don Lemon and Rex Chapman. Brian Stelter, who also had a show on the short-lived service, quoted the new CNN CEO who called it “an incredibly successful launch.” We’re not cable TV experts, but we know that we have more subscribers than CNN+ did. RIP.

Meanwhile on Apple TV+, “The Problem with Jon Stewart”—a mush of lefty rants from a couple years ago warmed up and served again—is a ratings disaster dropping by the fifth episode to just 40,000 viewers. And on Spotify, The Obamas’ deal with the company has fallen apart and they will seek a new podcast home.

But yet ignore how every AIR AMERICA-esque media program always seems to bite the dust..

It turns out people DON'T want to listen to Democrat hypocrites bashing America 24/7...

Who knew!?? :^/

Florida House votes 68-38 to strip Disney of privileged tax and self-governing status: Woke conglomerate pays the price for publicly bashing Governor Ron DeSantis' 'Don't Say Gay' bill

Walt Disney World has been stripped of its special tax and self-governing status

The Florida House gave final passage to a bill that would end the Reedy Creek Improvement District, aka Disney's government, on Thursday

The House passed the measure with a 68-38 vote after the Senate backed the bill by 23-16 the day before

The legislation will now go to DeSantis' desk for signing and could come into effect on June 1, 2023

DeSantis previously said he wanted to remove Disney's protections because he doesn't 'support special privileges in law just because a company is powerful'
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10740583/Florida-strip-Disney-privileged-tax-self-governing-status.html

Disney has been AWFUL quiet lately, eh?? :D

Too bad Disney didn't learn to shut up BEFORE all their woke crap got them in so much trouble, eh? :D

See what happens when a company lets a VERY SMALL MINORITY dictate political actions??

As to the subject of the commentary..

Now Democrats understand how the Right feels when all of the logical and rational arguments are reduced to hysterical accusations of racism by Democrats..

Doesn't feel good does it??

Maybe Democrats should take the lesson to heart, eh?

Russ,

I’ve checked around and not a single medical school offers “Pro-life medicine” as a specialty; nor do they teach any classes by that name.

Hello?? McFly!!???

OF COURSE "pro life medicine" is not a "specialty"...

**ALL** medicine is "PRO-LIFE"...

**EVERY** medical person is "PRO LIFE"...

You see how that works??

Liz,

I saved the best for last!

Who killed Floyd? :)

No one. He died from heart disease. It sucked how it occurred, but nothing the officers did that day would have caused his death on its on. Chauvin’s sneering and his apparent arrogance makes you want him to be held responsible for killing Floyd.

The DA’s office want you to believe that Chauvin’s knee to the back of Floyd’s neck killed him, somehow. I can prove to you that it isn’t possible. All you have to do is to safely recreate what Floyd had done to him. Take your fist and press it firmly to the back of your neck. Keep pressure on the back of your neck for 10 minutes while remaining seated.

The prosecution’s experts stated that the ME was wrong to say that the knee to the neck could not have cut off oxygen to Floyd’s brain. If the prosecution is correct, applying pressure to the back of your neck should cause you to become unconscious at some point. Unlike in Floyd’s case, where the prosecution claims Chauvin kept the pressure on Floyd’s neck for over 10 minutes…even after he became unconscious…, once you fall unconscious you will cease to be applying the pressure with your fist and you should wake up within seconds…your breathing nor your heart beating will have stopped! Please continue the pressure to the back of the neck for the full ten minutes. What will you discover once the timer alerts you that the experiment is finished?

First, if you pass out, it will be because of other factors…not the pressure to the back of your neck.

Your 2 carotid arteries run from your head to your chest and can be felt on the outside of your Adam’s apple on the front of your neck. Your pressing on the back of your neck won’t be enough pressure to stop the flow of blood from even a singular artery…much less stopping blood from flowing through both carotid arteries!

Next, you applying firm pressure to the back of your neck the full 10 minutes won’t strangle you, but you will have a decent bruise where you applied the pressure. Floyd did not have a bruise on the back of his neck…meaning Chauvin did not apply the minimal pressure with his knee required to leave a bruise on Floyd’s neck.

We want someone to blame in this tragic death. Heck, until the ME’s autopsy, my first response to viewing the video was to want Chauvin arrested and thrown under the prison for his heartless conceitedness and for the suffering that I believed he had put Floyd through.

But the evidence and facts must dictate whether criminal charges are warranted. No one should face prison simply because we all hate the person.

Excellent!

Did you see this, Michale?

We three Wise Mmen all seem to acknowledge these subtle yet important points. I'm even thinking of how tough it'd be to research up a cogent argument against your argument that Chauvin wouldn't have been indicted if Floyd wasn't black.

The video was undeniably horrendous but even at the time I wondered about political pressure. Chauvin and that crew were undeniably guilty of bad public relations as well as even worse timing, no?

K, Elizabeth. We'll see what you say after I school you.

NO malice inferred as it appears that you are misinformed.

It's taken this long cuz I've got twenty-thirty hours invested in researching the matter. The more that I dig and stuff.

Likewise, I've invested in Michale and the topic of law enforcement reform in Murica -- yo, I'm almost there!

I define engagement as respecting others by first listening and then putting effort into not wasting anyone's time for not doing my homework.

Won't bother either of you until my fastball hits 96 MPH, and stuff.

Liz

Next question. Wouldn't it have been just as easy to simply roll him just very slightly so that he was on his side, handcuffed with four officers holding him down, until the medics arrived?

How do you think they would have answered that, Russ?

Honestly, I have wondered the same thing. Maybe they could have, but it would not have prevented Floyd’s death. One of the signs that someone is in cardiopulmonary arrest is they will complain of not being able to breathe. They cannot position their body in a way that allows them to breathe comfortably. They are drowning.

I reiterate the point that the officers did not initially choose to put Floyd face down on the ground in handcuffs as they waited for the ambulance to arrive. Floyd chose to physically combat the officers trying to put him into the back of a patrol car. He was a large man and it took 4 or 5 officers to get him under control. If you place someone who has been combative with you on their sides, they are able to kick anyone in front or behind them. They can rise up and stand pretty easily from this position. Controlling their movement is more difficult. Facedown there is no range of motion to kick anyone with any force and it is difficult to stand without assistance.

These officers are responsible for the unnecessary death of George Floyd, anyway you slice (or spin) it.

How are they responsible? Did they cause him to have an enlarged heart? Which officer clogged 90% of one of his arteries? What action did each officer take that on it’s on would have caused Floyd’s death?

And, I disgree that these officers were not afraid. Being afraid seems to be a quality most of them harbour. Well, it could be just a simple case of loving being in power of someone, too, regardless of the situational circumstances.

And you are basing your opinion on what, exactly? How do you know that being afraid is a quality that most officers harbor? You have witnessed this personally? Then you say that the police love using their legal authority to abuse people with. So are they fearful submissives or bullying dominants?

And, as long as that attitude of policing continues, there will be more George Floyds and the real and brutal criminals - the ones police should have a healthy fear of - will run free.

How does the police’s attitude in the Floyd case permit “real and brutal criminals” to run free?

By the way ... didn't the ME rule Floyd's death a homocide?.

Yes. The word “homicide” has different meanings when used as a medical term compared to its legal definition.

If you are having sex with a man, and he suddenly grabs his chest and dies in the middle of your love making… that will be ruled a “homicide” by the ME. It just means outside factors played a role in the death. The police will not arrest you for homicide in this case.

Liz,

Do you know what cardiopulmonary arrest is, Russ?

Sure do. Cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA) is the cessation of effective ventilation and circulation. It typically is associated with death from heart disease.

The police likely ignored Floyd’s cries for help because the hundreds of arrests prior to Floyd’s — where the person in custody was screaming and complaining that they couldn’t breathe — were perfectly fine when they got them to the jail.

These officers - and, perhaps, most officers, everywhere - have very little capability when it comes to discerning one situation from another and then to change the way they act, accordingly. This is a very, very important aspect of policing. Without this ability, police are not able to perform their duties in a logical, safe and effective manner.

How do you discern which person screaming, “I cannot breathe!” is actually in respiratory distress? As an EMT, we were trained that if the patient is able to speak, you do not start CPR as they are clearly able to move air efficiently enough to speak.

The prosecution put an “medical expert” on the stand who testified that being able to speak does NOT mean that the person is able to breathe… which is a fudging lie! The mechanics behind our ability to speak require adequate airflow in order to make any sound with our vocal chords.

The expert then walked back their bullshit quackery and said that Floyd being able to speak did not mean that he was getting “adequate oxygen into his bloodstream” when he was taking breaths. That is a very true statement. But the officers do not carry pulse oximeters as standard equipment. So they cannot tell who is not getting enough oxygen (Which is why I want to design handcuffs that will also serve as a pulse oximeter for the person in custody. After Floyd’s death, I bet departments would buy them up quickly!).

Not giving CPR is NOT a crime. The ME noting that Floyd’s enlarged heart and clogged arteries (90% in one, 75% in 2 others) as “contributing factors” in his “cause of death” is a good indication that CPR would have been ineffective. Floyd had told the officers that he had just been released from the hospital because of COVID-19, which would keep me from providing CPR in this case.

Liz,

I just saw where you had posted multiple comments and questions in response to things I had said about the Floyd case. I do not want you to think that I was ignoring you, because you asked some great questions that deserve an answer. I’ll respond in today’s article so we do not have to keep jumping back and forth.

MtnCaddy,

Naw, even if Ukraine folded right now, Putin has already lost the war. Question is, will he lose his life?

If you start following things a little more closely, then you won't be in for such a big surprise when this Ukraine war comes to an end ...

I see our own pointless pontificater is preemptively calling us all his new favorite naughty word.

Do you ever ask yourself who really is the asshole? Is Don? Am I? Are you? Well, don't leave it to mere human opinion. Ask the bots at Are you the asshole? Where three bots will decide and give you their totally biased artificially intelligent opinion, sometimes with surprising nuance...

For example I put in Don's post [8]

ExcusesRUs_BOT:

The same way the one demand is handled for public figures (and even then, not all public figures are created equal and some don’t even make the cut) is the same way it is handled for democracy to work.

There are things we all can do to address the problem of democracy not working.

One of them is not giving into the temptation to be a hateful asshole.

SanAndreasYourFault_BOT:

YTA. I would never refer to you as an “activist”. Not after reading this.

SplitTheBaby_BOT:

If you're gonna make demands, you gotta be able to meet them. You are not meeting this demand. If you expect people to give you what you want, you have to be prepared to give what they want as well.

Also: wtf is this "CW's blog"?

Michale,

FPC
[28]
And NOW the stakes are even higher in 2022...

If Democrats cheat again in 2022 as they did in 2020..

They be goin' to JAIL!!!

I'm cool with that. Imprisoning all the Democrats who cheated in 2020 obviously didn't get their attention!

[30]
And WHICH Party was it that created the KKK??

WHICH Party was it that gave this country the vile, disgusting and perverse KKK??

Oh yes, that's right..

It was the DEMOCRAT PARTY…

And why would an intelligent person regard that as remotely RELEVANT, here in the 21st century?

[35]
So it is with Ukraine..

Ukraine cannot win...

But Ukraine CAN make sure Putin loses…

Naw, even if Ukraine folded right now, Putin has already lost the war. Question is, will he lose his life?

And based on what both sides have shown us so far, I'd no longer bet that Russia is any kind of shoo in.

No, it was clearly acknowledging my Goodness as a God, down here among my Children.

For the record, my favorite phrase is,

I'm not the center of the universe.

I AM the universe!

Go forth and sin no more.
