Suggesting that we wouldn’t have as many people sick if we simply stopped testing for the virus. He did not care whether you were sick or not, he only cared that you increased the number of total sick with the virus and that made him look bad! It’s why Trump declared victory over the virus in early 2020.

Well, the way I see it is that wearing a mask while we are still in the acute phase of this pandemic is a sign that we care about the health of the most vulnerable people in our communities who are most susceptible to COVID-19 disease.

Wearing a mask is a very small sacrifice to keep everyone around us safe.

As I am fully vaxed and boosted and as I have always been a hand-washer who doesn't touch their face unless their hands are clean, I'm not too worried about contributing to the transmission of this virus. And, frankly, wearing a mask isn't the most vital part of my protection strategy. So, my wearing a mask is more of a show of respect for others around me - I'm letting them know that I care about them and about keeping us all safe from this virus.

His administration appears to lack any viable plan to control border crossing. The president’s gaffes alternate between the amusing and the alarming. The Democratic Party seems headed for a pasting this November. But things could always be worse — and they would be if Biden listened to his left-wing critics.

They look at Democrats’ low poll numbers and think the way to raise them is to go even further left and to be even more partisan. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Bronx Democrat, recently said that Biden and other Democrats have erred by clinging to the outdated belief that bipartisan deals are possible. They are in danger of losing seats this fall, she claims, because they have catered to a dwindling group of independent voters rather than delivered for the party’s base.

That means they should play hardball with centrist Democrats such as Senators Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona and Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Ocasio-Cortez thinks that the failure of the Democrats’ “Build Back Better” initiative vindicated the legislative strategy that she and other progressives pursued: holding up passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill the moderates wanted to pressure them to support the social spending bonanza in Build Back Better.

It's a triply strange conclusion. First, the strategy failed: Progressives could not maintain the blockade against the infrastructure compromise. Second, a number of moderates indicated they were prepared to see both bills die rather than cave to the progressives. If the blockade had held, then, the result might have been no bills passed instead of one.

We've never had any issues. Sure, there have been recounts but, nothing out of the ordinary.

Of course, you have to trust the election officials. And, if you don't trust them, then who the frak cares anyway, then, right?

They count the vote by hand in Toronto? Vancouver? No machines at all? No adding machine? All the counting is done by a person with a pencil? If that were so it would take weeks to know who won.

Actually, it is done by many persons and we usually know the result by election night or the next morning. No fuss, no muss ... :)

The campaigns last for about 30 days, give or take.

And, in federal elections, as for provincial elections, we vote for our riding Members of Parliament (Federal) or riding members of Provincial Pariliament or Legislative Assemblies (MPPs or MLAs) and NOT directly for the Prime Minister or Provincial Premier.

The leader of the party with the most votes becomes the PM or Premier.

In other words, we don't spend very much time at all on elections. Which suits me just fine.

And, just very recently, Prime Minister Trudeau, who currently enjoys, ahem, a minority government, signed a memorandum of understanding with the New Democratic Party that will ensure that we won't have a federal election for another five years or so ... of course, the Conservatives are crying foul but, who the heck cares about them, anyways!? :)
