Sorry, trailer poon, you have obviously confused your actual reality with somebody else's... not a new revelation to anyone who is a regular reader, that is without question.

While I obviously do live perpetually and metaphorically rent free in your demonstrably little head, you shouldn't confuse that with having anything whatsoever to do with your pathetic existence, your trailer life, your swampland, or anything else to do with you, your shithole, your aforementioned "bimbo," or your admitted tiny little hands or fingers. :D

Yes, sir. Nothing says "butthurt" like a dipshit carrying around a Confederate battle flag. It also screams "loser" and "traitor" and knows exactly which Party accepts it with open arms.

Chicago Teachers Union leader calls mayor ‘relentlessly stupid’ as students miss another day of learning

Union members voted to stay home last week

The head of the Chicago Teachers Union is now calling Mayor Lori Lightfoot "relentlessly stupid" as hundreds of thousands of students are missing out on a fourth consecutive day of classes due to an ongoing dispute over coronavirus safety measures.

CTU President Jesse Sharkey made the comment Monday morning, nearly a week after his rank-and-file voted to switch to remote learning because of increasing coronavirus cases in the area. However, Chicago Public Schools is refusing to allow remote learning and instead has been canceling classes outright, while both sides remain locked in negotiations to bring students back into classrooms.

"Conservative women trailblazers have been mocked and maligned by the liberal press for years. You learn to deal with it and not make excuses. When Vice President Kamala Harris took office, she knew she was charting a new path and would have to prove herself at every step along the way. She could have used her platform to protect the women and girls in Afghanistan, secure the southern border, or reduce crime in our cities. Instead, she tossed aside the historic opportunity she had been given to criticize the tough media environment conservative women have been successfully navigating for decades."

"There is nothing sexist or racist stating the fact that Kamala Harris has been an absolute disaster on every policy issue in her portfolio - especially the border crisis.
There is nothing sexist or racist about the fact that if you put Kamala Harris on the congressional ballot in any district across America, she would lose because she can’t conduct a basic interview without embarrassing herself and Joe Biden."

Democrats are always screaming 'isms to cover up their own incompetence... :eyeroll:

The fact that Democrats HYPE our differences proves they are all about being divisive and forcing everyone into neat little labels..

It's not a 'no politics' rule. It's a no political commentary rule. The tunes may be as political as we wish to make our selections.

And, by 'we' and 'our', I actually do mean 'we' and 'our'. Ahem.

:D

OK I understand the distinction..

It's been a long, long time ...

As you know, my evenings usually belong to my wife.. And I am usually in bed by 2000hrs.. :D

But it would be nice to be in a forum where personal attacks are not in play.. I might pop in... :D

Is that why you came back?

In general, no... I came back because I just HAD to rub it in when Build Back Broke died an ignoble death.. :D

Once I had satisfactorily dispensed with JM's and MC's wager, there was no reason for me NOT to stay..

I just love the political back and forth.. :D I hung out over at the RCP forums during my Weigantian(™michale) hiatus, but it doesn't have the fun and excitement that Weigantia(™michale) has.. But it doesn't have the level of personal attacks that here has, so there is that going for RCP...

But this is my home.. Has been since it's inception back in 2006, or 2005 or whenever it was..

Can you believe you and me and JL have known each other for 16 years!!!?? :D

Vaccines were never meant to be the gatekeeper that prevents the virus from getting in.

It's about what happens to the virus post-infection. And, on that score, the vaccines are working beautifully.

If Democrats ACTUALLY followed the science and had a lick of common sense, they would rescind the Vaccine Mandate order before the SCOTUS does it for them..

Omicron Makes Biden's Vaccine Mandates Obsolete

There is no evidence so far that vaccines are reducing infections from the fast-spreading variant.

Even when one party is in nominal control of Washington, you win some and you lose some. The fact that Democrats are losing some now does not mean the filibuster has been weaponized. Legitimate arguments against the filibuster remain; it’s perfectly reasonable to believe there should be no supermajority thresholds in the legislative process. But any claim that we have no choice but to abolish or curtail the filibuster because the power is being abused to such an extent that government can’t function doesn't hold up to close scrutiny.

This has ALWAYS been the Democrat Party's problem..

Their short-sightedness...

They don't think their actions thru to the logical and wholly expected consequences...

Packing the SCOTUS and killing the filibuster is simply 2 current examples of this flawed thinking...

Yep. Why people do the stupid things they do never ceases to amaze.

Not sure how it is in Canada, but here in the US, Americans have the RIGHT to do stupid things as long as it doesn't affect anyone else..

Yunno... My Body, My Choice

Funny how, even as erroneous as it is applied to abortion, Democrats are ALL about that.. Right up until it becomes inconvenient to their agenda...

Reposted for clarity....

The Filibuster Has Not Been Weaponized
COMMENTARY

Sen. Jon Tester had been reluctant to tamper with the filibuster rule, but last week said to Politico, “I think if it [the filibuster] wasn’t weaponized, I wouldn’t be talking about it now,” and to his home state Missoula Current newspaper, “I think that what we have now is we’ve got a situation where the filibuster’s been weaponized and used on nearly every bill.”

But that is not the current situation. So far during the Biden administration, the filibuster has been used by the Senate Republican minority sparingly.

Under the upper chamber’s current system, an effective filibuster occurs when an attempt to end Senate floor debate, a procedural step known as cloture, fails to win 60 votes. Only eight failed cloture votes have taken place during the first year of the Biden presidency, half the annual average of the 20 prior years.

Compare and contrast that to the Democrat Party's use of the filibuster under President Trump.

In 2017, when Donald Trump was president and Democrats were in the minority, 61 senators — including 30 Democrats — signed a letter promising to preserve the right of the Senate minority to delay or block legislation. But now that Republicans are in the minority, just two Democrats — Sens. Joe Manchin III (W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) — are willing to make that same pledge. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) not only refused, he warned he will not allow the GOP minority to “dictate to the Senate what we should do and how we should proceed.”

When Schumer was minority leader, he vigorously used the filibuster to do just that. Under his leadership, Democrats used the filibuster to block funding for construction of Trump’s border wall in 2019. They used it not once, but twice to impede passage of the Cares Act — forcing Republicans to agree to changes including a $600 weekly federal unemployment supplement. They used it in September and October to stop Republicans from passing further coronavirus relief before the November election. They used it to halt Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-S.C.) police reform legislation so Republicans could not claim credit for forging a bipartisan response to the concerns of racial justice protesters. They used it to block legislation to force “sanctuary cities” to cooperate with federal officials, and to stop a prohibition on taxpayer funding of abortion, bans on abortions once the unborn child is capable of feeling pain, and protections for the lives of babies born alive after botched abortions.

And those are just the bills Democrats killed with actual filibuster votes. More often than not, the majority doesn’t even bring up legislation that does not have 60 votes needed to cut off debate. Just the threat of a Democratic filibuster stopped Republicans from moving forward on a host of priorities, including entitlement reforms, immigration reforms, lawsuit reforms, health-care reforms, budget cuts, expanded gun rights and the defunding of Planned Parenthood. And Democrats have used the filibuster to force Republicans to reduce the scope of some of their biggest legislative achievements. Republicans could not make the Trump income tax cut permanent, because they had to use the arcane budget reconciliation process (which requires a simple majority vote, but limits what can be enacted) to avoid a Democratic filibuster.

I&I/TIPP Poll: Finally, Something Dem And GOP Voters Agree On — Don’t Kill The Filibuster

Senate Democrats recently threatened to eliminate the filibuster if their “Build Back Better” and “For The People” bills weren’t passed. Such a strategy, however, holds serious political dangers for elected Democrats: A bipartisan majority of both Republicans and Democrats support keeping the filibuster, a new I&I/TIPP Poll shows.

Responding to recent events, the monthly I&I/TIPP Poll, posted also at TIPPInsights, asked the following question:

As you may be aware, the filibuster is a Senate procedure that has been used to prevent the Senate from passing controversial legislation, even if a simple majority of 51 senators support it. To end a filibuster, a cloture vote of at least sixty senators out of one hundred is required. Do you support or oppose the use of the filibuster in the United States Senate?

Overall, a solid plurality support keeping the filibuster. Of those queried, 46% said they supported the parliamentary maneuver, versus 31% who said they don’t. Another 23% said they weren’t sure.

Breaking the numbers down a bit further, 22% said they “support strongly” the filibuster, while 24% said they support it “somewhat.” For those rejecting the filibuster, 16% said they oppose it strongly, while 15% said they oppose it “somewhat.”

But perhaps the biggest surprise of all: Republicans and Democrats see almost eye-to-eye on this issue. Some 51% of Democrats support the filibuster, compared to 53% of Republicans, within the margin of error for the poll. And more Democrats (35%) actually oppose the filibuster than Republicans (24%).
https://issuesinsights.com/2022/01/10/ii-tipp-poll-finally-something-dem-and-gop-voters-agree-on-dont-kill-the-filibuster/

It's the epitome of short-sightedness on the part of the Democrats to get rid of the filibuster...

I mean, honestly.. Didn't they learn their lesson when Harry Reid made it so that Judicial appointments can be passed to the bench with a simple majority..???

It's that action that DIRECTLY led to the 6-3 Conservative SCOTUS this country enjoys today...

How could Democrats be so utterly stoopid and short-sighted to want to repeat that same boneheaded error??

Fortunately, there are still some SANE Democrats in the Senate.. Sinema and Manchin will hold firm...

Funny how LET'S GO BRANDON is "cowardly" but BLM attacking and killing cops is not...

This is made even MORE comical by the FACT that the LET'S GO BRANDON fad was CREATED by the Left Wingery to cover up the *FUCK JOE BIDEN* (actual quote... Don't hate on the messenger just because you don't like the message) attitude that was and is sweeping the nation...

Wonder why the CD&GC is dragging their feet on releasing the actual death toll FROM covid??

Because they know that the actual death toll ACTUALLY from COVID is about 5% of the total death toll....

The CD&GC must keep up the Democrats' COVID hysteria and fear mongering agenda..

What's yer take on the Rittenhouse trial and the White Supremacist BS spewed by the Basement Biden administration and the leftist media??

What are Democrats afraid of?

I can tell ya'all what Democrats are afraid of..

Is the US really heading for a second civil war?

A slew of recent opinion polls show a significant minority of Americans at ease with the idea of violence against the government. Even talk of a second American civil war has gone from fringe fantasy to media mainstream.

“Is a Civil War ahead?” was the blunt headline of a New Yorker magazine article this week. “Are We Really Facing a Second Civil War?” posed the headline of a column in Friday’s New York Times. Three retired US generals wrote a recent Washington Post column warning that another coup attempt “could lead to civil war”.

The mere fact that such notions are entering the public domain shows the once unthinkable has become thinkable, even though some would argue it remains firmly improbable.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/jan/09/is-the-us-really-heading-for-a-second-civil-war

Funny... All those "opinion" pieces talking about a US Civil War??

They are all Left Wing rags...

So, obviously, it's the Left that is "at ease with the idea of violence against the government."

This jibes with the FACTS of Left Wingers ignoring 22 years (collectively) of Democrat BLM and AntiFa riots and attacks on hundreds of government buildings all over the country...

This fact is indisputable...

“At this moment, we must decide. What kind of nation are we going to be? Are we going to be a nation that accepts political violence as a norm?”
-Basement Joe Biden

By ignoring 22 YEARS(collectively) of Democrat BLM and AntiFa riots and attacks on hundreds of government buildings all over the country, Democrats and most Weigantians(™michale) have decided that "YES... We WANT a nation where political violence is the norm."

That question has been fully and completely answered by the Democrat Party..

They have been answering YES to that question since they created the KKK and Jim Crow and then fought tooth and nail against the Civil Rights laws of the 50s and 60s...

Reuters ran FactCheck articles on Sept. 4, 2020 and Oct. 16, 2020

BBBBWWWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh, apologies...

When you said "Reuters" and "Fact Check" you made it sound like it actually meant something.. :D

EYE ON THE NEWS
The Price of Dissent
A Thomson Reuters data scientist questioned the Black Lives Matter narrative—so the company fired him.
https://www.city-journal.org/black-lives-matter-thomson-reuters-and-the-price-of-dissent

Reuters is as Left Wing biased as Politi-Fact and their "fact checks" don't mean shit..

When you have something from REAL CLEAR POLITICS, the ONLY official un-biased and objective news source for FACTS in Weigantia(™michale), then you can come talk to me...

that the Democrats did not condemn the violence of the riots and actions of AntiFa.

Did they do so with the frequency and passion that they condemned Charlottesville and 6 Jan??

Of course not..

Ergo, Democrats are still hypocrites.. Token Stooop.. Stooop from the Democrat Party is not condemnation...

And seeing how AntiFa has never been an organization with a central governing body but instead a random group of rouge movements that have chosen to use the name to fit their needs at the time,

Which is COMPLETELY irrelevant to the fact that AntiFa and Democrat policies align..

it is comical to say that they’ve been around for 14 years.

You may find it funny, but it's factual..

Rose City Antifa (RCA) is an antifascist group founded in 2007 in Portland, Oregon.[1] A leftist group,[2] it is the oldest known active antifa group in the United States
-AntiFa, Rose City WIKIPEDIA

2007 is 14+ years ago, Russ... Even with Democrats' "racist math"... :D

Once again, you have no facts...

Once again, I have all facts..

Pleasure doing this back and forth with you, Russ.. :D

Reuters ran FactCheck articles on Sept. 4, 2020 and Oct. 16, 2020 that clearly showed that Biden destroyed your claim that the Democrats did not condemn the violence of the riots and actions of AntiFa. And seeing how AntiFa has never been an organization with a central governing body but instead a random group of rouge movements that have chosen to use the name to fit their needs at the time, it is comical to say that they’ve been around for 14 years. Plus, it is your weak attempt to distract from the fact that Trump and his GOP cultists are fully responsible for the failed insurrection attempt on January 6 and the continued attempts to discredit our election system and divide our nation.

Since we're talking about football, I gotta ask..

There was a play back when Brett Favre played with the Packers...

Favre had the ball at the end of a play and he tossed it to a Line Judge.. Another ref step'ed in the path of the ball and the ball hit the ref right in the back of the head..

Favre got a look of HORROR on his face and was shaking his hands, "NO NO NO!!!" and the ref gave Favre a REALLY dirty look and then threw a flag...

I have seen references of this in NFL blogs, but I am AMAZED that in this YOUTUBE era, I cannot find a SINGLE video of this hilarious NFL moment...

Even Basement Biden's CD&GC (which is not known for it's reliable pronouncements) savaged Justice BETTER_LATINA Sotomayer's BS claim about juvenile COVID...

Walensky says Sotomayor's pediatric COVID hospitalization number was off 96.5%

The Supreme Court justice claimed there are more than 100,000 children in 'serious condition' from COVID-19

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky clarified that the number of children hospitalized with COVID-19 is nowhere close to the statistic put forth by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor Friday, while noting that Americans can still work to reduce hospitalization by getting vaccinated.

Speaking with "Fox News Sunday," Walensky provided an update on the current numbers, confirming to host Bret Baier that there are fewer than 3,500 children in hospitals with COVID-19.

The Civil War?? Oh yea... That was the war that Democrats started to preserve their right to keep slaves..

Yes... Democrats are still butthurt that the Republicans made Democrats give up their slaves and then, in the 60s, it was Republicans who passed the Civil Rights Acts that Democrats fought tooth and nail against..

Yea, agreed... Democrats are still butthurt...

Amazing how these FACTS are, eh?? :D

And, from the ONLY objective OFFICIAL News Source of Weigantia(™michale)....

The Progressive Logic - And Dangers - of Build Back Better

“Build Back Better” is far more consequential than the earlier COVID relief packages. That’s why Democrats are so angry at those who blocked its passage and so determined to push it forward.

Why is BBB more important than the COVID legislation? Because pandemic relief was essentially a massive stimulus program, with the usual smorgasbord of treats for favored groups, but little more than that. Although BBB is also a massive stimulus, its real importance lies in the permanent entitlement programs it would launch, everything from universal pre-K and Medicare expansion to mandated paid leave from private employers.
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/2022/01/09/the_progressive_logic_-_and_dangers_-_of_build_back_better_560308.html

This is why the Democrat Party is so incensed about their Wet Dream bill being shot down..

It was their path to an European-esque socialist haven in American...

Democrats lose... Too bad.. so sad... :D

The Democrat Wet Dream bill, AKA BUILD BACK BROKE is dead...

FINI.... DONE.... DEAD AS A DOOR NAIL... GONE BABY...

Joe Manchin Finally Spikes His $1.8 Trillion Build Back Better Compromise: Washington Post

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin may have put the final nail in the coffin on President Joe Biden’s social spending plan.

The Washington Post reports Manchin has taken his $1.8 trillion compromise proposal off the table. The WaPo cited three unnamed sources in its report.

Manchin previously said he was no longer discussing the bill with the White House.

“I’m really not going to talk about Build Back Better anymore because I think I’ve been very clear on that,” Manchin said earlier this week. “There is no negotiations going on at this time, OK?”

Manchin’s proposal would have included funding for universal pre-K and an additional tax on billionaires. However, the WaPo said, there would be no expanded child tax credit in Manchin’s compromise. The latter was considered potentially becoming permanent, vastly increasing the cost of the original Biden proposal.

Say goodnight gracie... Democrats royally scroo'ed da pooch...

And now Democrats have NOTHING to run on in 2022... :D

The powerful hold probing investigations and organize congressional hearings. The powerless sit with their unanswered prayers at loved ones' funerals and watch their businesses get boarded up again.

The real threat to democracy is an elite class who has shown us they value their pain, their inconvenience, and their lives more than ours. How can they ask us to care about one riotous day last January when every day in cities across America, the lives of the most vulnerable are in danger, their livelihoods threatened?

A powerful overclass apathetic to the concerns of the people they are supposed to represent, and for whom they work, is the real miscarriage of justice they claim as their own.

This is what the Democrats' 8 Jan commission is all about...

I hope they choke on it... And, come Nov 2022 they will, indeed.... CHOKE on it...

{Democrats} do nothing to help us. But while the residents of Minneapolis were trapped inside a burning city, D.C. elites put up rows of barriers and barbed wire to keep people out. When Senator Tom Cotton wrote an op-ed in the New York Times calling for military intervention to restore order, it was condemned and the editor who gave it the green light fired. After the January 6 riot, tellingly referred to by somber-faced journalists as an "insurrection" and "domestic terrorism," the National Guard was stationed in D.C. for months.

The narcissism is just staggering. But it goes much deeper than that. Pitting groups against each other and stoking fear and anger is how our elites—our politicians and journalists among them—keep themselves in power, while average Americans are left with the tragic aftermath.

Again.. I have to wonder how Democrats can sleep at night...

This breathless, week-long commemoration—along with the sacrosanct solemnity with which January 6 is discussed in elite liberal circles—exposes whose lives really matter: the elites in D.C. ivory towers and Manhattan newsrooms. And it exposed whose lives don't.

Minneapolis erupted in violence following the death of George Floyd. There was no law, only disorder. The metro buses were shut down, curfews were in place, grocery stores and drug stores looted and burned. The Third Precinct police station was gutted.

Emphasis mine...

I have to say... I wonder how Democrats can sleep at night..

It's amazing how Democrats try and wrap themselves in the blanket of patriotism and AMERICA FIRST when it serves their political agenda to do so...

It's mind-boggling how Democrats can have the policy of DEFUND, DEMONIZE, DEMORALIZE THE POLICE and then, with a straight face, turn around and lionize and embrace LEOs (but ONLY the LEOs that further their agenda) when their anti-America agenda demands it...

I mean, com'on people.. Can we cease with the crocodile tears??

This breathless, week-long commemoration—along with the sacrosanct solemnity with which January 6 is discussed in elite liberal circles—exposes whose lives really matter: the elites in D.C. ivory towers and Manhattan newsrooms.
Minneapolis erupted in violence following the death of George Floyd. There was no law, only disorder. The metro buses were shut down, curfews were in place, grocery stores and drug stores looted and burned. The Third Precinct police station was gutted.

Emphasis mine...

Democrats Should've Cared When Our Cities Burned...
Liberal Elites Want Us to Care About Jan. 6. But They Don't Care When Our Cities Burn...

Over the spring and summer of 2020, thousands of businesses were looted, damaged, or totally destroyed during the George Floyd protests—especially here, where Floyd was killed. Every day we read heartbreaking stories of business owners begging and pleading with rioters to spare their livelihoods, many of them uninsured, pleas that went unheeded. There was over $2 billion in property damage.

And yet, to follow the mainstream news, you'd be forgiven for thinking the destruction of cities across the country—the decimation of small businesses, many of them owned by lower income people of color—wasn't the biggest story of violence in recent history. That honor, to hear the media tell it, is reserved for an hours-long mobbing of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. The Capitol riot on January 6, 2021 has been the lead story in the liberal mainstream media all week long.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/liberal-elites-want-us-to-care-about-jan-6-but-they-dont-care-when-our-cities-burn-opinion/ar-AASxMEw

Why should any American care about 6 Jan when Democrats couldn't give a flying frak about **TWENTY TWO YEARS** (collectively) of 10x 6 Jan???

If anyone can answer this objectively and factually without any hysterically "OH MY GODS!!! IT WAS THE US CAPITOL!!!! THE SEAT OF OUR DEMOCRACY!!!" emotionalism.....

I will drop the subject...

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for lunch. Liberty is, thanks to the 2nd Amendment, a well armed sheep disputing the outcome of the vote.

heh.. Now THAT's funny... :D

Russ,

Not factually accurate.. There is a PLETHORA of documented facts that PROVE the Democrat/BLM/AntiFa connections..

Would you like to me to link to them??

The biggest of which is Democrats did not condemn the AntiFa riots with anywhere NEAR approaching the level they condemned a single Right Wing riot...

Why would Democrats not condemn the AntiFa riots??

For the same reason that Democrats did not condemn the BLM riots.

Because the goals of BLM and AntiFa and Democrat Party align...

It's the dog that DIDN'T bark that is relevant here..

Russ,

ANY discussion of Oath Keeper "riots" must include a deep dive on the facts regarding Stewart Rhodes...

Considering the facts regarding Rhodes' involvement up to and including 6 Jan, one has to wonder why he is walking around today, a free man...

You have your homework assignment..

I expect facts, not flights of political fancy... :D

Matter of fact, the 1776 Declaration Of Independence was the harbinger of the END of slavery all over the world.. I wish I could find the article I read that proves this. Unfortunately, it was many MANY moons ago and I can't seem to locate it.. But if you doubt the claim, I can certainly find it...

Turns out finding that article is going to be harder than I thought.. But no matter.. There are "oodles" of other facts that show that the US breakaway from British rule set the stage for slavery's demise in the world..

Far from being fought to preserve slavery, the Revolutionary War became a primary disrupter of slavery in the North American Colonies. Lord Dunmore’s Proclamation, a British military strategy designed to unsettle the Southern Colonies by inviting enslaved people to flee to British lines, propelled hundreds of enslaved people off plantations and turned some Southerners to the patriot side. It also led most of the 13 Colonies to arm and employ free and enslaved black people, with the promise of freedom to those who served in their armies. While neither side fully kept its promises, thousands of enslaved people were freed as a result of these policies.

Interesting note from that ATLANTIC article..

But I’ve been disappointed by how often the Democratic response has exacerbated that mistrust by, for example, exaggerating the risks of COVID-19 to children. A low point for me was when Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe inflated child COVID-hospitalization numbers on the campaign trail. It was almost Trumplike. (If I lived in Virginia, I admit I probably would have had to sit out the recent gubernatorial election, in which the Republican candidate beat McAuliffe.)

And THERE is the problem for the Democrat Party...

A *LOT* of Democrats are going to "sit out" elections because they can't bring themselves to vote GOP, but the Democrat Party has broken the trust...

That is why McAwful lost.. And THAT is why Democrats will lose big in Nov...

I keep hoping that Democrats will wake up to the full range of health and social needs Americans are trying to balance right now, but that doesn’t seem likely. A friend now refers to herself as “politically homeless,” and more and more, that’s how I feel as well.

"Politically Homeless"... That's a good one. I bet a LOT of Democrats are politically homeless these days..

Which doesn't bode well for the Democrat Party in November..

CRAP!!!!!

I have always maintained that it's not newsworthy if a Rush Limbaugh crows the Right Wingery line or a Nancy Pelosi spews the Left Wingery line...

But it *IS* worthy of notice if a Rush Limbaugh were to tout the Left Wingery line or a Nancy Pelosi were to shout out the Right Wingery line..

Everyone knows THE ATLANTIC is a bastion of liberal think....

Why I Soured on the Democrats
COVID school policies set me adrift from my tribe.

Until recently, I was a loyal, left-leaning Democrat, and I had been my entire adult life. I was the kind of partisan who registered voters before midterm elections and went to protests. I hated Donald Trump so much that I struggled to be civil to relatives on the other side of the aisle. But because of what my family has gone through during the pandemic, I can’t muster the same enthusiasm. I feel adrift from my tribe and, to a certain degree, disgusted with both parties.

I can’t imagine that I would have arrived here—not a Republican, but questioning my place in the Democratic Party—had my son not been enrolled in public kindergarten in 2020.
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/01/democrats-botched-public-school-covid-policy/621183/

If a die-hard hard-core Democrat has issues with Democrat School Policies, maybe there is something to it, eh??

If ya'all are objective and actually interested in actual back and forth discourse, ya'all have to at least acknowledge the possibility that, when it comes to school policies, the Democrats are wrong...

Biden administration guidance prioritizes race in administering COVID drugs

Hmmmmm... Let's see...

Prioritizing medicine based on race...

Isn't that.. uh... oh I dunno... RACIST!!!...???

Imagine the hysterical uproar from the Left Wingery if President Trump's administration had prioritized medicine based on race..

Democrats would have lost their frakin' minds!!

But if a DEMOCRAT Administration does it... It's perfectly acceptable.. :eyeroll:

1619 project is useful when taught as part of a spectrum of perspectives. If taught out of context, it's the same as any other limited view. It's not fiction, it's the same set of facts as before, just looked at through a very different lens. If we teach it in addition to the traditional views, it's valuable. If we teach it instead of them, we're just replacing one bias with another.

Once again, I have to disagree..

1619 is NOT facts viewed from a different perspective..

America was founded as a “slavocracy” in 1619 and “anti-black racism runs in the very DNA of this country.”

Americans declared their independence from Britain to protect the institution of slavery.

Half of antebellum U.S. GDP came from slavery and cotton production.

Southern planters and slave owners were champions of capitalism. Abraham Lincoln wanted to move freed slaves to colonies because he was a racist.

None of this is remotely true.
https://www.aier.org/article/debunking-the-1619-project/

Those are blatant lies that The 1619 Project claims as fact..

This one especially...

Americans declared their independence from Britain to protect the institution of slavery.

A blatant lie that is easily disproven...

There are OODLES (it's an industry term.. :D) of facts from objective historians that prove beyond any doubt that The 1619 Project is nothing but lie upon lie....

Oh sure, it's based on historical fact.. So is the bible..

But both are simply twisting the facts of history to achieve an ulterior goal...

Ideological control of the masses...

Russ,

Always a pleasure to deal with actual comments from someone who obviously IS interested in actual back and forth discussions..

You are comparing the failed insurrection that the GOP was behind to “22 years (collectively) of Democrat BLM and AntiFa riots”; yet there is nothing that connects the Democrats to either group.

Not factually accurate.. There is a PLETHORA of documented facts that PROVE the Democrat/BLM/AntiFa connections..

Would you like to me to link to them??

Seeing how BLM didn’t get started until 2013,

Yes. BLM riots and attacks started in Jul of 2013 in the aftermath of the justified Trayvon Martin shooting... That's 8+ years ago..

Did I ever tell you that George Zimmerman is a personal friend of mine??

and most of “AntiFa’s” alleged attacks somehow only served to give free PR to D-List Right Wingers who were doing book promotion tours.

Not factually accurate.. AntiFa and Democrat policies align.. And AntiFa began in 2007 with Rose City AntiFa in Portland.. That's 14+ years ago...

Now, I know Democrats believe that "math is racist" :epic eyeroll: but 8 years + 14 years equals, collectively, 22 years...

You see how that works???

But if you are going to do that, then where are all of the GOP’s violent Proud Boy and Oath Keeper protests, the white nationalist and Neo-Nazi riots, or the pro-life attacks on abortion clinics in your stats?

Tell ya what.. I'll accept all but the pro-life as that is a whole 'nother subject..

You research and find me every Proud Boy, Oath Keeper, White Nationalist and Neo Nazi *riot* and we will compare that to every BLM and AntiFa riot...

We will need to set a time frame, as I am sure you don't want me to go back to all the Democrat/Weatherman/Black Panther riots and attacks of the 60s, eh? Or even FURTHER back to Democrat Party/KKK/Jim Crow violence.. Yer Democrats wouldn't look too good if we did that, huh?? :D

So, let's limit the time frame to the last 21 years.. The year 2000....

I'll look for your facts... No hurry.. I'll be around.. :D

JL,

@75-76: whether parents, teachers or principals, most people are kinda morons. I don't think it helps to involve parents in curriculum unless they have something intelligent to contribute. Some do, most don't.

OK... Fair point.. I disagree but we can delve into that later..

Let me ask you THIS...

Even if you don't agree that parents should have some input (to whatever degree you believe) how wise do you think it is to actually invoke the Patriot Act and give parents' who DO want to be in their children's education the same treatment that domestic terrorists are given??

I am just looking for some common ground here...

Find out where we both are on this subject and then go from there...

Perhaps they used to, but not remotely close to it since I started hanging around down here. So what's the point of even trying, Elizabeth? And once again, I am in MC's head.. :D

He simply can't NOT post about me.. :D

It's a push-shove world, but there's always a chance
If the hunger stays the night

He's a maniac, maniac on the floor
And he's dancing like he's never danced before

On the ice-blue line of insanity is a place most never see
It's a hard-won place of mystery touch it, but can't hold it

Liz,

Man, it's nice to have ya back but, Geez Louise!

It's impossible for me to even carry on a conversation with you in any small effort to change your mind on anything when you throw so much at me.

Fair enough... It's just when I see the trolls make so many personal attacks, I just gotta rub their noses in it.. :D

It's funny.. If they would actually cease with the personal attacks and make an attempt to carry on a dialogue, which is what they CLAIM they want, I would be so engaged with them that I wouldn't have time to find all these fascinating topics to discuss..

But here is what you can do.. Simply peruse my comments, find one that interests you, respond to that and then we can stay on topic for that subject..

Although I just caught a glimpse of it, I think that's what JL did above. He picked the 1619 project comment and we're going to explore that more fully.. :D

Easy peezy lemon squeezy.. :D

There was a time not too terribly long ago, when the number of comments mattered. But, I understand, you don't like this blog anymore??

Weigantia(™michale) will always hold a special place in my heart.. A world that I helped create..

I simply hate what it's became due to the Trump/America haters and bigots...
