The more pertinent question is, "Why is Christmas celebrated at all?", and the answer is, "Because humans need religion", but that raises the question, "Why do humans need religion?", and the answer to that is, when they look up at the sky, they see that the sun and the moon and the stars obviously all rotate around the earth, leading to the conclusion that the earths is obviously the center of the universe.

And if the earth is the center of the universe, it must be a really damn important place, and God must have had serious involvement it its placement.

Of course, turns out there are flaws in this reasoning, but by the time we discovered those flaws, only very recently as history goes, it was too late, and we just can't bring ourselves to admit we were wrong!

It does not look good for Basement Biden and the Democrats..

Biden’s approval dips to new low as independents sour on his leadership
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/tag/marist-poll

Biden standing amongst Independents and NPAs fell 8 points!!! in just a single week..

Biden's disapproval ratings have gone *UP* 20 points!!!.. Those who STRONGLY DISAPPROVE has gone *UP* 6 points!!

Even amongst Democrats, Biden's disapproval has gone up 7 points..

No matter how you slice it, the depths of Basement Biden's popularity seems to know no bottom..

And Horizontal Harris?? She has worse disapproval ratings than Dick Cheney!! I mean, honestly.. Imagine how BAD you have to be to be considered worse than Dick Cheney!!!

Now.. Just think about this.. If President Trump had won, as he should have, Democrats wouldn't be so... so.. DEEP in depression and angst right now..

If President Trump had won, this country would be doing great and Democrats would be fighting mad and hating on everyone and everything that disagreed with them... And they would be HAPPY to wallow in their hate...

Instead, Democrats are deep in the grips of depression and dreading what bigger pitfalls are in the future and how bad things are going to be in Nov of 2022..

Which proves the age old adage beyond all doubt...

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

Ya'all have a GREAT day!!! :D

If I remember, it wasn't Julius Caesar who figured out that a leap year was needed to account for the 365-1/4 day length of the year. The Egyptians had actually figured that out themselves while the Romans were still figuring out how to nurse human babies from a wolf's teat.

Caesar had been to Egypt, and what was left over from the executive time he spent with the Queen, he used to get expert advice from skilled priests about a better calendar than the Romans then used. (Don't ask! ... OK, it involved both lunar and solar cycles, and all missing or extra days needed to keep in line with the actual sun were handled by declaring them holidays, on a year by year basis.)

He returned to Rome, instituted the Egyptians' calendar that actually worked no matter what year it was, and then stupidly stuck to his new system by ignoring a soothsayer's warning to beware the Ides of March. The 'Ides' (mid-month day) was from the old Roman calendar that he'd just abolished, so naturally he dismissed the primitive fellow's ravings. As he lived, so he died -- by an over-zealous attendance to his "Julian" calendar!
