Small states with more power per voter are easily taken over by corporate interests and the just plain wealthy. This is a reversion to our planter roots….which were not exactly egalitarian. As a practical matter, large states may decide it makes sense to Balkanize…or at least threaten to do so in order to get better terms. Any US state with a coastline is potentially viable as an independent nation. All others - no so much.
