I grew up in a little steel mill town on the Ohio River in western PA. I worked in the mill to earn money for college. There are a lot of boarded up main streets in those towns these days. Dang those Georgia "raw votes" and statistics are off the charts... up +21.6 turnout! That's insane! Stacey Abrams is kicking ass; I hope she can work her magic for the runoffs in January, but that is going to be one heavy lift in a head-to-head contest in Georgia.

The good news is the Blue shift in 40+ states nationwide. If I was Susan Collins in a state shifting more Blue, I'd consider making myself an Independent who caucuses with the Democrats. Sue should be concerned that her Party is full of a shit-ton of QAnon conspiracy nuts and getting crazier by the day. Heh.

I'll give it a go on at least two of your issues:

1) Even Biden admits now that what he did on the crime bill was a mistake, and that criminal justice reform will be a top priority of his administration. Plus, with so many states now legalizing marijuana, A lot of the racial disparity regarding drugs and incarceration will now start to ameliorate.

2) Another top goal of Biden's will be improving and expanding the ACA, especially with a public option which should have been included in the first place. If people are allowed to choose a public option, then health insurance tied to employment may simply whither away and die a natural death all on its own accord.

as far as i know, nobody has suggested ravitch as edsec who isn't a teacher. but jill IS a teacher, so who knows...
