Glam rock-ish. Yes, that's it. That's PRiSM, Ron Tabak Era!

Parallel 49 loves their Canadian rock bands - they're all kind of Glam Rock-ish. :)

I'll check your link after I grab some dinner ...

That's too bad. Because, I've heard a lot of 'tribute bands' but none as uncannily true to the originals as Parallel 49.

This Thunder Bay band covers classis rock tunes like none other. Here they are covering Sweeney Todd's Roxy Roller,

<i>The Yinzers would be unhappy with you. Pittsburgh ends with a G.</i>

Sheeeeee-it! I knew that. I listen to that station a lot, especially Court's in Session, where new songs from classic artists are featured every Thursday night!

As much as we are all longing to enjoy live music again, the men and women of Crew Nation are suffering through this pandemic. Without them, we would never see the live shows we love.

There have been a few virtual events lately to benefit Crew Nation and keep them going until live events are a thing again. This one is called Six String Salute. Don't miss the fun bit about Van Halen's Jump in Houston ...

This is the reverse of a new song by an old band.

It's an old song by a great current Canadian band out of Thunder Bay, Ontario, close to the Minnesota border - they are <b>Parallel 49</b> and their motto is <b>United We Rock</b>! You will be hearing much more from them as they have become a new favourite of mine. :)

Here they are with a Summer of 2020 release of an old favourite by PRiSM - Ron Tabak Era ...

Take Me To The Kaptin:

It is unbelievably uncanny - they sound just like Prism and Ron Tabak. Well, it's almost like having the old Prism back with us!

A little soon to say ... maybe.

Maybe it's just time for us to act and stop all of the wondering when it'll be alright.

Don't tell us what we can't do and why. We want to know what we can do and how.

I want to get back to live music, now.

There are ways to get it done.

Here’s a song from Jackson Browne’s upcoming album (spring 2021). It was inspired by young activists like Greta Thunberg, the Parkland kids, and BLM.

My favourite classic artists are - wait for it - PRiSM.

And, Al Harlow is an honourary original member of the band (bass guitar, vocals, songwriting duties). He has just put the finishing touches on his new solo album and the newly released single is 'Let It Go!' ...

It has been getting some decent airplay in the US - WRCT 83.3FM in Pittsburg but haven't heard it in my neck of the woods yet. Come on, Canada!

<b>Florida Man Commits Lots Of Crime And Contemplates Fleeing To Russia</B>

At his death cult meeting on Friday, the orange one asked the zombies "Could you imagine if I lose?” then added “My whole life, what am I going to do? I’m going to say, I lost to the worst candidate in the history of politics. I’m not going to feel so good. Maybe I’ll have to leave the country."

Now is the time to start planning for what comes next. Come January when the Dems have all three branches, they can pass what ever they want but the Repugs have the courts and you can be sure they will sue over every single piece of legislation they pass. Not to worry up you say, for eventually most of the new laws will be upheld and all that effort will be for for naught. Well, not quite, for the Dems only have a two year window to pass and IMPLEMENT laws that will make the lives of ordinary Americans better. Come the mid terms the Repugs will be complaining that the Dems can't do anything and when asked if the voters lives are better than they were under Trump, the honest answer will be NO. This will be persuasive for enough voters to turn over the Congress to the Repugs. The other big problem in implementing the new democratic programs is the enormous hollowing out of the Federal agencies by Trump, many, many worker bees have retired or quit in disgust. Biden will need to hire and train thousands. Doing this in the civil service system is a daunting task in normal times. Just the USPS and the IRS alone are short many tens of thousands of staff. I don't have any solutions to this but I sure as hell hope some very smart people are starting to think about it.

Regardless of whether or not you think she should have so warmly embraced - literally - the Senator from South Carolina, it would be hypocritical to excoriate Feinstein while lauding Biden.</i>

Another way to look at Dianne Feinstein's apparent kowtow might be as the final dampening of GOP senate counter-outrage.

The Democrats were expected to drag religion in all a cudjel, but never really hovered on it. That would have stoked the GOP base. I think Feinstein realised there was nothing that could be done so why give the GOP any ammo in the election...

In hindsight when this is all over, perhaps she might just get mention in the good for pissing on any fire the GOP wanted light after a contentious hearing.

hmm?

One of my Trump buddy is resigned to a Biden Presidency(!) After I picked myself up off the floor he said he'd not abandon America but that he'd do his best under Socialism.

I didn't have the heart to remind him that the word "Social" is the first word on the check that he's going to collect for the rest of his life.

Critical "talking points", that each candidate for U S Senate MUST emphasize in the next two weeks:
All of the bills that the Democratically-controlled House of Representatives have approved in the past 2 years that Sen. McConnell has pronounced DOA. Control of the U S Senate will be determined on 3 November and, should the Democrats obtain a majority, Sen McConnell will no longer be able to block legislation.
They must also highlight that we will soon have a 6-3 "originalist" majority on the Supreme Court because McConnell and the Republicans blocked President Obama's appointee from even having a hearing. Do they want the same for President Biden's nominees in 2021?

They must also highlight that we will soon have a 6-3 "originalist" majority on the Supreme Court because McConnell and the Republicans blocked President Obama's appointee from even having a hearing. Do they want the same for President Biden's nominees in 2021?

As for Sen. Feinstein as MDDOW, I completely agree; I'm relieved that you awarded it for being maskless and NOT for gushing over "Lady G" about the civility of the hearings.
Regardless of whether or not you think she should have so warmly embraced - literally - the Senator from South Carolina, it would be hypocritical to excoriate Feinstein while lauding Biden.

And finally, a "group award" for MIDOW:
The Democrats in "The Villages", who have replaced "soccer Moms" as the barometer of political support in 2020 - at least according to the popular press.
'Branscome’s cart was festooned with two American flags that flapped in the warm afternoon breeze. A line of oncoming carts bedecked with balloons and patriotic streamers chugged past while honking. Branscome jabbed her left foot on the horn pedal, then gave a thumbs-up.

“This gets you rejuvenated and ready for the next month or so, so we can do this and win. It gives you hope,” the 60-year-old retiree said.

Then she let out a whoop and two surprising words: “Go Biden!”'

Another nomineed for MIDOW:
Candidate for U S Senate in Iowa, Theresa Greenfield, who showed up well-prepared to a recent debate.
'Greenfield correctly answered a question about the “break-even” price of corn — it’s going for about $3.68 per bushel, she said, and at that price, there might be some farmers who are meeting their production costs. Then the moderator asked Ernst a similar question about the break-even price of soybeans. Ernst answered $5.50, well below the actual price of $10.05. She then complained to the moderator that Greenfield had not been posed the same question.'

Another nominee for MIDOW:
Wolf Blitzer was shocked that Rep Pelosi was having none of it.
'“What I say to you is, I don’t know why you’re always an apologist and many of your colleagues are apologists for the Republican position,” Pelosi replied.'
He meekly attempted to defend his clearly corporate-friendly talking points, as though he's suddenly a defender of the little guy:
'Blitzer pointed out that millions of Americans have lost their jobs, are struggling with food and rent, and need support now.'

Another nominee for MIDOW:
Kamala Harris was in fine form during the Senate hearings. Her "introductory remarks" are well worth highlighting, as she cautioned the American people about whats a stake.
'Republicans finally realized the ACA is too popular to repeal in Congress, so now they are trying to bypass the will of voters and have the Supreme Court do their dirty work.

That's why President Trump promised to only nominate judges who will get rid of the Affordable Care Act.

This administration, with the support of Senate Republicans, will be in front of the Supreme Court on November 10th to argue that the entire Affordable Care Act should be struck down.'

I have several alternate nominees for MIDOW:
Joe Biden certainly deserves the award. As you described in the introduction, his composure, nuanced and substantive responses, and the clear contrast with the 'Stable Genius' in the competing town hall are all worthy of recognition.

I am mystified by the MIDOW, Sen Whitehouse. Even if his 'vaguely ominous' statement is noticed, it will not "move the needle" with the American voter, any more than your parents warning you about eating too much candy will change your behavior on Halloween.

@cw,

<i>"What the Republicans have done to the reputation and integrity of the court through these last three nominations leaves a tarnish on the court that I don't think the court can bear," Whitehouse said.</i>

very well said, although i would say, the last FOUR supreme court nominations, since the subverted nomination of merrick garland should still be part of the narrative.

i.e. it's not just "because we can," it's also "because if we can, we will, after hypocritically forcing you not to"

and then...

<b>What can you say about Justice Ginsburg? She was confirmed 96 to three. Now, those were days that have since passed. I regret that. 96 to three. Now, this was a person who worked for the ACLU, someone who was known in progressive circles as an icon. Apparently, just about every Republican voted for her. Her good friend on the court, Justice Scalia, I think got 97 votes. I don’t know what happened between then and now
~Lindsey Graham</b>

this is a level of mendacity that i can't even come up with a sufficiently pointed analogy to describe, other than to call it trumpian.

The smartest thing the GOP did was setting term limits on Committee Chairs. It's led to some retirements, but it's elevated the next generations.

Members of the GOP may not "look like America" in terms of many characteristics, but their party, and especially their leadership, looks a lot more like us age-wise than do Dems.

Chris,

<i>Seriously, this is Politics 101, but Biden still hasn't come up with a way to punt the question [of court packing].</i>

Seriously, I don't get it.

This particular area of expertise is right in Biden's wheelhouse for crying out loud as longtime chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee not to mention constitutional law professor for heaven's sake ... ?

Sen. Whitehouse isn't running for president, so his approach isn't necessarily best for Biden. I assume Biden is ignoring the Court-blocking question, or rather tieing it up in rhetorical knots, because at this point he's running out the clock.
I hope he's spending his time more profitably, either nailing down a few more swing states or lawyering up for the nonsense the GOP is going to pull starting on Election Day.
