I wholeheartedly agree with Elizabeth Miller on the subject of the mine but then we are fortunate to live in countries where owners are legally responsible for the property they own.

In both Canada and Australia, the deadbeat San Juan Corporation would be on trial for polluting the environment and they would have to oversee and pay for the clean-up.

Also in Australia, all mining ventures have to set aside a certain amount of funds to return the area mined back to the equivalent of its natural habitat when the mine is finished with.

Why Americans would tolerate being poisoned rather than insisting corporations take responsibility for the condition and impact of their property and activity, is beyond comprehension. Do any of you have any concept of responsibility?

Oh and Michale, I think of it as Nixon's EPA. He put it in place.

Bashi,

To the best of my knowledge, you are the only gamer around here..

Have you tried BATTLEFIELD HARDLINE yet???

I have to say, I was pretty pumped after playing the first few minutes.. The game plays like a TV show, with a "PREVIOUSLY ON HARDLINE" when you first start the game and a "NEXT TIME ON HARDLINE" when you quit.. :D It's pretty frakin' kewl...

But the game mechanics are sub-par compared to, say the COD series... At first I tried to play it like a real cop and do things that real cops do, but I got killed way to often... So, it just became a RUN AND GUN type affair..

Once I got that mind-set, the game was more enjoyable..

You should check it out, if you haven't already...

Since we seem to be all over the spectacle of the GOP debates, I am curious as to ya'all's thoughts regarding the Democrat Debate schedule..

What do ya'all think about O'Malley & Sanders conspiring to have more debates in violation of the DNC rules??

Do ya'all think that more debates on the Dem side would be better??

Enquiring minds want to know.. :D

It's not much worse than what Bill Clinton said about Barack Obama...

"A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags"

Scratch that...

It's not even in the same ball park as what Bill Clinton said about Barack Obama in the 2008 Dem Primary...

Clinton's comment was much MUCH worse...

Am I wrong??

Things are a bit unsettled over on the Democratic side of things as well. Hillary Clinton's emails are going to provide a steady drip, drip, drip for months to come. We already knew this, but each time it hits the headlines must be taking a toll on her campaign.

Can you say "WATERGATE"?? :D

In the "Trump fighting with other Republican candidate" news, we have an amusing quote from Lindsey Graham: "Donald Trump is an out-of-control car driving through a crowd of Republicans, and somebody needs to get him out of the car. I just don't see a pathway forward for us in 2016 to win the White House if we don't decisively deal with this." Hoo boy. That's bad enough,

It's not much worse than what Bill Clinton said about Barack Obama...

"A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags"

NOTHING to date matches the Democrat on Democrat violence of the 2008 Dem Primary...

I'm just sayin'.....

Strictly from a body count POV, Bin Laden was a rank amateur compared to Hussein..

and also by insisting that "taking out Saddam Hussein turned out to be a pretty good deal." A pretty good deal? Really? Wow.

So... Leaving Saddam in power to rape and pillage and rape and murder and rape... Did I mention rape??

That was the "better" deal??

Wow... :D

I am also constrained to point out that, if Bush's EPA had done this.....

O M G the hysterical shrieks from the Left would have been earth-shattering....

It's to CW's credit that he calls out Obama's EPA without regard to Party partisanship..

CW, yer becoming another Glenn Greenwald! Kudos :D

And, who gets blamed for the mess and takes responsibility for it ... why, the EPA, of course ...

Of course..

To hear the Hysterical Left tell it, that sort of behavior is to be expected from war-mongering, environment-destroying, virgin-sacrificing, money-grubbing, satanic, evil (did I miss any??) corporations..

It's NOT what one would expect from Obama's EPA....

Put another way...

If one is going to gross and whine and bitch and moan about the criminal negligence or incompetence of corporations....

One better make damn sure their competence ducks are in a row...

Am I wrong??

No other candidate (to our knowledge) has managed an audience that has even topped the 10,000 mark yet.

This cycle, that is. There is precedent for Hillary Clinton's primary opponent drawing large crowds:

In February, Mr. Obama drew 20,000 people to the Town Lake in Austin, Texas. In March, 10,000 people crowded into a plaza outside City Hall in Oakland, Calif. In April, he attracted 20,000 at an outdoor rally at Yellow Jacket Park in Atlanta.

And tonight, he drew what the campaign said was 24,000 people to Washington Square Park.

If Colonel Trump ever does move to KY and makes a run for the senate, i hope he campaigns in a Colonel Sanders Suit, which is very classy. I also hope he takes diction lessons from Foghorn Leghorn....."Ah say, ah say Mr. Paul, may Ah play through?"

The EPA was in the midst of investigating an abandoned mine called the Gold King, according to the New York Times. An inactive mine since the 1920's, it was leaking 50-250 gallons of toxic water for years. The EPA was trying to find the source of these leaks when the dam holding back the toxic mine waste was inadvertently breached.

Much of the wrath being heaped on the EPA is coming from those who are ideologically opposed to the existence of the EPA. But, as former Senator Gary Hart asks in his blog, Matters of Principle, what about the responsibility of the original owners and operators of the mine and the current owners, the San Juan Corporation which, according to Hart, "retains its anonymity and refuses to accept any responsiblity".

There are an estimated half a million abandoned mines throughout the United States and no corporate responsiblity in sight. And, if some politicians had their way, there would be no national environmental protections, either.

As Hart concludes, "if the original owners of the Gold King mine (when gold was king, as it still is) had done their job, and the current owners the San Juan Corporation had done their job, there would have been no massive and toxic mine tailings pond for the EPA to try to clean up—by the way, at national taxpayers expense."

It may have been more appropriate to award the San Juan Corporation with some sort of destroyer of the environment award than a MDDOTW award to the head of the EPA. I'm just sayin' ...

“Carly was a little nasty to me. Be careful, Carly. Be careful. But actually, I can’t say anything to her because she’s a woman and I don’t want to be accused of being tough on women. I promised I wouldn’t say that she ran Hewlett Packard into the ground. I said I would not say it. That her stock value tanked. That she laid off tens of thousands of people and she got viciously fired. I said I would not say it. And that she then went out and ran against Barbara Boxer for senator of California, and it’s a race that should have been won and she lost in a landslide, and I said, I will not say that, OK? So I’m not going to say it.” - Trump
