OMG!

I think I just heard Geoffrey Peterson on the TV doing voice over for a reverse mortgage commercial. I'm glad old "salty bone" has found work. At first I thought it was Morgan Freeman, but he's too busy hosting Wormhole.

CW Cares (heh, heh).

I hadn't really picked up on Craig's show in 2008, so this monolog was new to me. There's never been any like his monologs on talk TV - long, stream of conscious rants, absurdist, deconstructive, take your pick.

My mom, noted insomniac, with a writ to call her grown children at any hour, regardless of time zone, turned me on to the CF Show. She adored Sid. She adored all the puppets and Secretariat, and appreciated the change of seasons in the paddock. She thought Craig was a very good dancer. The rest of the show mostly mystified her. She didn't like Geoff - but then again she didn't like shady, evasive people so this made sense. She didn't mind cursing (good thing, my father could and did curse fluently in several languages) but did object to Craig "pretending to be gay." "It's just British humor mom." "No it's not." References to Lesbian Row didn't seem to bother her....I think she might have thought it was a real thing (Lesbians get in half price?!) She didn't like Craig alluding to past drug, alcohol and general carrying on. She suspected impressionable preteens were watching. I used to sneak out and watch Carson at low,low volume as a kid, so again, this sort of made sense.

To me, Craig's Late Night was a Pee Wee Herman Show for adults, same basic engine, but with no governor, a tighter suspension and grippier tires. Cheap, but snappy, and likely to get you pulled over if you drove it in the wrong neighborhood. I had a motorcycle like that once...I had to tutsi-frutsi the tuned exhaust within city limits, but it was glorious. My racist wife made me sell it when I moved into the prime time of my life.

There seems to be some chance of Craig coming back to (cable?) TV.... with Geoff, best sidekick ever!
"You go where I go." said Craig. I hold him to that. Hang in Geoff. Stay strong. Don't let the racists get you down. Work that new arm! See if you can get on Price Is Right. (Is that still on)?

(except for the clip of Drew Barrymore flashing her boobs, of course)

Whoa what's that now???

The only time I ever caught a late night show was when Johnny Carson was doing it and I was on patrol working the mid-shift at Vandenberg AFB..

Seriosuly, yer talking to a guy that "staying up late" means in bed by 2000hrs... :D

Having said that, the commentary was very informative and enjoyable..

OK, because I kind of "played hooky" today, I have gone back and answered a bunch of comments from this week's articles, so go check them out.

Sorry I've been lax on this front, I'll do better next week, promise!
