Oh yes - and I think I've commented about it around these parts. Uses some of the same "rhetorical" tricks too! Tail Gunner Cruz?

So let's see, what did each do after their introductory speech? Obama became a US Senator.

If I recall, wasn't he already a senator??

Carson... um... gave some more speeches. See the difference?

I think Carson went on being a doctor and saved lives...

Yea, I see the difference. Carson is a MUCH better person.. :D

Maybe, but I did like Damon's other "typo" suggestion! Heh...

Yea, that was pretty good.. :D

JFC -

Yeah, I see some resemblance about the nose, hairline and jowls. I was drawn towards the Spacey comparison due to my recent binging of House of Cards.. Nixon could do a pretty decent King Richard. ......my, horse, my horse, my kingdom for a horse.......Henry, get me a goddamned horse! TheStig can still do a pretty righteous Nixon, but the jowl effect gives me a headache and is probably killing neurons.

Michale [4] -

As for "big state," I count by population and Electoral College votes. By that measure, Massachusetts is at least medium-big...

So let's see, what did each do after their introductory speech? Obama became a US Senator. Carson... um... gave some more speeches. See the difference?

Heh.

TheStig [8] -

I made a promise to myself at the beginning of the campaign season, and that was to write one introductory article for each candidate that got in the race (GOP or Dem) which wasn't just pure snark (time enough for that, later). It's a serious thing (or should be) to run for president, so I wanted to at least take each candidate seriously once.

Of course, I will break that promise if Donald Trump runs, needless to say. Heh. I mean, I'm only human....

In any case, I wanted to give Fiorina and Carson a decent rundown, even though for Fiorina it was tough to do (that "vanity candidate" just seemed to slip in there... ahem).

Oh, nice use of "clade" -- had to look that one up!

Good point about Huckabee and the individual state polls. I'll have to look at the GOP primary calendar to see which states Huck has any chance of winning in the early rounds, versus which states vote later.

Kevin Spacey? I dunno. But Ted Cruz looks eerily like Joe McCarthy, don't you think? Heh.

Michale [14] -

Maybe, but I did like Damon's other "typo" suggestion! Heh...

OK, that's it for now. New Obama Poll Watch column up, so go check that out, too.

Newsflash for him... The country did that in 2008...

And NOW the country is in a total mess because of it..

To HuffingtonPost commenter Damon Lewis -

Mea culpa. I've fixed the misspelling of Carson's name here, but don't think I can fix it over on HuffPost. Thanks for pointing it out.

As for the other "typo"... heh. :-)

An aside: isn't Miskatonic U. the one with the most awesome library on the occult? Seems that name sounds familiar...

One final thing. Does anybody else think Huckabee looks a lot like Kevin Spacey?

Maybe it's the hair, but I always thought he looked like an aged John Travolta...

OK, scratch that... I must have been looking at old pics of Huckabee...

Yea, I can definitely see the Spacey resemblance....

Fiorina and Carson both got several more paragraphs than they really deserved.

Fiorina: executive expertise that got her sacked is perfectly suited to being Chief Executive of the USA. Put her in the Trump political clade.

Carson: black man who will say anything to attract attention from white Republicans. Put him in the Herman Cain clade.

Huckabee is a genuine player, especially in the primaries, quite possibly as a spoiler for Jeb. As far as winning the Presidency goes, it's not simply a question of "whether he's polling better or worse than the other Republicans against Hillary Clinton." Most of the electoral map is a foregone conclusion. The question is: could nominee Huckabee out-poll Clinton in enough of the dozen or so genuinely-to somewhat-competitive states to reach 270 EV...and can he do so after he's done what needs to be done to win the Republican base that decides the primaries? Can he cross the urban/rural divide? I think there are plausible paths to victory for Huck, but nearly everything has to break his way, including Hillary's performance (or lack of).

The easiest way to understand the fundamentals of 2016 is that it's Hillary's to lose. I'm not sure fundamentalists can be flexible enough to successfully dig a hole and than find a ladder to climb out. "All" (heh, heh) Hillary has to do is make sure her ladder doesn't break.

Huckabilly: Beyoncé's music is toxic mental poison.

Huckabilly: Ted Nugent's raunchy sex songs are suitable for my "band" to play on my Fox Noise program.

One of these musicians is black and female. Can you guess which one?

The base is gonna love Huckabilly/Nugent 2016.

Think what you want of Bush and Romney, but each had been governor of a big state before their White House runs.

Well, Bush was anyways.. :D

Carson's claim to fame (among Republican primary voters) is that he told off the president, once, right to his face. Yep, that's pretty much it.

Let's be fair here..

Obama's only claim to fame was that he gave a good speech at a 2004 DNC shindig...

I'm just sayin'....

But Huckabee's the only one of the bunch who is actually an ordained minister, so you've got to see that as an edge in this particular demographic contest.

Yea, well so is Al Sharpton (I think).. Not really a point in his favor...

A sad day, indeed...

Indeed...

The GOP loves their identity politics and it will be fun to watch as the RNC tries to limit the clown car at the debates. I hope they don't try to exclude the only (fake) black candidate or the only (fake) female candidate or the (fake) hispanic candidate. Everyone with a sugar daddy should be considered viable despite their embarrassingly vile pandering to the haters and low poll numbers.

Didn't really fit in the article, but a rather sad Star Wars Day this year ("May the 4th be with you!") as we note the passing of one of the immortals in a different universe.

Requiescat In Pace, Grace Lee Whitney, a.k.a. Yeoman Janice Rand.

The blonde beehive to end all blonde beehives...

A sad day, indeed...
