So whenever we do get a decent storm (instead of 30 days of constant drizzle), it becomes a BIG NATIONAL STORY!!!

So, is it safe to assume that the drought is over in CA?? :D

I spent close to 15 years in the Pacific Northwest... Dull gray dreary days to be sure.. But I never saw what a real STORM was until I moved to Florida..

LizM and Michale - Man, are you two having some sort of love-fest, or what?!? Heh. Here's my history: I'm an East-Coast boy, who moved to Californ-iii-ay and thus was relegated to experiencing boring weather. I mean, seriously, they don't even have WINTER out here! WTF??? I went outside to get my morning paper today in a T-shirt and shorts. Not to rub it in, or anything. It was chilly, I will admit, but I wasn't shivering uncontrollably when I came in or anything. I arrived in CA my first time in January. It was freakin' bizarre -- the hills were all covered in green, when I had left everything in shades of brown or grey. In the middle of the winter!!! But what you give up when you accept California "climate" in lieu of "weather" is anything remotely dramatic. Californians have no concept of snow, rain (both VERY dangerous on the roads, when Californians attempt to drive in these conditions), and most importantly dramatic storms. Believe it or not: a good lightning storm (about a once-in-five-years occurrence) will bring everyone out to their front doors, because they've never seen such a thing before (I am not exaggerating, here, I'll have you know). An electrical transformer blew up in my neighborhood, and I was the only one who knew immediately what had happened -- "struck by lightning, obviously" I kept telling everyone. They were shocked and amazed at the very concept. So whenever we do get a decent storm (instead of 30 days of constant drizzle), it becomes a BIG NATIONAL STORY!!! ... or was that reading by flashlight? I stand corrected ... it was reading by flashlight that was not recommended.

Reading by candlelight is fine, too.

I am the same way, Liz..

I LOVE heavy thunderstorms...

And, if the power goes out, the wife and I get a roaring fire and read by firelight..

Heaven.. Pure unadulterated heaven... :D

It has been a very, very long time since there has been a powerful storm in my neck of the woods.

I've always liked storms - they provide an opportunity for relaxation with a glass of wine - or, whatever - in candlelight and a chance to escape from our busy routines.

Enjoy the storm ... and, of course, I'm hoping you don't experience any harmful effects ... well, you know what I mean. :)
