OK, now Cruz/Haley I could see...

LizM -

First on that list would be suffering the laughter and scorn of the other 49 states, nightly, broadcast on all the late night shows.

Chris,

I remember when people used to figure out how many dollars-per-word AS made in his early movies (Conan, in particular), so I can certainly relate. I suffered [my emphasis] under his two terms, out here in CA, so I can laugh at it now...

How so?

"GOP -- Cruz/Rice 2016!"

Actually, Condi is too GOP-E. I'm thinking that Terd Cruz will want a game changer. He'll pick a somewhat unknown governor - Nikki Haley.

Nope. One word: filibuster.

If the GOP owns the Senate, they can just change the rules to negate the effectiveness of the filibuster.

And, of course, ya'all will be PERFECTLY ok with that, right?? :D

You are absolutely 100% right -- political parties were never part of the Constitution, and George Washington was actually disgusted with the very concept.

As I am.... :D

Michale [1] -

This will depend on how badly Democrats do in the Senate in the upcoming midterms, don'tcha think??

Nope. One word: filibuster.

So, while Dems may reap the whirlwind of minting millions of fresh new Dem voters, they may push black Americans into the arms of the Republican Party...

Wouldn't THAT be totally ironic, eh??

Yeah, it would. But it's never in a million, billion years going to happen. Dream on...

John From Censornati -

So, in other words, you're predicting:

"GOP -- Cruz/Rice 2016!"

???

You could get pretty good odds in Vegas for that, right now, I bet...

:-)

TheStig [5] -

I don't count Arnold Schwarzenegger as a real actor, even though I enjoy many of his movies.

BWAH Hah hah!

Now THAT was funny! I remember when people used to figure out how many dollars-per-word AS made in his early movies (Conan, in particular), so I can certainly relate. I suffered under his two terms, out here in CA, so I can laugh at it now...

Michale [6] -

I thought it was hilarious, in one of the later Terminator flicks, although this could have been in the "bonus clips" -- can't say I remember now -- that the scientist who was responsble for creating the original AS termintor was addressed by one of the military guys:

"Why did you give him the accent?"

[Scientist responds, in exactly the same accent as Arnie]: "Vot accent? Vot are you talkink about?"

Heh.

[10] -

Ding! Ding! Ding! We HAVE a WINNER!!!

If and when we ever get a comprehensive immigration bill, I surely hope that corporations are addressed because they're people too. I’ve noticed that the snarling nativists howl incessantly about BHO’s “magnet” policies, but they’re awfully quiet about employer magnets. Why do employers get amnesty for their illegal acts?

He’ll send the taxpayers a bill so he can station the TX National Guard on the border to protect the Real Amurikkkans from frightened children in detention centers. That sounds a lot like they’re not going to do anything and get paid for not doing it. Don’t tread on me.

Re 8

Our Constitutional system of electing national officials pretty much guarantees a Party Dogma Prism in the 21st Century USA. For that matter, the Prism was up and running at very nearly the beginning of the Republic. One of those unintended consequences, but you might as well rail against the tides. As a practical matter, we are stuck with it, because organized politics wins.

Have not seen Sabotage, I usually see big screen action movies in the bad weather months, which in my locale is 6 mos long, but not now.

Re 5, and the concept of "pragmatic acceptance" is the related "Mr. Micawber Principle," the hope that "something will turn up." to improve your long term prospects.

I don't count Arnold Schwarzenegger as a real actor, even though I enjoy many of his movies.

The "trap that Republicans almost always stumble into" is that all politics is ultimately local, and in the Republican neighborhood, the safe course that usually gets YOU elected year after year sets you and your party against an increasingly important National demographic trend. Every politician reads the same polls, but in this case, where you stand (publicly) really does depend on where you sit, and whether or not you want to continue sitting there. That's not exactly stumbling, it's more like pragmatic acceptance.

After they fall into the trap, the GOP will have to nominate a Latino for president. I think they should pick an English-speaking white Cuban guy who was born in Canada because those Mexicans really won't be able to tell that someone like that really isn't one of them. They will need a black woman for vice president to counter Hillary and all the black people rushing to vote Republican although it's possible that GOP voter suppression laws will prevent that.

"Obama's real dilemma is that no matter what he does, it's not going to satisfy everyone."

Honestly, that doesn't seem like a dilemma. That just seems inevitable when the Fact is that Republicans can only be satisfied with impeachment.

On the other hand, I was very satisfied with his executive order yesterday. I especially loved that he tyrannized the faithers. It is my sincerely held belief that he deserves another terrist fist jab for a job well done.

Honestly, that doesn't seem like a dilemma. That just seems inevitable when the Fact is that Republicans can only be satisfied with impeachment.

If Obama acts, it almost guarantees that the House is not going to act for the next two years, except maybe to pass some sort of protest bill that'll die in the Senate.

This will depend on how badly Democrats do in the Senate in the upcoming midterms, don'tcha think??

the issue is also probably going to come back to bite them in the 2016 presidential race. Latinos may become as solidly Democratic as African-American voters already are.

And look how the Dem Party is rewarding the loyalty of black Americans..

The ONE group that is going to be royally scrooed by amnesty is black Americans..

So, while Dems may reap the whirlwind of minting millions of fresh new Dem voters, they may push black Americans into the arms of the Republican Party...

Wouldn't THAT be totally ironic, eh??
