If the GOP owns the Senate, they can just change the rules to negate the effectiveness of the filibuster.

I thought it was hilarious, in one of the later Terminator flicks, although this could have been in the "bonus clips" -- can't say I remember now -- that the scientist who was responsble for creating the original AS termintor was addressed by one of the military guys:

"Why did you give him the accent?"

Our Constitutional system of electing national officials pretty much guarantees a Party Dogma Prism in the 21st Century USA. For that matter, the Prism was up and running at very nearly the beginning of the Republic. One of those unintended consequences, but you might as well rail against the tides. As a practical matter, we are stuck with it, because organized politics wins.

Everything they see is run thru the prism of Party Dogma....

The "trap that Republicans almost always stumble into" is that all politics is ultimately local, and in the Republican neighborhood, the safe course that usually gets YOU elected year after year sets you and your party against an increasingly important National demographic trend. Every politician reads the same polls, but in this case, where you stand (publicly) really does depend on where you sit, and whether or not you want to continue sitting there. That's not exactly stumbling, it's more like pragmatic acceptance.

Honestly, that doesn't seem like a dilemma. That just seems inevitable when the Fact is that Republicans can only be satisfied with impeachment.

On the other hand, I was very satisfied with his executive order yesterday. I especially loved that he tyrannized the faithers. It is my sincerely held belief that he deserves another terrist fist jab for a job well done.

the issue is also probably going to come back to bite them in the 2016 presidential race. Latinos may become as solidly Democratic as African-American voters already are.

And look how the Dem Party is rewarding the loyalty of black Americans..
