The problem here is that, in your mind, Obama can do no wrong..

Therefore any discussion with you STARTS from the premise that, "OBAMA IS ALWAYS RIGHT" and goes from there..

You are not grounded in reality, therefore your entire outlook is based in fantasy..

In that, you are exactly like your hero, Obama..

What impending danger to the US does Russian dominance of Ukraine pose?

I am sure that people asked themselves that same question right before the USSR rolled into Hungary and Czechoslovakia..

What we do NOT have, however, are national security concerns.

Spoken like a person truly ignorant of military and national security affairs..

Responding appropriately to situations IS "leadership."

And NOT responding at all is NOT leadership..

And THAT is exactly what Obama is doing now.

THAT is exactly what Obama did in Syria..

The problem here is one of credibility..

The US has none anymore on the world stage...

Thanx predominantly to Obama...

That is the fact that no amount of spin or hero worship will change...

The President's job is to ensure National Security. It is NOT to oversee the rest of the world. EVERY military conflict involving US military force has been "justified" under national security. What impending danger to the US does Russian dominance of Ukraine pose? Russia dominated Ukraine for half a century without inflicting any damage to the US.

We may have political, ideological, perhaps even moral concerns to Russian aggression. What we do NOT have, however, are national security concerns. There will undoubtedly be, in fact all ready are, US responses. They will not be military ones. Responding appropriately to situations IS "leadership."

Your knee-jerk belligerence at Russia's insistence on following its OWN foreign policy in its own national security interests is what's NOT "leadership." You confuse bullying with leadership, and think sovereignty only applies to you and what you want, in yet ANOTHER typical display of hypocrisy, mindless Obama-bashing, pointless war-mongering, and right-wing hysteria.

The cold war is over. Russia is no longer communist. Women are no longer property. Abortion is legal. Gays are no longer in the closet. Obamacare works, doesn't kill jobs, doesn't ration or control healthcare, and doesn't prevent either doctors or insurers from practicing their trade. Obsmacare allows tens of millions of uninsured Americans obtain the safety and security of health insurance. THAT IS leadership. We are not the world's policemen. We do not get to dictate terms to other sovereign nations.

Get your head out of right-wing propaganda and join the twenty-first century. Perhaps then you won't find my entirely accurate observations on your endless baseless irrational harangues of Obama to be personally unflattering.

What's so funny about the latest TWC delay is that it's the third (or maybe fourth) delay since HHS Sec Seibelus swore up and down that there would be NO MORE DELAYS...

I swear, you can't trust this administration's word even if they say that ice is cold and water is wet...

In other news..

http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/health-reform-implementation/199784-new-obamacare-delay-to-help-midterm-dems

So much for the BS claim that TrainWreckCare had absolutely NOTHING to do with the insurance plan cancellations...

Once again, Obama is desperately trying to play politics with Americans and their healthcare.

Obama should man up and just admit that obamacare is a worthless piece of crap legislation..

Ya'all always try to justify the crappy leadership of Obama by pointing to Bush and Iraq..

At the time, with the intel available, Bush made the right call for the right reasons.

I am also constrained to point out that YA'ALL's Democrats made the EXACT same call.

Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20..

Bush was far from perfect. He made some mistakes, some real doozies...

But he had (AND has) more leadership in his little pinky fingernail than Obama and ALL the other Democrats have combined...

So, blame Bush all you want.. The fact that you omit the part YOUR Democrats played in the debacle proves it's just nothing but ideological slavery talking...

LD,

It isn't the President's job, or the responsibility of the US to police the world and decide who governs which countries.

Yes, to the first and no to the second.

Like it or not, as the only remaining superpower, it IS the job of the United States to be the world's police force.

You don't seem to mind the US being the world's welfare agency??

You shouldn't have a problem with the US being the world's police force.

who, like you, think the solution to every problem is to reach for a bigger gun.

It's called "war".. Maybe you have heard of it.

And yes, in war it's ALWAYS good to have the biggest gun...

The problem is that your hero, Obama, has thrown away ALL the US's guns...

Obama is basically a PEACE AT ANY COST kind of leader..

And that is not "peace".. That is slavery...

For all intents and purposes, Obama has made America Putin's bitch..

Obama and the Demcrats are failures at leaders..

It's THAT simple...

LD,

Your personal attacks notwithstanding, you fail (again) to answer one single point I have raised..

Your hero, Obama, has FAILED as a leader..

It's really that simple..

Liz,

Or, you're not the conservative you say you are.

As I keep telling ya'all, I am *NOT* a conservative.. :D

I am just a normal everyday American who ignores the slavery of political ideology and worships upon the altar of COMMON SENSE... :D

I have to tip my hat to you and say that Financial Times article you cited is one of the best links you have ever provided.

Yea, I have to admit I liked it. It wasn't an Obama hit piece or an Obama love-in.

It laid out in logical and rational terms the mess we are in right now and how we got here.

It's as well-balanced a read as I have seen in quite a while..

Michale[18],

I have to tip my hat to you and say that Financial Times article you cited is one of the best links you have ever provided.

It was a fairly good read and it starts to get at an underpinning issue of this entire crisis - whether or not it is a good idea to for the West to keep insisting that Ukraine become a member of the NATO alliance over Russia's fierce and even understandable objections.

Michale,

Your latest Ukraine rant is the same neocon nonsense "conservatives" have been spouting since Johnson embroiled us in Vietnam, and your boy Bush reprised that disaster in Iraq. It isn't the President's job, or the responsibility of the US to police the world and decide who governs which countries. Bush didn't do a damn thing when Russia moved on Georgia either. Just what do you think the President is SUPPOSED to do? And why?!

"Leave military matters to military people?!" YOU are a textbook example of EXACTLY why its the law of the land that military matters NOT be "left to military people." The thousands killed, hundreds of thousands maimed and injured, and trillions of dollars wasted in Bush's overseas adventures, because he was fool enough to listen to people who think like you, is what happens when military matters are left to military people who, like you, think the solution to every problem is to reach for a bigger gun.

Ukraine government is reporting over 16 THOUSAND Russian troops are in the Crimea...

I think we can safely assume that those troops are new additions and not part of the Naval Base, eh??

It's an invasion..

Obama said, "You better not invade or there will be consequences."

Putin laughed, sent in the troops and gave a great big F-U to Obama....

Our POTUS has made the US a world-wide joke...

I completely agree, David.

It's annoying when politicians of ANY Party or persuasion lie to achieve their political agenda..

I'd just like to acknowledge Eugene Robinson at the Washington Post for doing exactly that, this week.

This is a nice article I hadn't seen, CW.

The biggest one being that tax cuts ever did anything for the economy (other than make the rich richer).

So, let's talk about this alleged GOP "War On Women"...

Because from where Joe SixPack American sits, surrounding one's self with a couple hookers doesn't indicate a healthy respect for the opposite sex...

Right???

As long as Bill Clinton is the Democrat Party poster boy, this "GOP war on women" BS is a load of carp...

I'm just sayin....

I definitely don't need a Left Wing rag to tell me what Putin is up to..

I know EXACTLY what Putin is up to..

He is putting the last few nails in Obama's "vaunted" foreign policy coffin..

Putin is playing chess...

Obama is playing tiddley-winks...

I can't wait til CW's commentary on this. There is absolutely NO WAY to spin this so Obama comes out on top..

Putin is playing Obama like the cheap-suited fiddle that Obama is...

It's early in primary season. That's when intra-party rivalry, and disagreements over both strategy and policy, are supposed to come out. If they were showing disunity in October of an even-numbered year, that would be reason for Democrats to (quietly) gloat. In March? Not a bit.

Completely off topic question:

Approximately half the states haven't opted to expand medicaid under the ACA. What happens to the $$$ that were expected to be spent for the expansion but now isn't being spent?

Deficit? ACA Entitlement Fund (if so, can it be shifted within HHS?)? What?

Invaded Ukraine? How about "never left?" As in Black Sea Fleet and associated infrastructure.

One thing that has been proven in Syria and now, proven in Ukraine. Proven beyond ANY doubt..

Putin is in control...

Obama's leading from behind has become America being LEFT behind..

Exactly as I predicted..

Alternate hypothesis: J. D. is 87.

And, if he were the ONLY Dem retiring, it would be a logical hypothesis..

But he ain't so it ain't.. :D

Invaded Ukraine? How about "never left?" As in Black Sea Fleet and associated infrastructure.

Any suggestions?

That you leave military matters to military people.. :D

Yes, Russians have a base in the Crimea.. However, the complement of that base has been augmented by approx 4k MORE Russian troops.

And they have not confined their locations to military installations..

The Crimea is effectively under Russian control..

Last Fri I predicted that Russia would invade.

4 days later, it happened..

Gods, I'm good!! :D

I mean, how hard is it for the Republican Party to understand that all of these ugly comments and ignorant ideas about rape are simply no longer acceptable for politicians?

I am also constrained to point out that the Democrat Party darling, the POSTER BOY for the Democrat Party has actually been accused, on SEVERAL occasions, of actually COMMITTING rape and sexual assault, not just making ugly comments about it..

Given this fact, do you really believe that pursuing this line of attack is prudent for Democrats??

I'm just sayin'....

because it goes to Representative John Dingell, who announced he will not be running for another term in office.

ANOTHER Dem retiring..

Don'tcha all wonder WHY this is happening??

I can give you a hint. The initials are T.W.C...

Senate Democrats have just announced that they won't be passing a budget this year, because they are afraid of Republicans forcing them to take unpopular votes. This is pathetic, and disappointing as heck, because this is supposed to be a large part of their job descriptions. (Dis-)Honorable Mentions all around!

I think someone around here mentioned this just last week, eh?? :D

Democrats (like Republicans) don't do a damn thing if it's politically dangerous or if there is not some huge personal/political payoff...

Ya'll would be a LOT happier if you would just concede the facts.

There is little difference between Dem and Republican politicians...

That's beyond pathetic. Before a jury weighs in, journalists all must use "alleged" before a list of their charges. But after the jury speaks, the person in question is a "convicted criminal" -- which should mean an immediate and automatic expulsion from the public payroll. What it really should mean is that the criminal in question should resign, but at the very least his fellow party members shouldn't be aiding and abetting such behavior.

Does this surprise you??

Republicans offer absolutely nothing to voters

Yea??

Well, we KNOW what Democrats offer to voters..

A country who'se economy is in the crapper and who influence on the world stage is non-existence...

Given these facts, I say it's high time we gave the Republicans another crack at things..

Democrats have run this country into the ground, domestically and internationally..

Republicans can't do worse...

How long is it going to take for the party to wake up to this reality?"

That's the problem with the spin.

You take one man's inane and moronic comment and you apply it to an entire Party..

I could find an equally inane and equally moronic comment from a Democrat. And HAVE on many occasions.

Does that mean the entire Democrat Party is represented by the one inane and moronic comment??

Of course not..

So, why is it that it is that way with the Republican Party, eh???

I don't expect an answer which is an answer in itself..

President Obama is giving an address on the situation in the Ukraine as this is being written, so we're going to wait until next week to draw any conclusions for American domestic politics, just to warn everyone up front.

I can save you the trouble..

Obama's statement to the American people can be summed up thusly..

"Russia has invaded Ukraine and we're not going to do a damn thing about it."

That is all....
