This is such a tremendously bad idea: let's sink the economy! Yay!

Unfortunately, Republicans seem completely willing (and almost ecstatic even) to let this happen.

*sigh*

Idiocy.

Good article.

The upcoming sequester is getting very little media attention. This is partly because of what you've described and partly because one party is all for austerity so it is pretty much assumed that the sequester will happen. In fact if Republicans had their way it would be larger and cut poor/unemployed/veteran/elderly people more - like what they wanted back during the fiscal cliff negotiations - thus have an even more drastic effect on the US economy than is being predicted.

You should be lucky that they do not have the power to do this. See Europe's economic performance if you want to see the effects of austerity.

Congrats, CW!! :D

I responded to your responses in the last FTP just in case you want to rebut... :D

As far as the current commentary, you hit the nail on the head.

In the here and now, it's the new normal..

I just hope Democrats in particular and the Left in general have the decency to acknowledge their responsibility for the way things are..

Yea, and maybe monkees will fly outta my butt...

I can already predict the response already from the Left...

"It's all the Republicans fault." :^/

Status Update -

OK, first things first. I have now answered all comment threads back to last Friday's FTP column. Once again, I must apologize for my laxity, but this brings me to the perfect segué to my next item.

I am closing in on finishing and finally "putting to bed" my sample chapter drafts for the book project I've been working on for lo these many months. Choose your own metaphor, from "circling the porcelain drain" to "light at the end of the tunnel" to "OMG that's a train's HEADLIGHT... RUN!!!"

Heh.

Whatever you call it, I am about to undertake the final final FINAL draft of my three chapters, and fully expect to complete them next week. Then again, I fully expected to complete them all in about September of 2011, so take this with a grain of salt, I guess.

A few more weeks of hammering my book proposal into shape, and I'll start sending it out to prospective agents and publishers.

What this means for you: I will be paying more attention to the blog from now on, the site, and (most importantly) to answering your comments in something under a week's time.

In any case, I'll keep everyone posted as things progress, but did want to send out this update. We're getting down to the wire, folks!

:-)
