Basically Salazar said that women when getting raped are too hysterical and should carry whistles instead of guns..

And he also suggested that women should vomit and urinate on their rapists instead of shooting them..

*REALLY* nice guy! :^/

DC = Diet Coke...

I don't usually start beer until noon.. :D

Name me one Dem who has come out against voting to confirm Hagel. There aren't any.

Maybe I am getting my nominees mixed up, but there are boo koo articles about Hagel's anti-gay, pro-Iran and anti-Israel comments and actions that have (or perhaps HAD) Democrats up in arms..

Now, it's likely that Democrats who WERE against Hagel decided that their fealty to The Great Exalted Barack The First is more important than their principles...

What a shocker, eh?? :^/

Seriously, dude, what WOULD you have said if Democrats had filibustered a SecDef in TIME OF WAR??? Examine your own bias, my friend.

Let me answer your question with a question..

What WOULD you have said if a Republican POTUS would nominate a completely incompetent buffoon for SecDef during a time of war??

The fact that we ARE at war (a fact which many on the Left deny) means we need an EFFECTIVE SecDef..

Putting Hagel in charge of our military would be an unmitigated disaster, considering how chummy he is with Iran and how much he is against Israel...

Hell, why not just make it easier and hand deliver a dozen nukes to the Ayatollahs??

Because that's the likely scenario that will occur under a Hagel DefDept...

Obama's problem is that he surrounds himself with people who think just like him..

And THAT is bad leadership...

Hadn't heard about Salazar, let me read the story...

I am not surprised you haven't heard of it.. If Salazar was a GOP'er, everyone would have heard of it.. It would have been plastered up and down the MSM for days..

But, because Salazar is a Dem, the Leftist MSM (which is virtually ALL of the MSM) ignores it..

Basically Salazar said that women when getting raped are too hysterical and should carry whistles instead of guns..

Michale -

the required 4-6 DCs in me

OK, what's a DC? Does it have something to do with Dixie Beer? Just a wild guess on my part...

As for "MIROTW," well, we leave that to the Rightie side of the internet to provide. Heh.

akadjian -

Yeah, looks like the whole thing was just a show for the Tea Partiers back home. Hagel will likely be confirmed, next week.

Agree about Mister Cranky, John McCain.

Michale -

Name me one Dem who has come out against voting to confirm Hagel. There aren't any. He'll be comfortably confirmed, once the GOP stops its unprecedented filibuster.

Seriously, dude, what WOULD you have said if Democrats had filibustered a SecDef in TIME OF WAR??? Examine your own bias, my friend.

(also)

Yeah, a mobile app would be cool. Let me look into it.

Ya'all want to talk about the "War On Women"??

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/02/joe-salazar-sorry-for-rape-comment-87804.html

I see a possible MDDOTW award for Salazar in the new future.. :D

But it's ironic.. When a GOP'er makes a moronic rape comment, it's top news for days..

A Dem makes a moronic rape comment and the Leftist MSM is one big collective yawn...

Yea... SURE there isn't a Left bent in the MSM...

I will be VERY surprised if Hagel is confirmed...

And let's not forget the Anti-Gay statements that Hagel has made that has the Democrats' panties all up in a wad...

Ironically enough, the opposition to Hagel is completely bi-partisan.. :D

Obama picked a turkey...

McCain is on record everywhere else trumpeting Benghazi and why Obama won't come clean.

McCain on the Sunday talk shows ..

That's your source for McCain being a D-Bag...

McCain is on record everywhere else trumpeting Benghazi and why Obama won't come clean..

I guess the Left is still giddy over Rubio's sip of water.. :D

Doesn't seem to me that Hagel is any closer to being confirmed...

Personally, I can't argue with the reasoning of the Right...

Obama ran on a platform of transparency..

Apparently he is only transparent on the stuff that makes him look good..

He's worse than Nixon...

Its looking like Hagel will be confirmed.

It also looks like, surprise, the fight had nothing to do with any questions Republicans wanted answered, but was rather political payback.

"There's a lot of ill will towards Senator Hagel because when he was a Republican, he attacked President Bush mercilessly, at one point said he was the worst president since Herbert Hoover, said the surge was the worst blunder since the Vietnam War, which is nonsense, and was anti his own party and people. You can disagree, but if you're disagreeable, people don't forget that." - John McCain

McCain really shoots his case in the foot here. Pretty much admitting that the whole reasoning Republicans used to filibuster is a farce.

Sheesh. Whatever happened to the maverick? I used to like the guy because he could work across party lines. Now he just looks like a petty d-bag.

For getting out in front of this issue, and for proposing a legal framework for police departments across America to follow (using the federal power of the F.A.A.), Representative Zoe Lofgren is our Most Impressive Democrat Of The Week. We encourage all congressional Democrats to support Lofgren's efforts.

One question..

Does her Republican co-sponsor deserve the MIROTW award?? :D

where the only possible injury to yourself might be carpal tunnel or (to quote Mark Knopfler) to "maybe get a blister on your thumb" -- will now rank as a higher honor in the military than getting wounded in battle or showing valor in battle. That is beyond disappointing. Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta deserves at least a (Dis-)Honorable Mention for this decision.

Re-reading over this, I see my mistake..

For some reason, I was thinking you wore quoting a HuffPo Commentary or some political blogger..

Now, re-reading the passage with the required 4-6 DCs in me, I see you were actually quoting the song itself...

{sniffle} {sniffle} I'm so proud.... :D

"This guy has enough money to buy ANYTHING in this mall and he buys a Remote Control Fart Machine..... I'm soo proud."

Michale -

:-)

Somehow I thought you'd agree with me on that medal thing. Sure, have some service medal for participating, but above the Bronze Star AND the Purple Heart? Makes no sense at all, I don't care how successful the guy's drone mission was.

Even though Facebook (FB) reported $1.1 billion in pre-tax profits from U.S. operations in 2012, it will probably pay zero federal and state taxes—and even receive a federal tax refund of about $429 million—according to a Feb. 14 statement from Citizens for Tax Justice.

Tell me again how it's REPUBLICANS that are in bed with corporate interests??

I seem to have forgotten what with all the facts to the contrary... :^/

Restrictions like banning armed drones, for instance -- an eminently good idea on the face of it.

Not to be a stick in the mud (yea, right! :D) but there were also restrictions against arming police helicopters...

So, police just put armed people into the chopper and achieved the same result.

With drones??

"Oh, the drone isn't armed. We put a small robot in the drone to fire the missiles, so technically it's the robot that is armed, not the drone."

As the gun ban of 1994 showed, ineffective laws are worse than useless...

The military is not really a valid target for us here, being non-partisan, but we have to at least toss out there the fact that the Pentagon is now ready to award medals to drone pilots. That doesn't seem all that controversial at first glance, but the really eyebrow-raising part of it is that the new "Distinguished Warfare Medal" will be ranked higher than either the Bronze Star or the Purple Heart. So sitting in a chair thousands of miles from the battlefield and piloting a drone -- where the only possible injury to yourself might be carpal tunnel or (to quote Mark Knopfler) to "maybe get a blister on your thumb" -- will now rank as a higher honor in the military than getting wounded in battle or showing valor in battle. That is beyond disappointing. Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta deserves at least a (Dis-)Honorable Mention for this decision.

Couldn't agree more. While SOME recognition for Drone Service is fully understandable, placing the medal above soldiers that bleed for their country is reprehensible..

I hope Mr Knopfler had the decency to credit DIRE STRAITS with that line. :D

Now look at them yo-yos thats the way you do it
You play the guitar on the mtv
That aint workin thats the way you do it
Money for nothin and chicks for free
Now that aint workin thats the way you do it
Lemme tell ya them guys aint dumb
Maybe get a blister on your little finger
Maybe get a blister on your thumb
-Dire Straits, MONEY FOR NOTHING

:D

Hell of a way to run a country

Yep, this is one of those things that NO ONE can say it's just the Republicans fault.

It's not a Republican problem, it's not a Democrat problem.

It's a lack of leadership problem, period..

As far as Hagel goes, I am constrained to point out that more Dems have a problem that GOP...

But Obama and the Democrats can fix the Hagel filibuster quite easily.

Come clean about Benghazi...

It's THAT simple..

I mean, it's not as if Republicans are asking of Obama something he doesn't want to do.

Obama RAN on a platform of transparency..

So, let Obama be transparent and Hagel will be confirmed...

Why is this even a problem???
