I think that's number 0594 above, and it's really three comments in one so that makes a total so far of 0597 ... three more to go.

I must say, I'm really looking forward to #0600 as it should be one for the history books! :)

I've already forgotten about Bush and any damage he and his brand of the Republican cult of economic failure and foreign policy disaster have visited upon your country and the rest of the world.

I'll remind you of that when the Democrats Tax & Spend plan goes sideways.. :D

But, Obama/Biden have come quite a long way in the long and difficult effort of cleaning up that monumental mess.

And yet, Americans universally agree that they are worse off now than in 2009...

By the way, when do you suppose Obama will nominate Hagel as the next SecDef?

I don't think Obama will name Hagel. With Rice, it's clear that Obama doesn't have the stomach for a fight that he doesn't have the chips stacked in his favor...

Obama likely will bail on Hagel because the LEFT has as much of an issue with Hagel as the Right does, albeit for different reasons...

Michale,

I've already forgotten about Bush and any damage he and his brand of the Republican cult of economic failure and foreign policy disaster have visited upon your country and the rest of the world. Not to say that we still won't all be living with the consequences of all of that mischief for some time to come, you understand. But, Obama/Biden have come quite a long way in the long and difficult effort of cleaning up that monumental mess.

By the way, when do you suppose Obama will nominate Hagel as the next SecDef?

Another silver lining of this whole deal is that the economy well and truly, beyond ANY doubt, now fully and completely belongs to the Democrats..

ANYONE from the Left who tries to blame Bush should be tar'ed and feather'ed and run out of town on a rail... AND get their pee pee whacked..

There's always New Year's Day for some last minute comments on the big fiscal cliff deal ...

Ahhh Good point.. :D

Every year, I think that New Years Eve at Midnight is the cutoff..

As far as the deal goes??

Democrats got everything they wanted w/o having to put ONE SINGLE spending cut on the table...

This deal does seal one thing.

It can never EVER be said again that Democrats are always willing to compromise...

Vice President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were close to a deal Monday to cancel historic tax hikes for most Americans. But they were still hung up on spending, with Democrats resisting a GOP proposal to delay automatic spending cuts for just three months.

Once again...

Democrats get everything they want, but don't want to put spending cuts on the table..

I have to admit, ya'all had me going when you were slamming the GOP for not compromising in the past...

But alas, what I always knew to be true has been proven once again..

Democrats are as moronic and uncompromising as ya'all claim Republicans are...

Wooops...

French Court Says 75% Tax Rate on Rich Is Unconstitutional
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-29/french-court-says-75-tax-rate-on-wealthy-is-unconstitutional.html

Looks like the STICK IT TO THE RICH mentality is hitting a few speed bumps...

Maybe a better idea than taking money away from people who earned it is learning to live within one's means...

Just a thought....

Where is Code Pink??

Where is MoveOn???

Where is the entire Left???

Oh, that's right..

They are too busy prostrating themselves before their "lord and savior" (a direct quote) the Great & Exalted Barack The First..

Again, I am gabberflasted that there are absolutely NO red lines here..

No Boundaries at all..???

"You have absolutely no boundaries, do you??"
"Well... I don't like fat guys."
"Well, it seems that I draw the line at incest."
"So, you'de do a fat guy??"

Awwww, who am I kiddin?

Ya'all would never be THAT lucky!!! :D

Seriously though... I couldn't possibly disagree more with your selections. But I guess that COULD mean ya are on the right track.. :D

I do have to single out one notable, though...

The partisan in me was leaning towards the whole "there's no political scandal here, but we're going to keep digging until we find one!" nonsense over Benghazi, for Most Overreported Story of 2012.

Seriously!??

Benghazi is the most UNDER-REPORTED story of 2012...

If you ignore Fox News (which I know most of ya'all take PRIDE in doing :D ) you will find barely any mention of Benghazi..

The simple fact that it caused the brutal slapdown of what on Obama's most trusted advisers should indicate how big of a story Benghazi was...

My prediction is that Benghazi will feature prominently in 2013. We have barely scratched the surface of what is known about Benghazi.. Which is a laughable testament to Obama's claim that he is the "Transparency President"..

Bug fixed!

You'll all notice, if you reload the page, I've finally fixed the bug with the "missing right border" for the quote blocks. Should be a complete box around the setoff quotes now (look at the bottom of this article to see...)

Woo hoo!

Thanks to Herm71 for the help on this one...

Well, I just finished re-reading your smorgasboard of insights, humor, and independent thinking and enjoyed it even more than the 1st time. Your "Most Under-reported Story" (on efforts to interfere with voting rights) triggered an old gripe closely tied yo this. The most powerful strategy for suppressing votes (workers' votes) is this country's shameful failure to do what many countries do: make Voting Day an National Holiday so EVERYone can have time to vote (instead of trying to fit it in between the commute home, feeding the kids and the doors closing on the voting site -- all in a few hours.)

"But the absolute Worst Idea of 2012 was to hand Karl Rove a reported $390 million so that he could buy the election for Republicans. Wowza. That was one really, awfully, suicidally bad idea. The "return on investment" (which is how rich donors talk) was abysmally low. Karl Rove got sucked into the same "I'm going to make up my own poll numbers and believe them rather than those other ones I don't like to look at" vortex of stupidity that swirled, tornado-like, around the entire Fox News channel in the waning months of the campaign.

Here's a safe bet: whatever funds Karl is able to raise in the future, he'll never again be handed almost $400 billion to play around with."

That's the gaffe I was mentioning...

Kevin -

I swear I'm not making this up. I'm sitting here next to Mrs. CW, who is reading the column on her new tablet (her employer got her an early Xmas present), and she points out the million/billion thing.

I log in to the CW.com site to fix it, and I immediately saw your comment.

So... it's fixed... mea culpa... and, man, did you call that one right!

:-)

Chris,
As usual an enjoyable read. Perhaps you could give Mrs. CW a chance to proof read your stuff before posting; re. the Rove $400 million/ $400 billion gaffe? Spell check wouldn't help there...
Expect an electronic kiss from Elizabeth :)
Happy New Year to all Weigantians.
