not seeming to care whether or not the economy collapses may seem unscrupulous, but it is certainly a shrewd bargaining position. since for the past twenty years neither the media nor the democrats have been willing or able to hold republicans responsible for it, i see no reason why they wouldn't continue. changing that pattern of behavior will take a lot more than the results of one year's elections.
