MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It might be one of the biggest issues in the upcoming presidential election. Last night, CBS News exit polls found 77 percent of those voting in seven Super Tuesday states say rising gas prices were an important factor in their vote.

I'm interested, without getting into the general election race against Obama, what do you think of the GOP primary season so far? Feeling better or worse about the field these days (in other words)

I am not that much into it.. It lost it's glitz and shine when Cain dropped out...

I am not even that eager about beating Obama. When it comes to my...er.. "passion" (CT) Obama is a really good president.

When one cares almost exclusively about killing terrorists (as I do) I am tickled pink that at least Obama has the gumption to force Democrats to toe the line when it comes to Counter Terrorist activities..

In other words, a GOP president wouldn't have NEARLY the success that Obama can have because Democrats would fight him/her every day of the week and twice on Sunday....

So, I am feeling rather melancholy about the whole ANYONE BUT OBAMA schtick...

Of course, that could change...

nypoet22 -

You may be right. The GOP primary race has all the charm of a trainwreck, and their positive/negative numbers reflect the public's view. There may well be a large "Well, Obama's not perfect by a long shot, but have you seen the clowns running to take him on?" demographic out there.

Michale -

I'm interested, without getting into the general election race against Obama, what do you think of the GOP primary season so far? Feeling better or worse about the field these days (in other words)?

i would say a more likely explanation is that the public has seen the alternatives and decided by comparison that obama isn't as bad as they thought.

I wish I could come up with a logical response that disputes this...

Sadly, I can't...

But the good news is that -- for the first time in his entire presidency -- Obama is slowly and steadily winning back support from the public.

i would say a more likely explanation is that the public has seen the alternatives and decided by comparison that obama isn't as bad as they thought. romney, santorum, gingrich and paul are the proverbial "ugly girlfriends."
