As the first British ship appears in front of Admiral de Grasse's flag ship, a sailor cries out, "Admiral, a British ship approaches!!" The Admiral, staunchly brave, yells to his First Mate, <I>outrageous French accent</I>"Bringz me my red shirt!!" The battle is joined and continues on thru the day with Admiral de Grasse emerging victorious. There is damage and blood and guts everywhere and de Grasse's ship took a huge pounding. The First Mate goes to the Admiral and says, "Admiral! That was astounding!! Never have I seen such bravery!!! But why did you ask for a red shirt?" Admiral de Grasse says, <I>(outrageous French accent)</I> "It's simple. With a red shirt on, the men would not see that I have been wounded and the would fight bravely on!" "Admiral," says the First Mate. "That's amazing!" An hour or so later a cry rings up! "ADMIRAL!!! 20 British ships approach!!!!" Admiral de Grasse yells to his First Mate, <I>(outrageous French accent)</I>"Bringz me my brown pants!!!!" :D Michale..... I can just picture how the battle went.....

The one time they actually do, it worked out better for America than France. It amazes me that men ever chose to withstand a two-hour floating artillery duel as a tactic of war.
