Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid held a vote today on the Paul Ryan budget, and Republicans were only able to muster 40 votes for it -- each and every one of which will immediately be turned into a campaign commercial by the Democrats (although, being the Senate, not all 40 are up for election next year).

Where are the scare tactics? Ryan is now complaining that Democrats are using "scare tactics" against his Medicare ideas. The irony of Republicans complaining about scare tactics on Medicare is apparently lost on Ryan (two words for you, Paul, since you seem to have forgotten: "death panels"). Ryan is a Republican. "Death panels" was said by a Republican. Ryan said that "scare tactics" were being used by Democrats. Where are the scare tactics? So far all I see are Republicans using scare tactics and Republicans saying that Democrats are using scare tactics. Now I'm not saying they aren't using scare tactics, but if they are, they should be apparent. I don't see it yet. I don't see any "death panels". I think the "scare tactic" they're referring to is called "explaining the Ryan plan". -David

Let's just hear what Bill Clinton has to say about Pelosi's Medicare "plan"...

"You shouldn't draw the conclusion that the New York race means that nobody can do anything solve the rising Medicare costs,” said during his speech. “I just don't agree with that. I think you should draw the conclusion that the people made a judgment that this proposal in the Republican is not the right one. I agree with that, but I'm afraid that the Democrats will draw the conclusion that because Congressman Ryan's proposal, I think, is not the best one, that we shouldn't do anything and I completely disagree with that."

Pelosi's response? "We have a plan -- it's called Medicare." Not bad, as slogans go. To which the logical response would be... "Medicare?? The plan that's going to be bankrupt in a couple years... yea... good plan..." :D Ryan is now complaining that Democrats are using "scare tactics" against his Medicare ideas. Thereby proving, once again, that there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans vis a vis fear-mongering... The Ryan budget is a classic example of overreach. As was CrapCare.... One party wins big in an election, and automatically assumes that the public is one hundred percent behind everything they want to do. {{{cough}}} {{{cough}}} 2008 {{cough}} {{cough}} :D Less than half a year into their term, though, the pendulum has already begun swinging back to the Democrats. The time period between swings is getting shorter. How so?? On the basis of one special election?? A year and a half is an eternity in political time, and literally anything could happen between now and then. Yea, just ask John Edwards... :D Michale.....
