Michale [1] -

Seems like Boehner is keeping true to his promise to change the way the House operates, for better or for worse (for him and his party). He just lost another vote, on the F-35 engine.

Michale -

There was one interesting article on the Huffington Post, a few months back, which suggested that the Tea Party folks could work together with Lefties on a number of different issues. I forget who wrote it, and I'm too lazy to look it up unless you're REALLY interested, but I did want to say that others were talking about it. FireDogLake, as well, may have been pushing this theme for a while, if memory serves.

For better or worse, the stimulus bill was passed in record time by the last Congress. It was the highest priority. My point is about Republican priorities, which seem to be ass-backwards, wouldn't you agree?

The Republican priorities seem to be to their constituents who voted them in...

Seems to me to be a smart way to go...

And I've been saying for a while that the Tea Party Republicans were not going to quietly accept their leadership's instructions on how to vote.

Of course they won't..

But did you hear of anyone from the Left(besides you) who claimed that the Tea Party might not be so bad, that they might actually HELP Democrats??

Of course not.. To those people, the Tea Party was nothing but a bunch of homophobic racists...

Once again, the Hysterical Left is proven dead on ballz wrong.. :D

Osborne Ink -

Thanks for pointing that out, I used the "3 abortion bills, 0 jobs bills" thing in Friday's column. Excellent point.

dsws -

I think the Republican leadership is finding out they've got a tiger by the ears. The next few months are going to be very interesting, that's my guess...

Elizabeth and Osborne -

Yep, for better or worse, it's going to be a centerpiece of the 2012 campaign.

As far as Egypt goes, I find I have to smile when I read all the reports of the happiness amongst the Egyptians and the rest of the world..

Never thought everyone would be so happy about a military takeover of an allied government...

Just shows to go ya...

Even a military coup can be spun.... :D

Matt,

Two quick observations, Chris: (1) Boehner and company are devolving into self-parody. (2) 698 days left, 0 jobs created, three abortion bills pending.

And your Democrats had 4 years..

How much worse off is the country now???

Trillions....

That battle will be known as the Obama reelection campaign. It's a winning issue.

Yea.. And Democrats weren't shellacked at the Midterms... :D

Face it. Obama is a one-termer.. The sooner you accept that, the happier you will be.

Liz,

Actually, what I really want to know is when the battle to put an end to this absurdity will begin ... on the part of Obama/Biden, that is.

I am not sure I can tell you when it will begin...

But I can tell you when it will end..

20 Jan 2013.... :D

dsws,

I'm glad to be proven wrong about these Tea Party Republicans. I would have given long odds that this would never happen.

So much for all the horror stories from the Peanut Gallery about the Tea Party, eh??

You would think said Gallery would get tired of being wrong all the time. :D

Well, I just want to know how the speaker intends to deal with the impending expiration of the Obama/Biden/Geithner tax cuts for the weathiest Americans.

"The truly embarassing part of the vote count was that over two dozen Tea Party Republicans (or, perhaps even "Libertarian Republicans") voted with most Democrats not to extend the provisions."

I know that it is how politics is done, but something about the concept of "Only fighting battles you know you can win" just rubs me the wrong way...

Seems a tad cowardly to me...
