I've been away (in the wilds of Texas) for a few weeks and am deep in the midst of "catching up" but it seems pertinent to add a brief news bit from the radio, heard on the road a day ago: Ford Motor Co. was pleased to announce that they're raising production (by 13%) of their Lincoln & Mercury [??] due to increased demand. The last line of the report mentioned that they haven't decided yet whether they'll hire any new workers. Wish this format would let me italicize "haven't decided yet."
They are, however, admirably doing what corporations do - - raising profits.

i think you're playing a false dichotomy. it's perfectly possible to craft a policy that rewards hard work, just not wealth and crooked dealing. vertical mobility ought to be more possible for everyone, in BOTH directions.

Agreed...

Let's just not vilify the wealthy, SOLELY based on the fact that they are wealthy...

There are many people out there who DESERVE that wealth..

A fact that many on the Left tend to forget...

The other side of that equation is that there are people who DO work hard for the millions that they make..

Why should they support those who just want to live off the public dole??

There are logical and rational arguments for both sides of the issue...

It is so frustrating that such a small percentage of the population holds all of the wealth and power. The majority of us are struggling to keep afloat and it is scary to think that we can work hard all of our lives and still end up drowning in debt and dying in poverty.

I don't expect things to change anytime soon because those with the power to improve the standard and quality of life for the majority of the population don't care about anything except themselves.
