As a conservative, I am writing my Republican congressman Jack Kingston and requesting that they be reprimanded.

We need to get off to a better start. So while their infractions are small compared to a Charlie Rangel two wrongs never make a right.

Just a quick note to say I am not ignoring you. Weekends are my busy time and especially when it's been a crappy day...

But one thing I can assure you of..

While I WILL be ready, willing and able to point out and agree with all the GOP's transgressions (of which I am sure there will be many) I will also be pointing out that they are (and will be) very similar to all the DP's transgressions of the last two years...

So, while I am sure we will agree often on how bad the GOP messes up (when they do) I am sure there will be equal agreement that the DP messed up just as badly...

You know what? You have pre-empted the comment I have been meaning to post in your direction for a day or so now, for which I give you a lot of credit up front. My commentary would have gone something like this:

"M - Are you going to hold the GOP's feet to the fire in the same way you have been for the Dems? I mean, seriously, for the past few years, I've been saying "both parties do this, this is nothing new" and feeling your heat. So now that the GOP is heading down the same familiar road, what are you going to say about it?"

Here's my favorite example, from the first week, that didn't make it into today's FTP: Two Republicans were having so much fun drinking with their buddies that they forgot to show up on the House floor to be sworn in. They saw the swearing-in on TV at their fundraising parties, and raised their hands, but that's not exactly kosher, constitutionally. They then voted and participated in committees, in violation of the Constitution of the United States of America, before later being sworn in (assumably in their equivalent of "detention" for a schoolkid). House Republicans then hustled a bill through the House which actually warped time to declare that their swearing-in (which happened after the fact) was somehow "retroactive" and their votes counted and were legal. In blatant BLATANT contradiction to their stated principles (not to mention the Constitution itself), the GOP leadership hustled this bill through not only as "closed" as the health care repeal bill, but with only (as one lefty media outlet put it) "12 minutes" of notice -- instead of the three days they had solemnly sworn EVERY bill would receive in their pristine House of Representatives.
