NYpoet,

the trouble with allowing our country to flip with this type of coin is that no matter which side it lands on, it still belongs to someone other than us.

True... Which is why I think we should get rid of Political Partys all together...

Come on!! Ya'all are spose to chime in with... We should get rid of Political Partys

...... tough room...

Ahem.. Anyways...

Get rid of Partys and vote for PEOPLE...

Not Party.

Imagine how great things would be if ideas took precedence over ideology..

Before anything else, just let me comment how sad and pathetic it is to see the Hysterical Left blogosphere pointing the finger at the Right for the tragedy in Tucson.

Yea, you know who you are....

Those bloggers sure have a lot of egg on their faces because the scumbag shooter has been described by people who knew him as "Left Wing" and a "liberal pot head"...

Let's be clear about one thing... Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin are as responsible for Jared Loughner's rampage as Al Gore is responsible for James J. Lee's attack at the Discovery building..

And frankly, those that use this tragedy (again, you know who you are) to further a warped hate-filled political/partisan agenda really ought to be ashamed...

It's also interesting to note how the Daily KOS pulled a commentary from a Leftie who had posted that Gabby Giffords was "dead to him".....

Which totally and utterly destroys the theory that there are no hate-mongers on the Left thereby proving, beyond ANY doubt, that there are scumbags and losers on the Left as must as on the Right...

Now, to business....

CW,

Love the Ferris Beuhler quote.. :D

Yes, I agree with you completely that the Right's malfeasance needs to be addressed and called out... The GOP is not going to get any free rides from THIS commenter..

the GOP leadership hustled this bill through not only as "closed" as the health care repeal bill, but with only (as one lefty media outlet put it) "12 minutes" of notice -- instead of the three days they had solemnly sworn EVERY bill would receive in their pristine House of Representatives.

Comments?

".....will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days."
-Presidential Candidate Barack Obama

'nuff said...

Actually, no.. That's not enough.. You are not going to find me justifying or mitigating any transgression from the Right.. At least, not when it's not deserved... But I will be pointing out that said transgressions are no different than the transgressions from the Left...

I can see what the next two years are going to be like...

CW.COM The GOP is messing up again. They did this, that and the other thing....

MICHALE Yea, I agree, that's totally wrong... But it's not any different then when the Democrats did this that and the other thing..

"As president, I promise you dis, dat and de other thing."

HawkOwl -

Rolf Harris' version of "Waltzing Matilda" (at least the version I grew up with) had an enormously long introduction, where Rolf explained the various Aussie terms in the song (such as: billibong, jumbuck, billy, swagman, tucker bag, and of course, waltzing Matilda, which -- from memory -- "the term 'waltzing Matilda' had nothing to do with dancing, it referred, in fact, to hauling this sack, on your back, through the long and lonely outback of Australia"). At the end of this spoken introduction to the song, and right before he begins actually singing, he says:

"That's enough, let's get on with it..."

[sung] "Once a jolly swagman, camped by a billibong, under the shade of a coolibah tree..."

When I typed the line out, I realized where it had come from in my subconscious, so I decided to give it credit.

tinsldr2,

We need to get off to a better start. So while their infractions are small compared to a Charlie Rangel two wrongs never make a right.

Well said...

And, don't forget Maxine Waters..

That's why it has always been my position that castigating one Party over another is like masturbation.

It makes you feel good momentarily but doesn't really accomplish much. :D

"Two Republicans were having so much fun drinking with their buddies that they forgot to show up on the House floor to be sworn in. They saw the swearing-in on TV at their fundraising parties, and raised their hands, but that's not exactly kosher, constitutionally. They then voted and participated in committees, in violation of the Constitution of the United States of America, before later being sworn in"

As a conservative, I am writing my Republican congressman Jack Kingston and requesting that they be reprimanded.

CW,

Just a quick note to say I am not ignoring you. Weekends are my busy time and especially when it's been a crappy day...

But one thing I can assure you of..

While I WILL be ready, willing and able to point out and agree with all the GOP's transgressions (of which I am sure there will be many) I will also be pointing out that they are (and will be) very similar to all the DP's transgressions of the last two years...

So, while I am sure we will agree often on how bad the GOP messes up (when they do) I am sure there will be equal agreement that the DP messed up just as badly...

Oink,

The House GOP will spend the next two years reminding us why everyone was a Democrat in 2008.

Yea and the country is SOOOOOOOOOOOooo much better off right now BECAUSE of that, right??? :^/

The American People have spoken...

Get over it....

Michale -

You know what? You have pre-empted the comment I have been meaning to post in your direction for a day or so now, for which I give you a lot of credit up front. My commentary would have gone something like this:

"M - Are you going to hold the GOP's feet to the fire in the same way you have been for the Dems? I mean, seriously, for the past few years, I've been saying "both parties do this, this is nothing new" and feeling your heat. So now that the GOP is heading down the same familiar road, what are you going to say about it?"

Heh.

Here's my favorite example, from the first week, that didn't make it into today's FTP: Two Republicans were having so much fun drinking with their buddies that they forgot to show up on the House floor to be sworn in. They saw the swearing-in on TV at their fundraising parties, and raised their hands, but that's not exactly kosher, constitutionally. They then voted and participated in committees, in violation of the Constitution of the United States of America, before later being sworn in (assumably in their equivalent of "detention" for a schoolkid). House Republicans then hustled a bill through the House which actually warped time to declare that their swearing-in (which happened after the fact) was somehow "retroactive" and their votes counted and were legal. In blatant BLATANT contradiction to their stated principles (not to mention the Constitution itself), the GOP leadership hustled this bill through not only as "closed" as the health care repeal bill, but with only (as one lefty media outlet put it) "12 minutes" of notice -- instead of the three days they had solemnly sworn EVERY bill would receive in their pristine House of Representatives.

Comments?

As you would say: "Anyone?... Beuhler?..."

Heh. I remind you -- this is but the first week of the new Congress....

The entire Talking Points seem to revolve around the GOP breaking campaign promises..

Do Democrats REALLY want to go down that road???

Seriously???

Having said that, I am in complete agreement.. I intend to hold the GOP's feet to the fire for the next 2 years, just as I have held the DP's feet to the fire...

Congrats on the 150th Talking Points memo. I do enjoy them although we often disagree, but that just makes it fun. Besides you make me learn stuff so always good.

And they do know what made the dead birds fall from the sky of course,,, GRAVITY,,,, just sayin!
